The mileage of this bike was never an encouraging point, it is always on lower side comparing to other 150 CC bikes, 'some people' here misunderstand it with 125 CC bike, and dont follow the proper run-in period and blame the bike, which in all honestly is wrong.

Front is okay(29-30). But about the rear tire I am bit concerned because I ride with/without a pillion and (33-35) seemed a bit sluggish when I give a rip at the accelerator. I spoke to a local mechanic and he suggested me to keep 40 @ rear. Seems better now. I do use the specified tire dimensions only though I have changed from the stock TVS to Ceat.

    Please help me out.

Problem with this bike is.... it asks to be ripped, person needs to control his urge to blip the throttle. Low/Mid range is just fabulous for this machine.

While the hunk has better initials than extreme but extreme will rev higher and thus has more top speed. The analogue speedo hunk/extreme has some error at top speed which showed higher reading. On my friends extreme i had touched 128 on speedo while crouched but that was speedo error. The new extreme/hunk comes with same wheel size and sensors as ZMR. The digital model speedo is bang on accurate to the V-box and also GPS. Overdrive has tested the digital speedo of ZMR and extreme with V-box and they show the exact reading as v-box.On my extreme which is digital one i regularly touched 115 kph when rolling from fifth gear from 45 kph. Measured it on Gps and was bang accurate. But when i ripped the bike in 4th to 100 kph and shifted to 5th with fully flat on tank i crossed 9k rpm for first time and bike was at 120 kph.So the true top speed of the extreme is somewhere 115 kph or more if pulled from 4th gear.Extreme has more top speed than unicorn because of simple reason that it revs more than unicorn. Apache 160 can hit 122 kph or more on speedo but its speedo has error and its true top speed is 118 kph.Trigger has less top speed and hits 108 kph true speed. Instead Dazzler had more top speed than trigger as its true top speed was 118 kph. Trigger mainly was made to address the low end and mid range performance for most of the riders are city riders.Extreme has more power than most 150 cc bikes at 14.4 ps. So it must be having some advantage. The advantage is that while other 150 cc on this side hit the triple digit speed fast then speed gain becomes slow, extreme on the other hand pulls very rapidly after 100 kph and hits it top speed. Most of the time you will think that you have another gear left. After 6k rpm it just revs very quick. These are the experience that i have gathered after 23k of riding my extreme. The old model hunk can cross 120 kph if pulled from 4th gear with being flat on tank. But the new model will go till 112 kph because its speedo is damn accurate and 112 kph is true top speed of hunk while extreme has a top speed of 115-116 true speed.
Let me share my opinion on this, please pardon me if it offends you or any other reader but.... truth is Indian roads are not meant for three digit speed runs. Never on two wheeler atleast. Our Indian roads are full of potholes, stones/bricks,nails ( which are distributed free of cost by those road side puncture walas ), freely moving TATA ACE carrying 20 passengers, trucks/buses stranded in middle of expressways for hours and what not. Take for example, a sudden puncture at 100+ KMPH speeds ... I am sure we will never like to be in that situation.

I may sound like old school, but it is better to drive more sensibly with speeds not more than 70-80 KMPH. It is just a waste to put our/others life in danger for sake of some adrenaline.

No offence taken, instead glad that you actually are worried of others safety.

I am also not a rider who maintains digit speeds on highways. My cruising speed is in between 75-85 kph always. Once in a while i cross 100 kph to make the engine rev high and be free to run.

Moreover i cross triple digit figure on an elevated expressway neat Chilika lake here. The expressway is fully enclosed on both side with 3 lanes on each side with an elevation of 30 feet from ground. Also the surface is made of concrete and is also fully flat which helps in viewing much ahead.

And regarding sudden punctures at 100+ speeds then my bike is tubeless tyre as a result no sudden chances of air leakage. So i occasionaly cross 100 kph that too for at the most 10 minutes that too on that elevated expressway.

        And thanks for the concern.

Got worst possible mileage till now. 38 kmpl. Service is due, air filter needs replacement, changed it only once in 2 and half years of ownership. Also cerb tuning is needed it seems. Disappointed with these mileage figures, hope they dont continue.

