  • Chock cable problem with Yamaha SZ-R

    Hi All,
Posting here after a long time.

    Bike: Yamaha SZ-R 2011 model

Problem: RPM reduces while turning the handle left or right. And the engine turning off if I turns it extremely to any side.

Throttle cable replaced with OEM. Still the issue is there.
    My observations are follows.

    Culprit is the chock system.
If I shake the chock cable while idling, the engine is turning of. So how to fix the problem

Waiting for the help from experts here.

    Thanks in advance.

But there was a catch, the air filter box design on our older SZ models dont let in more air hence at very high altitude (16000+) I had to open up the air filter but I made sure to fit it back after I dropped down to lower than 16k ft.

Otherwise the bike performance was doable and perhaps better than other 150cc bikes like pulsars. The good low end torque helped pull through river crossings and the Michelin Sirac Street tyres gave excellent grip on ice, tarmac, snow, slush, sand, stones and all kinds of road and weather conditions.

I hope you are from South India. From where did you start your journey? Have you faced any problem with the bike while travelling up and down to Khardungla. Can you upload some more photos and share some more experience you had with the bike.

Its just the paint and decal(sticker) styling. SP stands for Special Edition. Solid Gear may be a indication to Metal Gear Solid - a Sony game series.
Basically its a military green matte finish paint with yellow decals.

There is no change whatsoever in the technical specification of the SZ or FZ bikes.

I am attaching the latest bill so that people who want to see pricing for some parts at SVC.
The throttle cable cost is for single or double ! Because I was charged RS.450 for return cable and primary cable .

Met with an accident when doing a recent long trip. Some truck driver did not see me before shifting lanes.

I was doing 90km/h+ speed when I saw him move lanes 75m ahead. I jammed the front disc brakes to do wheelie stop, yet ended up rear ending him and hit my head too - Helmet protected. I balanced and pulled to side without fall. But was in a shock on what just happened so could not note down truck details or chase..

I had to continue and reach destination, thanks to fog lights it helped to continue and finish my 1000km trip.

Now need to check insurance details and leave the bike to service.

                Thank God !

Have a safe ride bro .

There are few truck/Auto drivers who never notice vehicle's behind them/use indicator due to tiredness/Laziness. So we should be very careful once we notice Truck ahead in the road.

I hope you are good now !

But one strange thing is he didn't even noticed that crash !

                  Yes. I agree.

Meanwhile my bike is at the SVC for last 10days. Insurance inspection and approval for it was done in day 2 itself. Now, they are yet to source the fork leg. It seems the fork leg on the new SZR is not same as the old ones because they have single pot brake caliper so mount points are different.

₹11k of which 7k I got in insurance claims.

Hello, I need to replace my yamaha szr's tyres so can anyone suggest the best option available?
I'm currently using zapper fs for front and zapper C (120/80) for rear. Though I like wide tyres but this time I'm looking for better mileage and speed also something that lasts long.

I've heard that zapper s can give superb stability and speed. Is it true?

Zappers are good but not so good on roads where loos soils, stones and sands are there. You can try Michelin Sirac/Pilot. Offers good grip on both type of roads even at high speed.
I was also using Zapper C and thought it was the best in class until I switched over to Michelin(I own a 2012 SS125).
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Well, are they long lasting? And what size are you using for ss125?

Yes, Michelins are famous for being durable and will last as good as any other brand. Best thing is Pilot is made of medium compound.
                                Size is 100/80.
