Re: Yamaha SZ-X / SZ-R
Might be dude.. not sure.. well it does not warn us about improperly tuned fuel air ratio.. might be it warns about the low engine oil levelOriginally posted by ashwanth.r View PostYes, I knew the engine is the same detuned gem from FZ series. I disliked only the present meters. Is the "check engine light" actually useful - what does it warn about?
.. will try to explore.. but yaah m sure it does not warn about something like chirr kirr sound problem

The warning light gets on when there is something wrong with electrical system of the bike but not any mechanical.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostYes, I knew the engine is the same detuned gem from FZ series. I ride fz and the user manual says so.

Originally posted by aman467 View PostSorry for a late reply as my id just got approved today. I had gone through your post bro. First of all about your Cracking sound problem from self motor. That sound is due to faulty part named STARTER OUTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. Bro, this part is covered under warranty and you can get this part free of cost.
This part clutches the rotating part of engine with the self motor and when we press the self button the engine also start up due to moving self motor. But its allignment gets distorted after a time.
Keep in mind that this part is repairable also after adjusting and changing some springs in it. So your dealer for new STARTER OUTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
Its claimable under warranty so Hakk se maango

n yaah.. please try to avoid self start your SZR if possible till this part gets changed. Its a 100 % correct solution for your problem.
And yeah at 14k, need of changing break leather, couplings and chain sprocket is not a big deal. So dont worry bro.
I myself own a yamaha SZR. So if there is any other query then you can post in this thread

Sorry bro then its out of warranty.
You have to spend 480 rupees or just get it repaired. Just request them a bit to repair it. It just needs a new spring.
And have you asked yamaha service person about your problem??

Re: Yamaha SZ-X / SZ-R
The Idle RPM range for SZR is from 1200-1500 RPM n if you reduce the RPM afcoz there will be an increase in mileage but as little as 0.5 kmpl.Originally posted by ep452 View Poston my szr, idle rpm seems to be set at around 1600 (when engine is warm). is this the recommended setting?. I am getting on average 40kmpl. If I reduce the idle rpm , will there be any change in mileage?
Mileage can be increased by an Optimizing Air Fuel Mixture Ratio and you can get it done at any Yamaha service centre

Re: Yamaha engine smoothness gone after first service.
Hi Guys,
Its good to see everyone back at this forum again....
One thing I have also faced is that when I throttle up just near 5K RPM in 3rd, I hear this 'CHIRR" sound as u guys mentioned. However in 4th and 5th its a different RPM where I can hear this, is this something related to what discussion is going on on its just something which I am because I am pushing the throttle far... ???
One more question I generally shift around 5 K RPM in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. Though I tend to immediately shift from 1st to 2nd. Is this way how its done or I am doing something wrong?
13K kms done... No problems till now.. Mileage 40-41 in city though in highways I have not tested much maybe something around 43-44...
