Almost all the ASC in Chennai are now with too much work load due to the vehicles affected by flood. Yamaha ASC told me to come after 2 months.
    (1) generally mechanics at ASC work outside on holidays so you can try to contact them
(2)you can keep applying the paste for 2 months
    (3) contact xbhpians in your city and together you can finish the work.

    • Yamaha SZ-R Clucth Adjustment

Dear friends, I need help to adjust the clutch of my Yamaha SZ-R. Problem is I need to release the clutch fully to move the bike. If I apply a little pressure on the clutch while running, clutch slips like false neutral. It was not like this before the last service from local mechanic. Is it adjustable by myself or I need to visit the SC. Pls advice.

Check your owner's manual. It would difinitely have instructions for adjusting clutch freeplay.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have seen some notes regarding clutch free play in user manual. But I doubt this issue is related with clutch free play or something else. Because clutch free play can be adjusted by the lock nut on the clutch cable near the clutch lever. But I think my issue will be rectified by adjusting the cable end near engine side. I don't want to spoil my bike. So I am seeking the advice from seniors.

If you are afraid of doing it yourself then take your bike to any mechanic or svc. They will do it easily.

Even that is given in manual.

Plus you said oil is leaking so keep an eye on oil level & since its seal is broken/torn from near there it may be related to false neutral issue .

Yes, I will be very much careful about this. And one more thing Yamaha SZ-R is coming with Mikuni carburetor right. Do you know where is the fuel screw in this?. Because on the internet I have seen some photos with idel screw and fuel screw on the same side (right side of the bike). But in my bike, idel screw is on the right side. And a brass type screw is on the left side near the engine. is it the one I am searching for.

I got the diagram of the faulty part for oil leak. Pls check the image attached here. It seems, the left side of the engine should be opened to replace this small bush. Is it so risky?.

Yes the one on the left is 'fuel' screw.

Dont know much about it but looking at the length of no.22 here, it looks like L.h.s of crankcase may have to be opened.

One development, Visited a mechanic yesterday while going to my room from work place. Re-tuned the carburetor for more power. Now I feel comfortable with the clutch also. And regarding the oil leak issue, I need to go there on Sunday. He is saying including the oil change cost will be approximately RS 500.

                        • Tool kit for Yamaha Sz-R

                          Dear xbhpians,

                          I don't have a tool kit for my Yamaha SZ-R. So I am planning to buy one. Need your advice on the below;

                          1. Where it will be available in Chennai/ online?

                          2. If I want to buy each items separately what are the tools required and the specifications for each?

My requirements are, changing engine oil, removing wheels, air filter & oil filter cleaning/replacing and a plug spanner.

Dear Admin, pls move it if i have misplaced my query.

Buy tool-kit for your bike from Yamaha authorised dealer/parts-counter where you got your bike itself . Yamaha kits are good . Later you can a buy few ring-spanners etc from any toolshop to supplement the sizes where you need more torque/mechanical-advantage than the open-spanners of the kit provides . Like the wheel nuts for eg .

I think, i need to change the battery after ~4 years of use. It was minda battery came with the bike. Recently charging went down, so i took it to local garage for recharging, he told me that battery is not getting charged, that means, its life is over.

Anyway. Can somebody guide me about buying a new battery for my sz-r? Models, price, place to buy and to get it fitted. i will appreciate it. Thanks
