  • Hunk Memory

guys one thing, if in any case i were to remove the battery of my hunk, the total mileage on my odo, would it be as it was or reset to 0. Does hunk have any ROM like memory?

Lean = Effort towards what you want, Rich = Effort towards what you need.

Thanks. Then it has some kind of memory of it's own, which can be rewritten, yes?

I am getting a noise from my chain..................took it to the HH showroom.................they said it was because of less lubrication which they apparently claimed to fix....................but still now whnever i am shifting between gears 1 and 2 it gives a noise........katakat.............sorry for the sound effects.....................any idea wats goin on..........

It might be bcoz of two reasons:
1.Check the Chain slackness...If the chain is too loose you will get the sound that you have mentioned....
2.By the way, what is the number on Odo? If the number on odo is 30K you need to change the sprockets as well.

Removal of Battery on any bike has nothing to do with the odo....

              • 200 kays..

Crossed 200 kms on the odo this evening.

                Ride report

needless to say, this bike is just soothing to ride. And, the thing i like most in it is its stability. Breaks are good, and so are suspension and handling. Neither great, nor poor. Engine is gettin better with time.

But there were a few issues at the same time.
                1. Battery was dead on the second day of purchase. Got it replaced at home, free of cost.
                2. Fuel guage going crazy. but seems calm and settled off late.
                3. White smoke from the exhaust - seen only once. Fine afterwards.
                4. Gears are really on the rougher side. Esp. 4th and 5th. Needs a good effort to shift to 5th. And it always tends to fall in neutral and not come to 5th. (never happened though. It just tends)
                5. Messed up the idling, but got it just right today. Its all fine now.

                Regards.

yea, we do. When gas leaks out of the gas reservoir suspension, we need to refill or top it up. This is not a regular maintainance procedure. Only when the gas is out, we need to do it.

                          • AH..! FORGOT TO SAY SOMETHING.

TOOK MY SISTER FOR A RIDE TODAY. (TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE HARTAL ). ITS THE SECOND TIME SHE EVER GETS ON A BIKE I THINK. AND FOR THE FIRST TIME ON MINE. I WAS RIDING LIKE 30-35 KMPH. STILL SHE WAS SACRED AND HOLDING ME SO TIGHT THAT IT WAS HARD FOR ME TO BREATHE. . WHEN BACK HOME, SHE TOLD DAD "HE RIDES SO FAST. I WAS REALLY SACRED". I WAS LIKE AND AT THE SAME TIME.

                              > On a stretch in ring road I normally reach around 100 speedo most of the time. Stretch is 2-3 kms and irrespective of any RPM gear changes one can reach 100 in matter of 20-25 secs after a signal.
                              > But today bike was reading just 80-85kmph and RPM could not go beyond 6500 RPM, but i used to reach 8000 rpm w/o any issues earlier.

                              Some background
                              > Bike was exposed to heavy rains 3 days back. Drove the bike in wading waters at atleast 10 places. But it was below one foot depth and silencer tip never touched water level.
                              > Just changed oil yesterday b'cos oil was 4000kms old
                              > Rear wheel rotates freely no problem
                              > Checked underseat rubber suction port immediately after heavy rain, there was no water, in fact it was dry, so there should not be any prob with air filter clogging I guess...
                              > Idle RPM is bit moody after rainy day ?
What could have gone wrong ?
Just opened up the airfilter and found 'flakes' of dirt on the surface, the dust was moulded due to some water entering the airfilter I guess...now the bike is OK...
Today checked the bike on BETL reaches 60 kmph @4700 & 70 kmph @5500 & 80kmph@ 6000 rpm didn't go beyond that...that's the speed limit of BETL So still unclear if the bike would reach 8000rpm like it used to reach before. But I am happy upto 6000 rpm, it is as expected, and I found FE to be ~54kmpl (reserve to reserve, pure city drive), it was ~50kmpl 3 months back.
                              ....-------.....
I have one question guys, has anybody tried 20w40 on Hunk/Xtreme/Achiever? If so what are the changes observed? or what are the logical changes that we can expect with 20w40 oil ? Uni/Dazzi still uses 20w40 & it's siblings use 10w30 ??

Even though HH recommends 10W30 oil for new karizma,HH used 20W40 in old karizma but now they use 10W30 oil in older karizma too. Many had reported that changing from 10W30 to 20W40 reduces engine sound and increases smoothness.
