  • Re: Yamaha SZ-X / SZ-R

    Hi,

I own yamaha sz-r from 2011 April. At present kilometers in odo is around 12600. The bike serves me well. Like to share some points about this bike -

    1) The build quality is good, feels solid. No rattles till now.
    2) Suspension at rear is bad when riding single.
    3) Paint quality in handle bar, near gear change lever, foot peg are worst.
    4) Did 8 services and spent around 6k for normal services. One small accident costed 6k for service.
    5) Fun to drive all because of low end torque. Good for traffic.
    6) Head light is weak. You can't drive above 40kmph at night.

All that said, it gives mileage of around 40. Before the first service it gave me exactly 50kmpl when rode it not more than 40kmph. Even now i feel my bike will return 50kmpl if i ride sedately.

    • Yamaha sz-s new model. Install scoop

Hi all. Yamaha launched new sz variants. Sz-s is one of the new model which comes with front disk break but it has no scoop on its tank. My question is, is it possible to install sz-x scoop(old model with scoop) on new sz-s?

      Please share your thoughts"

Old models of SZ are still available with some yamaha dealers...if you are really fond of them.

IMHO best way to confirm it is...to land in yamaha showroom and tell them that you are interested in buying SZ-S but with side scoops fitted with it. Lets see what they say ?

              Things that may go wrong:

              1. To fit side scoops, tank needs to have hole in it.
              2. Tank stickers are different for older and newer models, how well side scoops would suit with newer tank needs to be considered.

I think SZ-S = SZ-R+kicker. I dont know whether it has a front disc brake. For your requirement get a SZ-R and add kicker to it. As moon light said better go to the showroom and ask your self. There should be an option.

Even outgoing model of SZR has kicker too.

The new sz-rr is 72k onroad. Is it worth that ?
                      I mean unicorn is 78K.

unicorn has only one advantage ie its top end as compare to szr.By the way I purchased szr on 20/07/2013 keeping the following points in mind
(1)how many times and for how long do we cross 100kmph limit(keeping the our road condition in mind)?
(2)do I have money to buy two bikes one for city riding and another for high way riding
(3)I do not like plane road riding so I need bike that can cruise on hills easily
so get your bike keeping your requirement in mind.

Hello all fellow szr owners,I just filled the form at yamaha india site under the tab contact us.I asked them to provide the facility to add pass-by-switch and engine kil switch without voiding the warranty as an optional upgrade.I would like to ask all the szr owners(who feel the need of both the switches) to mail or make phone call to yamaha india, cause with greater number the chances of being heard are more.If any one has some more suggestions ,please let us know so that together we can demand that too.
By the way this machine is superior to most of the so called superior 150 cc bikes.

please read my post and we together try to make yamaha provide them as optional upgrades.YSC guy will not do this unless they are told to do so by the top management. So we are left with two option either yamaha agrees to put them or we get them installed out side the SC.The second option can be availed any time.I do not think there is any harm trying first option.