Sorry for a late reply as my id just got approved today. I had gone through your post bro. First of all about your Cracking sound problem from self motor. That sound is due to faulty part named STARTER OUTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. Bro, this part is covered under warranty and you can get this part free of cost.
This part clutches the rotating part of engine with the self motor and when we press the self button the engine also start up due to moving self motor. But its allignment gets distorted after a time.
Keep in mind that this part is repairable also after adjusting and changing some springs in it. So your dealer for new STARTER OUTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
Its claimable under warranty so Hakk se maango
n yaah.. please try to avoid self start your SZR if possible till this part gets changed. Its a 100 % correct solution for your problem.
And yeah at 14k, need of changing break leather, couplings and chain sprocket is not a big deal. So dont worry bro.
I myself own a yamaha SZR. So if there is any other query then you can post in this thread

I need help. From past few days Chirrrrrrr....chirrrrrrr kind of sound is coming from my bike at around 53-5400rpm. Actually there is a rough edge at 53-5400rpm or you can say small amount of vibration kind of thing and now this sound is coming at the same point. I tried my best to detect that sound but wasnt able to do the same as it comes while riding only. some times i feel its because of some loose nut/bolt or something but sometimes i feel its coming from engine....
Is there anybody who have faced similar issue or can help me in this matter...???

Apart from this little thing I am completely satisfied with my bike's performance. It still feel the same as it was on day 1....

Bro. Its the same issue with my bike also. I felt it from thr 39th day from the purchase of my bike at 1200 kms. Its comes from the loosend tapets, crank shaft and cam sheft as these parts of szr gets disalligned after some time (in 20 percent case).
Well i have researched a lot and i have reached to the conclusion on this problem. So i will help you. But i need to know your warranty period. Its of 2 years or extended 5 years.

                        Ok bro.
There are some things which can be done.
1st) Telling this problem to yamaha service person.
This will lead to following things.
First thing.. He will not be able to understand your problem and will say that engine sounds smooth and so so..
Second thing.. you will then try to make him feel that noise as i know that one has concentrate a lot on that chirr kirr sound at 54000- 7200 rpm.
Probably he will say you that tapets are loosend and can be tightened.
Believe me this is not gonna work at all and i will suggest you not to get your engine opened as these guys are not so skilled.

2nd) Telling this problem to yamaha Engineer who comes weekly at every yamaha service centre.
He will also try to convince you that engine is ok and he will check your engine for any performance degrade like Milage, Pickup and all.
If its ok then he wont take any action over that sound issue.

3rd) To take a legal action under consumer court by challanging yamaha and the dealer if you are not satisfied. This works bro and yamaha will agree to replace your Cam shaft and Crank Shaft. Just after you will send them legal notice only.

So these were all 3 cases bro.

                        Now my personal opinion.
Bro, this problem of chirr kirr sound post 5000 rpm in yamaha SZR is in every 6th motorcycle and its only yamaha's shortcoming and leads to so much of unsatisfaction when you spend so much of money and rely on yamaha like company just known for its quality.

Bro though this sound does not affect the performance and mileage is also fine if uts 41 kmpl in city ride conditions. Pulsar has more mileage then szr. So dont worry.
And dont go for any part replacement like crank shaft and cam shaft so early though replaced for free.
Becoz your bikes engine parts upon running synchronises with each other so putting new crank or cam shaft to just avoid noise can lead to any performance degrade.
                        So we have an idea
Please just ride your bike for another 12 months and after that file a case in consumer court for sound problem. At that time mention in your petition to ask for the replacement of whole engine parts kit. You will get all the parts together and there will be no performance degrade and also you will get a feel of a brand new engine but till 12 months please dont alter your engine in any way.
Pheww.. sorry for such a long post. I thought of helping you fully. If you still have any doubt then personal msg me and also you can talk to me on phone.

Bro, engine is the same and you are right as only the instrumentation is changed including tachometer and speedometer label's design.
Other changes are done at the graphic level. Have a close look at yamaha's official website

Yes.. the problem is not so serious if there is no such performance issue.
Rest is all about the satisfaction.
And i can understand that this sound only comes in real riding conditions as you mentioned in your earlier post.
But it will also come in ideal condition. Just stabalize your engine's rpm to 5400 in idle condition and focus on sound.

And yeah if its about your question that why the sound is only coming at 5400 rpm. Its answer is that A phenomenon named resonance is reached between engine's outer case and all other moving parts. This resonance at certain rpm and is caused due to very small disallignment of any part which does not affects the performance at very big level. so yours takes place at 5400 rpm and mine at 5400-7200 rpm.
But it will further lead to some complications to engine after a year or something that is why i suggested you that replacement after an year.
