    Hi guys,

    I need your help with this issue on my xtreme. I ride a 2010 xtreme and clocked around 50,000 KM on it. Recently the battery went kaput and I have been using kick start ever since. This is the original battery that came with the bike. As expected there is no horn, indicators or proper headlight without the battery. I plan on getting the battery replaced later this week.

    I got the oil changed around 200Kms back. I find this strange starting problem. When I kick start (using choke) the bike, the engine fires up. It idles properly for a few mins, when I sit on the bike (after unchoking) , slot it into gear and move forward it dies all of a sudden. After that no amount of kicks can start the engine.

    This evening, I decided to take a closer look. I removed the seat and inspected the air filter, it was fairly clean. I turned the handle and kicked it, the bike started without any fuss. I did not even use the choke. After I idled the bike, I turned the handle bar, the engine died. I noticed this a couple of time. Anyone else facing this issue ? What is the solution.

          There will be white hub like thing(do not know the name of it) from where the ignition wire come out. Please check it if it loose or touching some other part when handle is turned to straight position.
          The below image is just a sample it happens when the wires have become old with age and break inside it.
          In my opinion it is not an engine problem it is just some loose contact.Click image for larger version

            Today we refreshed [MENTION=28241]ATHUL4R[/MENTION] 's ride after a 4 month resting period.



            Things changed;

            1. Front and Rear brake fluid replaced.
            2. Clutch and Throttle cable changed.
            3. Spark plug changed.
            4. Engine oil changed.
            5. Air filter changed.
            6. Carburetor insulator changed(Honda Unicorn's used as stock was unavailable)
            7. Fuel line changed(Activa's cropped and used as stock was not available.)


            After this we drained the carburetor and tank, filled in fresh fuel, opened up the drain screw with the fuel on to speed things up and thumbed the starter, the motor turned over a couple of times and no sooner the battery was drained(perfectly alright battery) so we had to push start the bike till she fired and rode around for a bit after which we changed AFR setting to 2.5 turns and the motorcycle was up and ready to resume its duties.

            But the experience got us thinking, why not try a bigger battery? This motorcycle would soon be modified to suit off-road so due to not having a kicker we would be dependent on the battery much more and if similar instances reoccur when we're stuck in terrain that would not facilitate push starting then it could possibly leave us stranded.

            Hence kindly pour in your suggestions, we're fine with either a bigger battery or retro fitting a kicker.

              The white hub like thing is called as a connector. I left the bike at the showroom. There was some problem with the wiring. Apparently some wire was causing a short or grounding was not properly done. It is fixed for now. I insisted that the entire wire harness be changed, but the mechanic assured me that it will work fine. Wish I could trust him, but so far so good

                  Hi guys,

                  I could see the front fork oil is being leaked from my Hero Xtreme.
                  What could be the issue?
                  I have stopped visiting the ASC even for my general service because they are charging a lot on labour and i am returning with complete dissatisfaction every time.
                  My current general service is being taken care by a road side mechanic. Coming to this issue i feel this should be handled with proper care which i feel a road side mechanic may or may not handle it properly. So i am planning to take my bike to the ASC.
                  Please tell me what could be the issue?
                  Do i need to change the entire front fork kit or its just need a fork oil change with sealant replacement?
                  Anyone has done this work in the ASC and what could be estimate cost in Hero ASC....

                    It depends on what needs to be repaired or replaced. If it is a simple seal (that black rubber ) which you see, it will hardly cost 100Rs, and the fork oil should cost around 90Rs. My bike had a similar (or probably worse) leakage. I had to change the fork tube one side. It cost me 1.1k apprk for the entire work. Better leave it to the ASC, they should be able to provide you with an estimate at least.

                      Nothing to worry about. Change the oil seal, and fork oil too for both the forks. Its not that tedious for mechanics, any reputed mechanic can do this job.
                      Oil seal ~Rs 100
                      Oil ~ Rs 80 per bottle, one bottle for each fork. Approx 160ml for one fork, bottle comes with 180ml i think.

                      The alternator should be able to feed the bigger battery. Already the stock alternators are not that powerful. Hence you may not get the benefit of the bigger battery. Even then the bigger battery wil have higher amp which needs to be taken care.

                      Did you check the clutch lever freeply .? If it is ok then probably your Carb tuning is not good.

                                And one more thing i want to know that, what is that thing on hunk which is situated under the gas tank on left side whic has three pipe, one is from the valve top cover which is a ss pipe, one goes to the manifold and other one goes to the air filter box. I hope you gyus understand what I'm talking about. Please let me know what this thing is and what it do. Thankd all.
