Re: Yamaha SZ-R Clucth Adjustment
Sorry for late reply.....I know of no mechanic to take care of your problems in the areas specified, and sorry to note that you have no proper place to do DIY...Guess other members from the forum will be helpful in this regard.Originally posted by Nidin View PostWhen Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Latest update, I have replaced my spark plug with NGK, Purchased from Yamaha ASC. Existing plug was replaced before 4000-5000 KM by my local mechanic.
It was Bosch plug, don't know the exact model number. But it was written as BOSCH R6. After replacing with NGK stock plug, I feel the bike is very much smooth.
Thanks,
Nidin

@ deville_56
@Nidin
Thanks for the details. Actually my question was not completed. Internet problems
I was asking it is better to take the bike to service center or rather visit a local mechanic. I've heard many horror stories on how these A.S.S fleece users in the name of paid service.
Also, if anyone got some time, can you please post a pic of your szr carburettor . I saw a bike with a pipe sticking out of carburettor at top but wasn't connected. Would be great to know if it is supposed to be that way or not.
Again Thanks"It's not who I am underneath but what I do that defines me."

Thank you for taking out the time to post that.
Yeah the pipe in the red circle was missing on a bike i saw. Do you really need this pipe
or it can be removed like that.
@ @KinZ
Did you mean it's petrol overflow pipe, but isnt that pipe the small width transparent one, below the carburettor.Last edited by sushant_infotag; 05-12-2016, 11:28 PM."It's not who I am underneath but what I do that defines me."

Re: Yamaha SZ-X / SZ-R
Just wanted to share this.
It had happened a while back. The head was leaking oil near the top cover junction.
At first I thought its due to me using full-synth oil so I didn't pay much attention. Approx. 5 ml (in 1500 kms) used to leak. Didn't even leave a trail. Just a lot of dust sticking which can be seen in the attached picture.
I first noticed that undulation(circled in green) when I opened up to adjust valve clearances.
So when I finally shook off my laziness & decided to make it right this is what followed:
Opened the head cover.
Stuffed a bit of a large piece of cloth just beside this knick which rested on the valve assembly cover.
Took a coarse & fine grit paper & made it smooth to my liking.
The chipped off part looks tiny in the picture but while sanding took a bit of time to come off with coarse grit.
Carefully cleaned & wiped off any metallic powder that could reach inside head & cloth was taken out.
Then put everything back & now even after 1000 kms its not leaking i.e no dust seen.
P.S: all thanks to sibun ji for guiding me correctly.

Re: Yamaha SZ-X / SZ-R
Haven't still been able to correctly figure out that tubes function. My carb used to get a lot dirty around that opening. I think its still visible at the sides in the picture.Originally posted by sushant_infotag View PostTh...Do you really need this pipe...small width transparent one, below the carburettor.
Maybe its overflow pipe , but to take care of overflow of air/fuel mix.
That transparent one is to take care of petrol in float bowl.

Re: Yamaha SZ-X / SZ-R
Hi Xbhpians,
I was using yellow color grease for lubricating the drive chain. I don't know what grade it is. I doubt it is actually used for ball baring. I need to find a good lubrication as the grease can is empty now. I don't like the old engine oil for chain lubrication.
1. Yamaha SZ-R is O' Ring chain or normal. ?
2. If it is good to use grease, what is the grade?.
3. What are the solutions available other than costly Yamaha lube and Motul chain lube. (Are they available in small quantity?)
Thanks in advance

A: As per Manual Chain is O ring.

A: IDK

A: If you are looking for lube lasting for more KM than these yamaha and motul ones the go for tribocor brand. as what i've read on xbhp by users seems it last for 700+kms. but don't know which grade to use.
Thanks in advance
Nidin
hope it helps.

Re: Yamaha SZ-X / SZ-R
Thanks for your reply. But what is 'IDK'?. I have heard 90 W gear oil is good for chain lubrication. But is that available in small quantity like 100 ML?. I have searched in on line shopping sites where it is available in 500 ML only. If you know about this kindly suggest me the brand name also.Originally posted by jP5an View Posthope it helps.
