The newer ones are made to be softer, with a more progressive feel. You Classic owners will find it a bit too soft for your liking!
    Thanks for the reply.

One question - Which current bike do you think matches or betters the brake of the Pulsar 150 classic? Apache? You see, in case I upgrade from this bike, I do not want to miss its terrific braking!

As I said, the new gen bikes have progressive braking. You won't get the Classic Pulsar feel on them anymore. Not that these don't do the job well, its only to reduce danger caused due to sudden panic braking.
But if you ask me my personal opinion, R15 has the best brakes in the business. I'm not saying this only coz I have one, I have ridden&compared with many other bikes, thats why.

The headlight was a bit weak too. And the main problem I felt - The disk brake was too soft. Engine was ok.

Now, my question - Will the disk brake improve after a few hundred kilometers? OR are they a bit weaker by design?

        p.s. - I ride a Pulsar 150 Classic.
Honda s have progressive but spongy discs. They lack the sharp bite as in the RTR and Pulsar.

The hard gearshifts would become smooth as the kms go by!

Rightly said. And one more advantage of those is that they don't lock the wheels so easily as in case of pulsar or RTR on hard breaking.

As far as hard gearshifts are concerned I have heard lot of pulsar 150 and other 100CC bike riders complain of it. I personally think that may be due to difference in the lever that these bikes have. For most pulsar 150 riders use the heel option to change the gears and with that option missing here it might be a little hard feeling when you change gears.

          • I do hope so that the gearshifts will get smoother. But right now, with 20 kms on the odo, the gearshift is very hard. And, I use toe shift on all bikes.

I'v experienced this too but then I never really gave it a second thought..it happens at around 90kmph and the rpm meter is at about 7.5-8k? Its all going smooth and then suddenly u get a slight pull-push jerk and the bike accelerates a lot more...It doesn't happen all the time and I just assumed its something to do with the rpm going towards the maximum. If nothing I enjoyed it because its as you said it gives you the feeling of having some extra power . Its been a while though since I rarely get a chance to cross 80 in Mumbai.

              • ^^mine does that too but @ higher RPMs.My front disc was pathetic for the 1st 10000kms after a visit to castrol Bz They took the front disc assembly off and changed my brake pad it cost only Rs 150.My breaking has become xtreme infact its better than my 180 pulsar(spokes version).Apache breaking is awesome but with the kind of acceleraton of the R15 if its breaking is even better i would not be surprised.

Its been 800kms since i poured 1200ml of motul 300v the oil level has not changed much. But mine takes 1200ml when the manual clearly states only 900.As any one exp. this.

The Oil Capacity as mentioned in manual is 1.2 litres while the recommended filling is approximately 900ml. See page 16 and 17 in the manual. Haven't tried pouring in 1200ml though so don't know the impact of that. I too poured in motul 300v last week(only 900ml though). The bike feels great. Motul is a superb oil. Also I asked the shop fellow here about the 5w30 of 300v as its posted on the motul site. He said it ll be coming soon.

I check the oil level by idling the bike on main stand for exactly 5 min then take the dipstick out wipe it clean then re insert it without screwing it in.
to get the oil level to the max mark i have to pour 1200ml.Even with CP1R it was the case i thought it was the leakage that caused it but now i know .

What diff you notice after going the motul way.As your pick-up increased with a pillion?.Does your bike became silent @ high RPM.
For me when i am cruising @ 90Km/hr with a pillion i have no noise its dead silent its like i am floating on air.I feel like the whole engine is floating on butter. My bike shows the same speed but t@ lower Rpm have you noticed it but no change in top speed, pickup etc.infact i feel the pickup is better than CP1R.

Even hydbyker sir asked to take a snap i will try to do that when i go their next time but it came in a yellow box.

                        @sarvajit cannot compare R15 with a CBX.The R15 is a monster cannot believe its a 150.

                        • @sarbanoxley: Special thanks to you for sending the part across. My friend has got it installed a few days back (lazy bum)&he is very happy to see his speedo functioning normally (it had stopped at some 8K whereas true reading should have been past 30K).

Anyways, R15 is a monster no doubt, but it is still a 150cc mill&gives me about 43 kms.to a litre in city even after all the high speed runs.

About the oil level, mine reaches just about the Max mark so the mechanic told that its quite ok. And moreover the risk of running with excessive oil is spark plug fouling.

The bike has become very silent. No vibes at all. Seems like I'm riding a Uni. Cruising at top end speeds is relatively easier and comfortable now. Not so much of a change in pick up . Overall the engine is very smooth and silent now though I had two misfires while riding at 80 today. Otherwise no problems yet. Very satisfied with the oil.

@sarban: Which brake pads did you switch to dude? tell me more about it.

Idling for 5 full mins?? Dude, don't you think you are wasting a lot of fuel?? I just check mine after the engine cools a bit after its hot from riding. Or often when its cold also. Saves time and FUEL and the engine!!
