    Taken on 5th birthday.

Was on way to training. Since it was raining heavily couldn't wash the bike.

    Some features:-

    - After hand building the engine it has become smoother than most extremes.

    - Bike always runs at 80+ kph. Since it is only used for highways.

    - Mileage is in the region of 50-54 kpl which is decent considering the speeds i am maintaining.

    - Headlight is good as running with osram silverstar and led aux lamp.

    - Still no competition in top end. I mean none.

    - While Bosch spark plug made the low end better but mileage was down by 3-5 kpl. But low end was good. But the turbo feeling was not here as bike felt linear. With NGK plug that turbo feeling is back.

    - Front brake free play has increased. May be with age as nothing has been changed in front brake except pads and brake fluid. Planning for overhauling master cylinder with steel braided lines from RS200.

    - Engine oil as usual 10 W 30 grade always.

    - The front ceat and rear zapper Q are going strong for last 30k without a single puncture.

    - Love the bike. Still feels like the day i bought after 87k

Heres a photo after washing and waxing with elder brother:-

It is a costly modification. Parts you need to do this mod
        1. Rear alloy
        2. Rotor
        3. Brake calliper
        4. Brake pads
        5. Calliper mount
        6. Connecting bar
        7. Rear master cylinder
        8. Brake reservoir

Not worth the money u r going to spend imo. Instead get the rear brakes reconditioned with good brake pads
Off the BOTTLE & On the THROTTLE

          Hi Guys,
I faced an issue with my ZMA today.
I had just started the bike and rode for 200m and I was waiting at a signal. The bike shut off and refused to start.
It starts but again shuts off on giving throttle with a feeling as if fuel is missing.
I tried removing the plug wire from the cap and refit the same, but no luck.
After some tries, I parked the bike, waited for 5 mints and tried again. The bike started and everything was perfectly normal.
I don't think this is a case of carb overflow, because I hadn't left the fuel on when I parked the bike.

Is it a case of some loose contact in the ignition circuit? May be a loose CDI connector as PSR sir had mentioned some of the earlier posts in the ZMA thread?

            • 6 Years of bond between a man and a machine

My hunk turned 9 Years old this month. Some may think is it a BMW or Ducati that I’m praising about but, he is a precious bike for me. Yes, what you have read before is right and it’s not a typo he was bought on 2007 November by my brother. Some may think the below story is too much for a 150cc outdated motorcycle, but believe it all these are based on real life feelings, emotions, joy, fun…….

              Acquisition of Jackey:
There was more confusion between Unicorn, Pulsar and Hunk before making the purchase decision I’m the one who said not to go for Hunk as that was just launched and I was telling him to go for unicorn as one of my friend owned it and I rode it too, It was so smooth as flying in the Air. After a week my brother said that he was going to book hunk but I was not fulfilled with his decision. He booked the bike and said that it was a Red Colour hunk. He named him as Jackey (Still I don’t know why he named him like that – I didn’t ask about it to him still now). He was working in Chennai which is around 500 KMs from Madurai the place where I live. I was not that much interested in that bike and thought I should buy unicorn or Pulsar 150.

              Brother with surprise:
One normal boring day in my house I came to hear a sound of unicorn outside my house (My house located in the outskirts of Madurai so there will be no vehicles pass-by as it is the end of the road. If some uses the road they must be coming to my house) I went and saw outside it was a surprise to see that my brother came in his Hunk. He said that he rode the bike from Chennai to Madurai all alone. At that time, I had TVS victor so any vehicle 150 cc bike was like more power to me. I took the bike for a ride and I was simply amazed. The ride was as smooth as cutting butter with hot knife. It easily touched 60 Kmph without any vibration which was a very new thing for me. Heads turned up towards the bike (there were not much full fared or attractive bike at that time – Bikini fared bike P220 and Karizma were existing at that time though). Then my aim changed from getting a new unicorn/pulsar pleading my dad. The new mission is to get Hunk from my brother for an exchange with TVS victor which he agreed for that but he said that he will give after few months.

              Hard work never fails:
After that Every time I spoke to my brother I will be asking when will you send the bike repeatedly and finally one day he sent the bike through private parcel service and the few months said by him became 3 years. It was like getting a new bike from showroom I went along with my friends to get the bike from the parcel service. He clocked around 32k in 3 years. I filled with the petrol which we bought and cranked it wondering will it be as smooth as when it was new and again the bike surprised me with smooth performance.

              Rides with Hunk:
I was enjoying every ride with him. Even the shorter one be it a shop or friend’s house. Had frequent rides to kodai kanal(Small hill town about 120 kms from madurai) with him which never bored. Years passed by and I have to move to Chennai as my family members were there and yes in search of job too. I had a plan for Madurai to Chennai with him. I and my friend got up at 3.30 AM and started from Madurai at 4 AM had some frequent halts. I was cruising as 80kmph and the bike was stress free. Reached Chennai around 12PM. Even at time of floods in Chennai my hunk passed through roads which was nearly 4 feet of water without any hiccups.
This month he turned 9 years old. I gave him a treat in ASC for 3k. Even now I have no decision to change him for a new bike. He still satisfies in every twist that I make. Now he has just 66k Kms in ODA hope he will do best in upcoming years.

                    Hi Hunk Owners,

My friend who owns a GS150R was about to get a new bike and i recommended Hunk/Extreme to him. After riding every bike in the 150 CC category he was happy to go for Hunk because of its seating position which was similar to GS150R.

We got delivery of the bike and have completed 233 Kms till date. I am planning to do a 150+150 KM trip tomorrow in his Hunk to ensure he completes 750 KMs before first service.

I have run-in many bikes before and ensured they are not ripped off before first service (except for my first bike). I have promised myself that I will not go beyond 60KMPH in his bike for the entire trip.

As of now, the bike is having cold start issues. Service centers filled the tires with Nitrogen during delivery.
The trip will be from Chennai to Thirumala and back and I will be riding with a pillion.

Is there anything I need to know about this bike before my short trip tomorrow (8th December) ?

                    Cheers,
                    Anand

Migrating from a GS150 to a Hunk is pretty simple as both bikes are similar in many aspects.
And, 300 kms round trip should be a cake walk for a new Hunk. As usual have proper tire pressure, correctly adjusted chain slack, tool kit etc.
One thing that comes to my mind is to ensure you have the headlight alignment set properly.
Once I had trouble on a ride outside Chennai, as I was riding in well lit roads and didn't realize that the alignment was off.

Mech messed up the AFR tuning.

What's the perfect screw turns for performance / balanced output?

                          Hi all,
From few days I was facing tappet noise issue, so today I visited for this problem.
Mechanic agreed to adjust tappet with feeler gauge. But the process of pre adjustment was not satisfactory. Means
He just align the markings of big timing chain sprocket after opening head cover. The dotted marking was toward exhaust.
He neither checked is it in TDC stage nor he checked it by manually movement of rockers. He adjusted exhaust value as .10mm and inlet value as 0.8mm. He didn't listen my words of inlet value as 0.6mm.
After adjustment bike gain some performance and NVH is good. But after engine optimal temperature, tappet noise is still present and tappet are louder than before.
Now it's very frustrating as I don't want to unnecessary fiddling by service centre so kindly suggest me the solution.
