9k is nothing friend.. How come this happening??
    Go for warrenty claim.
There can be two kinds of issues:
    1.valves and/or valve guide gone
    2. Piston ring and/or piston and/or cylinder gone
    * or may be both 1 and 2.
Before setting one's mind for which way to go better know what exactly is happened to engine.
Btw, new engine kit comes with warrenty & peace of mind and re-bore will give slight displacement increase (too small to count in unless you in for last size) & lower initial cost.
For long term low cost & reliability engine kit is recommended.

Hello guys..It has been almost a week after my bike came after the engine job and then a tappet adjustment.two problems which remain unsorted are:-
1.Early morning start-the bike comes to life in one start, but feels like its suffocating when trying to move.An exploding sound also comes sometimes. It usually takes about 15-20min to properly start.I'm using NGK iridium plugs, but it seems of no use.
2.Jerkiness below 3000rpm-the acceleration is very non linear and after 3000rpm,it feels like its a turbocharged bike.
I've asked the service centre guys to clean up carb and check for any wear and tear, but the say thAt everything is normal, but its again the same old story the next day

Thanks a lot bro for pointing that..But the problem in the service centres is that all the mechanics are there to learn on your bike,I once tried to tune myself, but I just couldnot find that sweet spot. Now a days I guess I'm reading more of these tuning DIYs than my prescribed books.!!!Can somebody genuinely guide me.???:-(

^^ try turning your AFR screw to richer side by 1/8th turn but before that, tell me do you get that "turbocharged" feeling under hot temperature?

Yes bro, till about 2.5-3k rpm the bike feels a bit sluggish or average at its best...but after that, the pickup becomes what it should be..it increases with a jerk!!And it becomes more evident with a pillion behind. To check this out, yesterday I was voluntarily giving lifts to people. Some aunties were even getting bad perception for me!!:-P

Me too recently faced this "turbo lag" problem but that was because of bad diaphragm of the carb.
Your might be similar but lean mix, i mean too lean mix also gives this kinda symptoms.
Try riding with half-choke specially with lower rpm and tell me does this (temporarily) solves your problem..

                  @Honda CBF
bro, kudos to you for your guidance!!!despite all claims by the SVC guys,I forcefully gave my bike to them today for carb overhaul.I dont know what they did,but they have billed me "Carb overhaul, diaphragm replace=60"
And the bike really feels great now.Cheers to you and all xbhpians!!!
But one thing which is to be seen is that whether morning start trouble is solved or not.The ngk iridium plug was also creating a funny sound when applied. The explosion like sound coming from silencer was due to it.And the plugs tip was dark black.Any views on it??

hello guys, tried to tune my carb today. After 7-8 attempts,I finally think that I have got the ideal tune. Some of my observations-
1.The accelerator response is sharp and very very crisp. Is it ok??
2.The exploding sound which sometimes came is now fully gone.
3.The bike starts with one touch WITHOUT any throttle feed.I guess its ok...

Is there anything else I can do to verify ideal tuning??

everything seems ok. Just check out the colour of spark plug electrodes it must not be white (which means lean mix) colour should be tan (optimum mix) and black colour says rich mix.
Edit: and i'm sorry as i've got no experience with iridium spark plugs so cant comment anything

Ok i'll be waiting for your update. And one more thing to add:
dont just open the plug & check colour,
ride for some 30 mins then wait for some 15 mins and then open the spark plugs for colour review. This way you wont be damaging your spark plug threads from heat. 15 min wait (at least) is needed for letting the plug & engine cool down.

Checked the spark plugs just now. There were no deposits, and the spark plug is of the same colour it was when new..Have driven almost 150kms on MY tuning and loved every single km on it.The bike now feels like an eager puppy all the way.Earlier when the bike used to suffocate,I used to console myself remembering that its a 25k kms old bike. But I'm glad I was wrong.!!What a difference a correct tuning can make!!

AND,I would like to share some experiences with you guys. This is with respect to dealing with service guys.
1.According to one of my close friend at Honda,an authorised dealer earns more from service than from sales. So dont fall for the shit laid out by these people. The service advisor has been Advising me for the past one and a half years to get a new block piston set.But I got it changed only after decrease in oil and oily spark plugs. An interesting find-one day,a service advisor asked me to get clutch plates changed as he felt pickup was not right.Being an enthusiast,I was shocked. After two days,I went to the fellow again and asked him to ride my bike and told him that i had come for inspections after getting the plates changed from them(;-)).He told"look sir,i told you, this difference is from new plates, see how your bike flies now.I was smiling and was thinking-what a difference a lie can make!!!!
2.If your bike is in perfect shape, and you visit them for a small job like tightening of chain, they'll deliberately make some great adjustments to your chain/clutch/carb so that you'll come running to them for a service,or even worse, some part may fail.So always get a job done in front of you and go by the manuals recommendation for any adjustments.
3.never trust them for an oil change.

                                Ya, svc people are ****
that's why i've almost stopped going to them.
If i go, then with strict instructions.
About your spark plug, it seems you are running optimum or slightly towards lean mix, either way if you are not having any problems (like overheating) then there's nothing to worry.
Even though, for being sure, check those plugs for colour after little more riding (about 100kms more) and i'm saying this in anticipation, that you haven't cleaned your already clean spark plugs (so that we can know the cumulative colour of plugs for total running)
