  • Re: TVS Wego

Guys this is my first post in tje 4stroke section of the forums.....
    I own a red tvs wego 2011 model(september)
I have clocked 18k on the odometer...
recently the was a lot of pull from the rear end of the vehicle and after some time there was an unusual sound too from the rear end....so yesterday I took it to ASC of TVS and to my surprise all the gearbox bearings including the rear wheel's was worn out....I was regular in servicing the scooty, changed the gearbox oil during each service i.e, after every 1.5k kms after the initial 1k kms....
My experience has been good with the vehicle until now when it has started developing these small problems....
before sometime, one of the studs of the carburetor had developed a slip in it...had to get it re-threaded and had to insert a new stud in that....
My question to the TVS Motor Company is that, are your products so much low in quality??
My elder brother owns a Suzuki Access and he rips the guts of his access...but he has not had these type of problems even after clocking 30k mark on his odo....
My dad has to travel 30 kms (one way) for his job now as he is transferred and he was thinking of buying a scooty....initially we had an opinion of tvs jupiter but now after this incident we are having 2nd thoughts about it....and now he is insisting on buying a Hero Maestro....
Has tvs really lowered the quality of its products?? I am thinking of writing a strong worded letter to the company...

Getting a consistent 36-38 kmpl now...pretty happy with that. The culprit was going hard on the throttle. A gradual increase in speed with moderate throttle and trying to keep it in ECO mode as much as possible increased the mileage considerably. Most of my usage is start stop short distances (shops, errands etc) apart from a 10-15 kms to and fro trip to college.

      ODO : 1160 Kms
      2 services done.
Now 5 months old. No complaints. Smooth as ever

The 36-38 kmpl is still low. My 300 Km Run Jupiter gives 45-46 kmpl. Guess you are Virtually Ripping it hard.
Any ways, I usually ride it around 60 Kmph and gradually climb the speed.

            1. Mileage rarely reduces post run in or 1st service.
            2. Carb tuning for what? Why touch it at all when it may not be needed?
            3. What does your spark plug say?
            4. Air pressure in the tyres normal?

Spark plug helps ascertain whether you have a lean/rich mix.

Yes there is. Read the manual you got with the scoot!

I took my scoot to the SVC yesterday and reported my efficiency problem. They tested it on a Roller bench ( looks like the dyno test equipment ) and he got an average of 39-40kmpl. He told the tuning was not done properly last time and he changed the AFR screw to the ideal setting. He got an average of 48-50kmpl now. So now he has promised that i will get that average now or else i can take it to him again.

Will report new mileage next week!

The tuning was the culprit. Getting above 42kmpl consistently now.

And by the way, what is the top speed you guys got? I had taken mine to NICE road for the first time this week and loved it. The max speed i got was a speedo indicated 85 km/h. Even at that speed it was super smooth and didn\'t sound too stressed. Although stability was a small problem. Not sure if it was because of me or windblast :P

I do not plan to max it again though

Mine gives 52+ kmpl consistently if ridden sane. Gives 50 kmpl consistently if riding partial insane-sane. Gives 45+ kmpl consistently if ridden like maniac.

I dont think i will ever get that high! :P I would say my riding style is partial insane-sane. Can you give further details how you maintain your scoot?

I am beginning to feel something is wrong with the air filter in mine. Due for 3rd service this month. Anything to lookout/check for?

                            • Re: TVS Wego

Test mileage after 3rd service. Before 1st service, I got only 26 kmpl. But after 1st and 2nd service, the mileage got more than twice.
I am an insane (maniac!) rider and I get 47 kmpl and my mom who rides very sane (never crosses more than 35 kmph) gets 55 kmpl and my dad is mixed (never crosses more than 60 kmph but give some sudden acceleration below that speed) gets 50+ kmpl.

And also, my idling is high, but mileage is good.

New problem came: So, you start the scooter after being unused for overnight (from 8 PM) and start the scooter at 9 AM the next day and the scooter will start with a smooth hum. If you give more than half throttle suddenly, it would either shut down or gives a jerk and engine will return to its idle state after leving the throttle. I didn't have this issue earlier, i.e. before 2nd service.
                              Solutions?

Will check after 3rd service..due on 19th feb. Scoot Will be 6 months old then

Regarding your problem, after the first start( sometimes cold start) i would leave the engine to run for about 1-2 mins before actually using it. It warms up the engine. I am not sure if this is the solution to your problem but just try it out.
                                Also why the high idling?
