    • Very less bite disk brake on SZ-R 2012 version.

      Hello Friends !
I have Yamaha SZ-R (2012). And its Disk Brake have very less bite from begining. Other bikes like Hunk, Pulsar 150, CBZ, SZ-RR have approxmetely same size rotor and Bybre calipers like my bike but they have Very good braking bite.
my Quetion is that can I use other Bike's Bybre Caliper or any Bybre Caliper and master cylinder. I think the mouting on forks are same according to Rotor size...just The Caliper braket design are diffrent for the size of Rotor .

Yes you can as long as they fit your bike mounting points on fork leg, however I suggest you to try changing brake pad, getting your rotors checked for uneven wear and change brake fluid atleast every year. New set of rubber sealant o-rings for the piston calipers. This overhaul should cost you less than ₹500.

Note: A gripping tyre is also essential for better braking. I use Michilen Pro City tyre instead of the TVS tyres.

          • Carburetor Pilot screw ( Air fuel mixer screw) stucked.

Hi Friends! I owns a Yamaha SZ-R. I have checked the spark plug to ensure that engine is getting balance aie fuel mixer but what I have got is black carbon layerd electrods. Air filter is clean and new So I decided to Tune to Carburetor but the pilot screw is so tight and unable to move even applying torque with big screw driver. I tried with applying pentrating spray(zorric) with lil bit of impact but doesn't work. could I apply Heat over it for loosen it ?

Please suggest me some solution. Thanks in Advance !

            • My new SZ-RR

My old bike: Classic Pulsar 150 (2003-2018)

My new bike: SZ-RR (purchased March 2018).

Thank you all for your contributions to this thread and to this forum, which were of great help to me for choosing the bike.

I have ridden my new bike for the past 10 days. I am very happy with it so far. The only con that I have noticed so far is the poorly designed heel-and-toe gear shifter, which is too long and not properly angled for shifting up.

Hallo to everyone. I have a yamaha sz 2011 model. Carburettor of my bike has went wrong. Now I have to change it. After a long research i have found that we can fit yamaha fz16 carb in our bike. As both the bike shares same engine and also the tps sensor cdi and electricals are same. Can anyone clarify if the carb going to work as good as it works in fz?
                Thanks in advance!

Yes. The carb is same but then jets and tuning is slightly different. Yamaha spares are available at any of the Yamaha authorised seller.

Don't do that, take it to a mechanic. Because you may have to open it up and check.

Recently had been to Ooty on a monsoon ride. Bike did good and was stable even at 100+kmph, but when returning I chose the Salem route and eventually the chain had run dry and was getting stuck, I also observed that the engine oil had dropped to low level mark.

So topped up the oil and performed some DIY on the bike before yet another weekend ride. Adjusting the chain, cleaning air filter and lubricating joints, etc.

The bike performance was good after doing this. However, it does need a nice wash soon. [emoji54]

Low oil level is a bad symptom, i had the same signs after 44k kms, and after a 2000km long trip at 52k kms, I had only 400ml oil left. So keep an eye on that dipstick from now on.

Yes. Since I usually go on long trips and end up redlining a lot to maintain steady 80-100kmph the bore seems to have worn a little, this has also effected my fuel economy.

I have given the bike for service at a local mechanic that I know, same one who had prepared my bike for Leh. The reason is because the SVC always replaces parts and it's too expensive (about 8-10k with labour), meanwhile computerised reboring with new 0.25mm bigger piston head from company itself should cost me around ₹2-3k. Will update once I get the bike back on Saturday.

They are cheating you. I am attaching a bill of my only major expense at 50,000 kms after 3 Himalayan ride and several long touring through Sikkim and Sandakhphu range. There is no point of reboring, piston cylinder kit itself costs less than 2.5k. I have good relationship with the SVC people, that helps a lot.

N:B:. Before this major repair work, the bike was fine. But i go for this major overhaul as after a 2000km long trip at 80-100kmph, i found only 200ml engine oil left. I have my Bhutan trip coming so decided to go for the overhaul.

Me too. First got it shown at SVC who said to open the engine they charge ₹2.5k+gst and spares might be about 3-5k. I was planning on upgrading my bike so I decided to get it done cheaper. The spares are all from Yamaha itself. I spent 4k including basic service and rebore labour costs, new tappets and cylinder head, rebore done for 0.2mm. I will also get another 2 free service from him after running in the initial period of 500km (oil change only) and 2000km(basic service, no wash). As of now it is returning 42-45kmpl.

Seems like you did a complete engine overhaul. By the way you were billed twice for piston rings set. Why? What about your bike labour expenses for that??

Damn! I didn't see that. Must have been a billing mistake. I too did not notice. I paid 360 rupees extra. Don't think anything can be done now. Labor charge was 1200 INR. Labor bill was another separate bill, so did not include it.
