I also recall the service center mechanic urging me to take the FZ b'cos it has better electrical (What does that mean ?).
    PS:Well if you put full tank petrol, the vibrations reduces a bit

    When moving, downshifting is ok(Well I really never needed to downshift to 1st while moving).But I have serious problem downshifting to 1st gear at stops.Downshifting till neutral is fine.I have to rock the bike front and back to put to 1st.Is this normal ? I have completed 1K.
    For decrease in pick up:.(1)check you chain as service centre guys have habit of keeping it super over tight.(2)check clutch free play.
    for gear shifting : check clutch free play.
    for vibration: NO one can find the root cause better than you.

    • Yamaha engine smoothness gone after first service.

      Did the 1st service at 500 kms. May be the service center guys tuned it for mileage or performance (though I never asked for it), but ever since the bike is feeling less smooth. I don't know if its the engine or chain. Later I tightened the chain in the service center. Still it isn't what it used to be.Today I unknowingly drove some distance with the choke slightly down. I know it damages the engine. But the ENGINE felt was very very smooth. I was driving under 50 kmph, So I'm not talking about outright performance. But just the smoothness. I repeat, the choke was just slightly down. Does that mean the fuel-air ratio is not correct in the default state(when choke is off). I'm afraid to go to the service center, they will either tune it for performance or mileage.I wan't both, just as it was. Please help.

        Are you sure about smoothness because in case of rich mixture RPM gets decreased resulting in less vibrations and the feeling of smoothness. If AFR is not correct then learn to tune the bike yourself for that you can search the Google or xbhp.

          My bike needs chain sprocket & rear breaks replacement. My odo meter reading is 14k. Is this normal? Also when i start the bike a cracking sound is coming from self motor. I fear that some gear is broken in self motor. I expect a 2k service cost for these complaints.

            chain sprocket & rear breaks replacement depend on many factors like riding style,maintenance etc. since your odometer reading is 14k, may i assume it is still under warranty if yes then give your bike for servicing and do not tell them about the cracking sound .After servicing test ride your bike and tell them " what have you done to my bike ,It is producing cracking sound".
            until and unless you make them feel that it is due to their fault,they will not provide you the warranty.Do not listen to their valid argument that they have not touched the motor.Talk to workshop supervisor,showroom owner,Yamaha india.
            Believe me this technique works in India.

              Will try it friend. My service due is December as i have changed the engine oil my self last month. Noise have increased much and i dont feel the bike is riding smooth. It all due to the chain.

                2 Months and No Modification . Does not suits my IMAGE. So I brought you application of 1 Watt LED Lamp. It is very simple. Open your Bike Headlight and make a hole. I made mine with my Soldering Iron. Attach the 1 Watt led with 470 Ohms Resistance on the Positive side and Fix it with M-seal or some sealant. Let it Dry. Open the Green wire from the Head light Plug. It is now our +ve Terminal. Black is Common -Ve.

                  Nice work on the bike head lights even I was thinking what can I do with that. How do you use the switches on turn the LED s on??

                  By the way I am facing some misfiring issues in my bike. It was on standstill. I cold started it using choke. Then when I was revving it to max, and then revving it again I was getting delay in rev. Is it due to the air filter?? I am 11K on odo now and had changed the filter around 6K.

                      Could you guys try this experiment ?Put the bike in center stand. Start the bike. Make sure the back wheel doesn't touch the ground. Go from Neutral to 5th gear. Now in 5th gear let it idle for sometime. Observe if there are any vibrations. For me the whole bike shivers once in a while (3 or 4 times a minute). Do you observe anything similar ?I think my first service screwed it up completely.

                        please explain what do you mean by "let it idle at 5th gear".If you are in 5th gear and throttle is closed any bike will give jerk.

Cant help. Bunch of jack-arses. Disc are sharper than ever, master cylinder spring was changed in Apr 2013. Also last time I changed the oil seal of right fork and fork oil replaced. Suspension works perfect. Bike works perfect. Pickup same or even better.

                          BTW I had done numerous longish rides on SZ-R, which includes mountainous roads Lavasa, Amby, Khandala Ghat no problem at all. Maximum I rode in a day was about more than 350 kms. Mileage hovering between 43 to 47 kmpl.

                          On the other note, met a guy on highway riding SZ-R first gen just like me. He did about 45K kms on his bike. Asked him what have he done to maintain it. His answer was, he just did regular servicing and didnt change much of parts except the ones which wear and tear. No trouble with engine, no trouble with mileage. He changed the tyres to Ceat at rear and MRF at front, as his TVS tyres were worn out. Mileage he reported surprisingly more than 45 kmpl. So this is much capable machine but underestimated due to its less power. How much less? 1.2 BHP less than Unicorn. Is that the real deal breaker?

                          BTW what is the top end of Honda Unicorn, HH Hunk, CBZ, Achiever, Impulse, Pulser 150, Trigger. Didnt include GS150R as it is in as it is pretty different than most of 150 CC bike and I have huge respect for GS150R.
                          Top Speed (on speedo):
                          honda unicorn= 110-115kmph
                          hh hunk and hh cbz (digital speedos)= 110kmph max
                          my friends old hunk use to hit 115
                          hh impulse= no idea
                          p150= 110-112kmph
                          apache 160= 120kmph
                          trigger= you can expect 115

I asked him what maintenance and what expenses incurred while maintaining the bike. I am nobody to comment, on engine reliability of Yamaha. But so far what I have heard and what I have seen, people are running bike with regular service just fine.

                            A Small correction.. the HH Hunk can do 120kmph on the speedo.. i have a hunk.. the very first model that was launched in 2007.. it is still stock till now and it is just butter smooth..

                            Not sure about the extreme, but i heard its got a bigger carb compared to the other 150cc bikes..

                            Are you serious you are getting only 42-43?? Thats pretty low.. have you checked the AFR ? how is the performance??
