Thanks a lot for the reply but it all started with me giving the bike to svc for tappet adjustment & they fiddling with the handle trying to straighten it.

Without informing me the handle/fork was straightened/conditoned & he was like sir look we have sorted out your handle/wheel alignment problem.
I was charged 300 for it.
It had become straight no doubt , but when large potholes were encountered the khat sound came .
He told me the noise was of fender touching something & that it was a small problem.
And after the falls I haven't touched the forks/coneset except for maybe 1-2 mechanics trying to tighten or loosen the steering cone to make the khat sound go away.
    Thanks again
P.S: dont know whether oil seal leaking. Just can see a watery ring near the lower part of forks but it's light in colour & last when I'd changed fork oil (dec '13 14k kms now at 20k) the mechanic had told me that thats just the water & dirt stuck just above the oil seal that keeps coming up when the tube goes up & down.

I think you may be taken for a ride, if the seal is intact, irrespective of water or dust, there won't be any leakage or scuff marks. If you don't believe me you could just go around checking all the motorcycles that are parked in a parking lot and you will immediately understand what I am telling you. And, yes, it could also be the cone set which can make the khat sound.

My bike has done close to 23k KM in 3.5 years. I haven't yet o/hauled the fork oil.

In other news, some idiot tried to steal fuel from my bike, this is like the 2nd time this happened to me. I had replaced my tap before with a one that had lock but that was leaking fuel since they are all local and don't exactly seal fit to the tank. I had to put back my old tap. Wondering, if its really worth the pain of carrying another key for this.

Hmm so are scuff marks permanent ? Like they can't be wiped off right ?
There are only marks which have similar pattern like those (beside the arrowhead on the right half of your image) on my bike. But they are transparent in colour(not brown/blackish) & can be wiped off easily.

As to your predicament of fuel lock I can relate to it as the same exact things (including rethread ) have happened with my bike & I still am searching for a good fuelcock lock .

Scuff marks can't be wiped. Normally when you ride in dust area, as you ride, dust ring will settle at a point until where your fork actually moves, that's normal. Not to worry.

Get your air filter and spark plug checked. Yamaha's air filter life is max 10000 if you are living in a dusty environment.

My bike is 22000 kms old now and most probably it will require a new chain set after some time and this time I am looking to overgear it for slightly better top speed and more relaxed cruising. It will improve mileage also by little margin because bike will be able to attain higher speed at lower rpms. I am looking for some inputs from you guys. Please advice me if somebody have some knowledge or experience related to the same. Its default setup is 14T front and 42T rear. Unicorn's front 15T will be a direct fit or I should go with fz's rear rear 40T...??

                  Hi Naveen,

Even I wanted to do this mod on my SZ-R, like you said 14-42 is a stock setup which is equivalent to the R15 version 1 (Correct me if I am wrong).

What I wanted to do is to fit the Unicorn 15 teeth front sprocket to my bike keeping 42 teeth rearone the same. Which would bump the top end little bit and even the mileage. Never got to try it. I think 15 front and 40 rear would be equivalent to 14-42 setup.

This is the thread to refer if talking about the sprockets.

                  Any thoughts Samarth 619?

PS: I am riding my bike now, and wont be riding my SZ-R for next 2 years my brother in law would be riding it. So you would find no activity from me in this thread. Sorry about it mates.

R15 runs on 14-44 set-up whereas fz runs on 14-40, we have two choices either we can choose 40T rear sprocket from fz or we can fit unicorn's front 15T sprocket.

PS: so you are moving towards 4 wheels or some other reason...??

I own SZ-X ...run around 8.5Kms...Had got my last servicing done with engine oil changed at around 7.5Kms. Got some queries..
                            - I think I am getting a mileage of around 30-35 which is a bit on downside....so how can I improve it. ?
                            - Also I am still using Yamalube....but now want to move to a full synthetic oil...which one is advisable?

                              To improve mileage :
                              1. Clean air filter.
                              2. Clean carb.
                              3. Check tappet settings
                              4. Riding style mainly throttle control & braking also influences mileage.
And also of course how the bike was handled during break-in period.
                              5. Lastly check fuel/pilot screw setting with the help of spark plug.
