      1. Yamaha SZ-R is O' Ring chain or normal. ?
      2. If it is good to use grease, what is the grade?.
      3. What are the solutions available other than costly Yamaha lube and Motul chain lube. (Are they available in small quantity?)

      Thanks in advance

      1. Which version of SZR are you speaking? My 2011 SZR is not a O-ring chain.

      2. Don't use grease, it attracts sand and muck, which can wear the sprocket faster.

      3. I have been using Tribocor lube can that costs around 300rs for 500g. It lasts almost 2 yrs, since I spray once in 400-600km.

Yeah the pipe in the red circle was missing on a bike i saw. Do you really need this pipe or it can be removed like that.

Did you mean it's petrol overflow pipe, but isnt that pipe the small width transparent one, below the carburettor.
      No, its not necessarily needed.

On my bike, that tube used to keep coming off since I don't have a clip to hold it. The opening is to let out any overflow of mixture, say like whenever you pull full throttle and cut it off suddenly. In no way there is anything going into it. Even those bikes which have the tube, it just goes a little distance behind the air filter box and ends there.
There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

I am using the sane version only - 2011. I too think this is not an O' ring type. Is there any way to identify this?

        No, its not necessarily needed.
It is better to keep that pipe in place. Other wise It may become dirty soon.

          • Re: Yamaha SZ-X / SZ-R Engine Oil For Smooth Ride

            Good Morning XBHPians,

I have a doubt regarding engine oil for my Yamaha SZ-R.

I feel my bike is butter smooth when riding in the night time, where as little bit rough in the day time especially in the after noon. I think this is something related with environment temperature. Engine oil suggested by the manufacture is SAE 20-W-40 or SAE 20-W-50. Now I am using 20-w-40.

            My doubts are below.

            1. What will be the difference in using this two oil grades. (20-W-40, 20-W-50) ?
            2. I need the butter smooth ride in the day time(high temperature) also. What should I do for this?

            Thanks in advance,
            Nidin

first clean carb. if it still doesn't solve the problem then check if fuel screw is tuned such that afr is too rich.

Thanks curve_king for your reply. I will clean carburetor on my next service. Then what about oil grade? which once will be suitable 20-W-40 or 20-W-50?

                • Too tight cush rubber. Is it faulty?

                  Hi XBHPians,

I have replaced the cush rubber (damper cush) of my Yamaha SZ-R with OEM spare. And I have completed 2000 KMs with it. Now I have faced a strange thing, Don't know this is a problem or not!. Last week the back wheel got a puncture. And the mechanic was not able to remove the back wheel after removing the axle. It was stuck with the sprocket housing and cush rubber. So we have removed the drive chain and taken the wheel and sprocket as a single unit to repair the puncture. As per mechanic this is common with new bikes and the cush rubber will become loose when it become old.

Waiting for expert's advice on the above scenario. Thanks in advance.

A review on new pair of tyres was pending. Frankly, I decided on these after thinking too much

Hi Robin / Other OMR folks, are you still stuck with Raj Yamaha, or are there any good local alternatives?
I should be getting an SZ RR 2.0 very soon for my dad, wanted to see if there was a reliable service place
