Today im writing my views on Veedol Takeoff 4T & Xtreme Sports

I bought xtreme sports , Im a huge fan of xtreme's, this is my 3rd since 2010. Owned Unicorn, but disliked it's engine tuning.


my bike had run just 150km's on odo. I was a bit scared to try the takeoff. But I did it, boy im so glad i did it

I am very religious about my bike, hence I opted for an early oil change before the removal of clutch case @500km's. Hence oil hunting began. I shortlisted two:

1) Hero genuine 4t 2) Takeoff 4t (both commonly come in 900ml cans or rarely 1l cans)

Both these oils are manufactured by same company, tide water india. I opted for veedol takeoff when i came to know that hero oil is of cheaper quality than veedol's own brand. Oil components & chemicals are almost same in both oils, so there is no damage to engine.


hero oil: default oil, does the job, but as the engine temperatures get hot, it behaves bad, with bike getting rough.

takeoff: same grade, almost same component/chemical oil, but of much better quality. Holds the properties better than stock oil in hot conditions. engine seems to breathe better, revs more freely, idles more even. It has bettter cooling properties than hero 4t, thus the engine crankcase doesnt get too hot.

When you change the oil to takeoff, initially the bike might feel rough, will even out within few hundred km's. A carb tuning maybe required to get the perfect 'exhaust note' Takeoff oil is very safe to use even on a brand new bike (I have done it, with very good results). If you have unicorn/hunk/xtreme, i highly recommend this oil. Veedol also has 10W40 super swift, which is a semi synthetic oil & is famous for use with xtreme/hunk/unicorn, after 5k running on ODO.

Overall very happy with the oil!

Obviously, as you said, FZ16 is well accepted and still going strong. I have a great desire for FZ16 because it looks cute and macho. Handling is very good. Sitting posture isn't so great considering my height (5'11) but I felt OK. The foot rest on both sides are little backwards for the sporty seating posture. I liked the engine and the torque. It pulls very well. Believe me, I am seeing a lot of newly registered FZ16 in my town these days despite the new bikes introduced by the other manufacturers. The demand for the original FZ16 is still hot. It's true that it's priced steeply for a very old model (still 90k or more on road). As for Hunk, I'm attracted by its looks (except from the rear, which ain't that great), the seating posture, weight, dual disk etc...when I say looks, I love its tank, visor and side view and all. Also, I heard that it had good speed and pickup as well. Engine performance, longevity, trouble free usage, I don't have any idea. Also, I feel that it's a bit underrated. Even Hero doesn't promote it enough (they are launching Achiever 150&#128512

It is highly unlikely that the carb got damaged.
Get the bike to a good local mechanic who has experience in servicing Unicorn/Hunk/Xtreme and check his opinion.
As Jith_in suggested, problem could be with carb's vacuum piston or carb slide.
I had a problem with my bike where the bike shows "missing" feeling once in a while during long rides. The idle was perfect though. The problem was with the vacuum piston.

Looks like vaccum piston is damaged you can get it replaced for 650 rs. But first get it checked with an experienced mech

I would pick FZ16 for looks, well proven and fat tyres.
With Hunk, from starting I have issue with gear lock between 3rd and 4th. Hunk is no doubt have very good riding posture and well balanced. Riding over 80+ doesn't feel very confidence.
But when I switched to Hornet, it feel completely different. Fat tyre gives you much more confidence. I don't feel anything riding over 85Kmph. It just great with super smooth engine.
New FZ16 v.20 is coming with FI and better fuel efficiency. If you like it go for it.

I didn't go with FZ16 because of sitting posture and bit higher price.

I really the hunk (now Hero Hunk). Is it good these days? I have to decide between Hunk and FZ16.

When it bought it was Hero+honda made. I thought this might add more detail.
ASC, is asking for 5K for carburetor change. I want to confirm, do I really need to go for it.

You have Hero Hunk right? Not Hero Honda Hunk I guess.

[Hunk 2010] Stalling at lower RPM, ASC recommended for carburetor change

My Hero Honda Hunk Modal 2010, tending to switch off at lower RPM and giving hiccups while acceleration.
I gave it for servicing. They recommended for carburetor change.

Problem:

• Almost getting switch off at low RPM, I have to pull off accelerator to high to get it alive
• When I am going to stop the bike, when I disengage the clutch, RPM suddenly reached very high because of above issue. When I leave the accelerator fully it comes back to normal idle to 2K. (Which I had set high)
• Engaging the clutch after disengaging seems like it lost all the power.

Here is what mechanic told
Is this is ultimate solution to change carburetor?
I am in Hyderabad in Lingamaplli area, Could you please suggest good local mechanic for second opinion?

You got plenty of options.
Unicorn 150 is relaunched. We all know it's legendary bike.
If you want 150cc commuter with modest looks, test ride Hero Achiever. Aa you don't want to cross 90k, FZ fi and hornet are out of equation. But Suzuki gixxer is under 90k. It has great performance with decent mileage, superb maneuverability. Test ride it once.

Ur preference should be like this
1. Hero Xtreme/Hunk
2. Hero Achiever
3. Honda unicorn

Take a test ride of these and decide and I won't recommend to buy a unicorn though it feels smooth will give major problems within 30k kms.

Hi friends,
I am Shekhar from Pune.
I need a help in purchasing bike.
I am going to buy a bike in Diwali,it should be 150-160 cc.
Currently I am riding Splendor NXG.(last 6 years), and I am very tired with the bike.
So please suggest me a good bike , mu requirement are as follows-
1) Min 45 kmpl mileage (city)
2) Not more than 90k
3) Good pick up
4) Cheap to Maintain
5) Long lasting ( I'll use it min 5 yrs)

So, I am 5,9" and weighing 90 kgs ( reducing weight ) please suggest me a Good Bike.

Posting after long time, as I'd nothing special to share
Today my Xtreme reached the 75K Mark!
Bike was sitting idle for last 4 months, as I was out of station due to some official commitments.
After this long lay off, battery was unable to retain charge, and I had to push start the bike in the morning
As per Sibun's advice I searched for SF Sonic battery but couldn't find it. I'd to settle with Amaron Pro Rider Beta, as my experience with Exide was not good enough.
Will share about it's performance later.

Not sure if your ASC did the job right.
Take the bike to a good local mechanic and he should be able to resolve your problem.
