Yes, Xtreme is a great choice, reliable, good performance and efficiency , comfy too.

Only problem would be the spare parts availability in the future, as the bike is not selling well.

    Cheers.

      Hi Guys,

Out for a used bike, reliable and efficient all rounder bikes mainly for office use and occasional weekend run. Have been looking keenly into Suzuki GS 150r, but HH is also known to be having reliable bikes from early age in India when there was no international players. I am checking Hunk and CBZ also now and OLX has some good deals too.

As you guys are the users of the bikes, please guide me if its a wise decision to buy an used one? If yes what would be an ideal price for a decent run bike? And hows the maintenance and spare availability on the same?

      Thanks

        Hi Guys!
I'm planning to do a service DIY on my hunk forks, its been due for a long time and the forks have gone really soft.
I will replace oil with motul 20w and 160 ml in each fork and oil seals.
I have gathered all the info required, I just have one confusion.
To remove the inner piston we need a special tool with long length to hold the inner piston, can anybody tell me what will be the required size of tool to hold the piston, I believe it is 10mm.
I plan on welding a 10mm nut at the end of T rod.

        Any advice will be appreciated.

This is what i did for one of my bikes, The Honda Unicorn. Hope it will be the same for hunk and xtreme.
I bought it for Rs.200 from a tools shop three years ago and welded a 11mm nut in the tip and it is a perfect fit holding the piston rod of unicorn front suspension. The length is 55cm.
I used Fork oil bought from Bajaj and quite happy with the suspension performance. Personal opinion is 20W will increase the dampen and will be stiff.
Wish you the best for your DIY.

I read somewhere that it has to be 10mm nut, now im more confused.

Is there anyway to know the exact dimension of fork piston head?

Hunk/Xtreme are great bikes - Good acceleration, decent mileage, nice ride comfort, reliable electricals etc. But getting a used one in decent condition is no easy.
Hunt for one that is having less kms on the odo and check the bike in person in daylight before signing the deal. It is advised to take a mechanic with you if possible, as Hunk/Xtreme engines are sensitive - there are bikes that have munched some good number of kms before doing an engine work, and some of them die in 30k to 40k kms! Get the condition of the engine from your mechanic, as rebuilding the engine costs to nearly 6k-8k (rough). Lookout for the rear shock absorbers, if they are leaking or lacking action - new ones cost around 4k for a pair!
Test ride the bike and look for any abnormal noise in each gear as many bike have reported 3rd gear noises (My Hunk had it when I bought it, had to live with it till I sold it as we have to open the complete engine to repace the gear wheel/bearing).
Resale value of Hunk/Xtreme is low compared to say, a Unicorn.
Spares are not an issue in Kerala.
              Hope this helps.

                  Ji ,
I donot know exact size .But my opinion is ,please made a universal piston holder if you can.
If you made this ,you can use it in any bike. You can also purchase it from market. You can see pics posted by vasco ji,on that tool he welded a nut.
I feel, he do it because that tool is start to slipping from fork piston .

So to made a good tool take a 14 mm or 16 mm dia (rod that used for concreting (2inch length)). Then grind it in pyramid shape. Each side must be equal like square.
Donot use mild steel rod for this it will slip inside the fork piston.

After made this you can take 10 mm rod with length 24-25 inch . And on one side weld the metal piece ,that previously made .
After it ,take 10 mm rod with length 5 and weld it crossly on the other side of large rod(like t).

If you want these two rods, you can use either mild steel or hard steel or it does not make any problem.

Hi I'm one of the prod owner of Hero Honda Hunk 2007. It has done 69k KMS till now. I'm looking to change the Tyre for the same. Enquired about MRF masseter and found that my bike does not support as its only for tubeless variant of hunk but the dealer said that it is possible to use tubeless tyre like normal conventional tyre with tube which cost around 5k for both front and rear. Any suggestion which would help me would be much appreciable. Thanks

                      Hi Saran,
I have used such combination of Mrf Vyde tyre(rear) with tube and it works pretty well.
Reason for using tube was bent rim, which was leaking air.

                      Thanks

Okay. So I use tube less tyre with tube in my hunk. Thanks Nitish

                        • Full Engine Overhaul for my Hunk Bike-2009 Model

I have purchased my bike in 2009 and red alloy wheel version in Okhla,Delhi.Bike was running smooth till 2016 October(50000 kMs) when one fine day on my return to my house in Noida the engine seized 2kms ahead of my destination.I dragged it all the way to my home as being late nigh no local mechanics were open/available.I did an online search and found a local mechanics in sector 49 Noida who offered to take my bike from my home for repair. After 2 days he handed over a bill of 11K and told me the full engine was overhauled and bike will run like new.The assurance lasted only for a day or two as i noticed smoke bellowing from my silencers and i went to him again,He told me that it is minor and some oil might be left in the silencer owing to the smoke. However after a week again i went for a checkup and found out the engine oil was at minimum level. He told me again with minor adjustments he will repair it.Again after a day i got back my bike and after 10 days of running(average 5kms daily) my bike again broke down in the middle of the road.I blasted the mechanic and asked him to repair it free of cost and he did so.

I was running my bike after but my confidence was down and the engine sound too was different and i never drove it for more than 6kms as i feared it will broke down anytime. In february 2017 i finally decided to give a last try at a authorised Hero service center at Uppal Motors Bhangel Noida. The service guy quoted me 11k for half engine and 14k for full engine repair.I got full engine done with a total hit of 14K approx(Bill attached). He asked me not to speed more than 50km/h for upto 500kMs when the next service shall be done.I am driving my bike but i still feel something amiss and not like my original engine sound.

Request the experienced bikers community please help me out by please checking the service bill provided as i do not want to sell my bike and have already invested around 25K for the repair work.

There are two filters - centrifugal filter and mesh filter.
You need to open the right side engine cover to access them.
Centrifugal filter is round in shape and is visible once you open the engine cover.
The mesh filter is placed horizontally and we need to pull it out to see it.
