it does, Bajaj bikes tend to misfire like crazy at lower revs with a faulty ignition coil (if the other is running fine) because we have 2 such coils... moreover the tacho needle problem clearly indicated a faulty ignition coil supply.
FYI I had the same issue (because I used to keep my bike's ignition coil disconnected to prevent theft ) got it fixed myself & I used to face more-or-less the same problems as the thread starter. :P

      @thread starter
1.did you try to kick start your bike?free or easy kick indicates low compression.
2.As per your comments i think the service agent is trying to push you to buy whole kit which may not be necessary.Try consulting a good mechanic and take a second opinion.
Whenever i see bikes or cars i see adrenalin pumps instead of people carriers.Thats the way to define an automobile.

is this only with bajaj bikes? I dont think so..
May be the problem is with coil & that's what i said in my earlier post.
Btw, nice way of preventing theft:-)
        .
        @ Ulti racer,
i totally agree with you bro. +10 to you.

oops, my bad... I meant to say Bajaj bikes misfire more at low revs than higher revs with a faulty coil, don't know why.

've decided to get the complete job of my engine done..When opened, the piston has metled a bit, which was the cAuse of all the problems. The service centre charges around Rs.5500 for entire job which includes block piston, tappet, valves, timing chain, clutch plates, labour charge etc which I think is pretty ok.I'm also getting ignition coiles changed. The estimate given is around 8000,which in my opinion is justified as I wish to see my bike in its previous glory. Now some queries:-
1.Will I have to follow the running in process again??
2.Which engine oil should I use??Recommended grade in the manual is 20W40 and I had been using Castrol power1 15w40 semi synth oil.
3.is it recommended to use NGK spark plugs on a new engine??as per NGK's site the conventional,g-power And iridium can be used without modifications.is it true.??i had read somewhere on this forum that some kind of special cable is used for that..
4.what benefits can I expect from ngk plugs over normal spArk plugs??

              yes

stay away from castrol. I got fake products from castrol dealer that too twice.
Use whatever you like. elf/motul/gulf/yamalube/valvoline has good reviews but keep the grade 20w40 not below. And shift to 20w50 for summer.
And also drain oil (first oil change after engine job) before 250km.
2nd oil change at 1000kms. After that stick to 2000km drain interval. Avoid synthecs till 10k kms

NGK is a brand which has all kinds of plugs. special cable is not needed for ordinary/special plugs without any heavy mods..
And special plugs can be used without mods even on a new engine.

              will solve cold start problem.
Theory say it can also improve mileage & power.

power 1 is one of the best semi-synth you can get but be sure of authenticity. As I said I got both this oil from dealer outlet, but the oils were fake.
That's why i said to change brand.
Btw, other oils must be available.

                    Hello guys,
The bike is finally back from the service.Total Damages were of Rs.6000.
                    I have some queries-
1.The service manager, when asked, replied that just by changing the block-piston set, clutch plates, tensioner and valves, the bike does not need to be run-in.Kindly guide me about the correct procedure.
2.He also said that I can use Synthetic oil whenever I desire,as the bike has already completed about 25k kms.He put Castrol Power1(Semi Synth)
3.What is the correct procedure to set clutch?I mean how much free play is advised so that clutch plates remain healthy?
4.Has anybody tried NGK on a 135cc machine??As stated bu another xbhpian in the spark plug thread,he faced problems with his pulsar 135 when he installed NGK iridium.

                        1) as the piston, piston ring & block is changed i.e. Its new, so its definately not mated well (measured in microns), just like a new bike so it needs run in.
                        2) both ways, synthetic or mineral you're not going to harm anything.
                        3) follow user manual for clutch setting. Play is measured in mm at the lever on the extreme end. Just dont set it too loose or too tight.
                        4) sorry got no idea about this.

One of my friends is facing high oil consumption issue on his Stunner and the mechanic is suggesting him not to go for a new block piston kit but for a rebore.
Which way should he go??Odo reading is at 9k kms.
