I was also getting 45kmpl but now from past 4000 kms I am getting 40-41kmpl at max.

Started my bike after 4 months. Battery wasnt completely down but had little bit of powered remained. Being First gen SZ-R it doesnt have kicker. First I made sure the petrol reached the cerb, after that I pushed he bike for about 5-10 mins on a slope. Parked the bike on center stand, moved the gear to 2nd, moved the rear wheel and voila! Bike started, gave it a good idling for few mins. Then gave good amount of throttle saw black smoke coming out of exhaust, it vanished after some time. Front brake was initially fine but later on entire lever was touching the hand grip, though its a air problem. Tyre pressure was real low but low enough to ride to the nearest local mechanic.

Took the bike to local mechanic tyres were taken care of, asked him to bleed the front brake to remove the air, he opened the valve bled the oil little bit and the oil stopped, he opened the oil container and it was spoiled with muddy deposit. He cleaned it petrol and then put a DOT3 oil, bled, removed the air and it worked as it was before, total cost for this, Rs. 50/-. Service center would have charged me more than Rs. 250/-

Took the bike for servicing, again started with the hand in second gear. Normal oil change, chain lube and service, asked him to charge the battery. After the service mechanic told me there very less water in the battery he topped it but I think he didnt charge the battery properly, button start didnt work properly, he said battery would charge in running.

Its been 3 years and 10 months now, I have been using this bike with almost everything as fitted on first day. Changed air filter only once. Front brake pads only once, didnt touch the rear brake apart from overhauling, still going good. Didnt check the mileage, lets see how much does it gives.

        Happy to ride again.

          Hi all,

It's my first post in this forum. I have been digging through this thread for the past week now trying to read up more and more about the SZ siblings. I am in the market for a used SZ and have stumbled upon SZ-R 2012 July model which has just 8600 clicks on the Odo. Owner is a shop owner who uses the bike to ride to and fro from his shop and occasional shopping spree in the city. Has ridden the bike only once on a highway where he said the bike consumed around 50-52 KMPL. In his normal in-city jaunts, he gets around 45KMPL. The bike is in top condition with only the carburetor replaced around a month back. No accidents and dents to speak of and owner seems to have maintained it very well.

My question is how much should this bike fetch. I have zeroed upon the SZ only and this seemed like a good opportunity. The owner quoted 45K. New one costs 72K OTR for SZ-RR version and 68K OTR for SZ-S.

          Please advise!

I took a ride of his bike and am in love with it already .

He's asking toooo much .sz has a poor second hand market value ,it's already two years old ,it'll be okay if he gives it in 32k max.

35k will b a gd deal. still sz rr v2.0 is the best buy. u get tubeless tyres, engine kill switch, new blue core technology with confirmed 50+ mileage... i hav sz r 2011, it returns 43-4kmpl.. and hav to change piston cylinder kit set once... its the nest 150cc bike in the market below 85k proce range..

Exhaust is popping around 3000 rpm & below.
Spark plug insulator showing brown (not black, not white) colour so no lean conditions.
Sound is irritating. Changed SAI valve in the hope that popping will go but its still there.
It pops on deceleration &/or downshifting, when clutch lever is pulled in to change gears & even when clutch not pulled in and same gear maintained. Dont know what seems to be the problem.. :banghead:

I'm sorry if you didn't understand what I said in the post. And even I'm not sure what you're getting at.

I'm worried as this was not happening a few hundred kms before. So help still needed here.

i got u.. its normal for a bike to make popping noise when decelerating from higher rpm... actually in proper tuning conditions (spark electrode brown) some of the carbon particles exit from exaust making that noise... i can assure u this is a healthy habit... unless the popping ocurss at acceleration

Many thanks for your reply guys. The said person is not willing to come down from his asking price. I'll continue to search for other used options as I cannot afford to get a new one at this moment (don't wanna go the finance route either).
There are couple of other SZ-Rs but both have clocked mileages in excess of 25K but priced in the 35K region.

Ideal price for that deal should be 35k but if you are convinced with its condition and considering its low meter reading you can pay extra 2000 but dont forget to check its service record which will ensure its meter reading is genuine or not.

BTW I have switched to 60/55watt bulb for better illumination in nights and I am satisfied with its results. Intesity of light is much better now and my 1 year 8 months old battery is handling it with ease.

Have you upgraded to dual round headlamps...?? If yes please post some pictures especially your display picture as I am not able to analyze it in a proper way because of its small size.

i did a lot of mods in my bike headlight modified, dual hid 35w rear fender modified, fz fender along with led strobe light. engine modified.. stiffer valve spring race camshaft and carb tuned... still returns 42-5kmpl mileage and acceleration figure is mind blowing! top speed of 125kmph also.. due to fz chain sprocket kit.. had k&n filter bt its nt that gd. so changed back to stock filter. and using the costiest engine oil motul 300v 15w50!! love the way bike overtakes any 150cc and give a tuff battle to all 180ccs.. thanks to race camssss.. wo ho!!
