35-36 is what i usually get in city traffic with lots of acceleration and shifting. HIghways should return atleast 40-42. Do check your tire pressures and fuel quality. Avoid sudden surges in speed, accelerate at a steady pace, you will definitely get better FE. Another point to remember - an overheated engine will always return a pathetic FE, so make sure your engine does not get overheated at any point of time.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

It was neither a case of sudden acceleration nor over heating as it was a 100km ride only and that to with a 15 mins break in between. Its giving me 42-43 constantly inside city with maximum speed of 65-70 kmph. I was expecting similar figure on highways between speed of 75-85 kmph...

After the first service, all services are to be done within 3000km or 70 days from previous service. Whichever comes early.

            @Naveen1985:

Don't worry, the brakes will return to normal. Even mine felt spongy after it was replaced for first time after 10K km in last free service(6th service).

My bike is due for its 10th service next month. I will most probably be writing a detailed review of how my bike performed over these days.

You were right dude. problem was with fuel not 80+ speed on highway because I am getting 42-43kmpl again after switching back to hp petrol pump near my home. It means that Indian oil is cheating its customers

Try to stick to COCO outlets only. Else, switch to Shell..you wont regret

Update from my side, after i used my bike for more than 8 months already crossed 6000km mark and 5 services done.....

                    1) I felt bike under powered from 65 speedometer range...

                    2) Even Second gear sometime not able to pull from sudden stop and Go.

                    3) Mileage yes mileage never go up from 41kmpl.. no matter how i drive this..... (within Delhi traffic)

                    4) Also what will be the cost of that wiser (transparent one) .. i think i just messed up the painting work (picture attached).. any suggestion to correct the same...

Anyway query no. 2 which is very much confusing....so please suggest
"earlier my office was 45 KM (total including up&down). But Since last 2 month they have now shifted to someother place which is 35 to 40 km away from my home i.e. 40+40 = 80km in a day.

When I purchased this bike I thought somehow the bike will delivered the mileage around 45km due to its low bhp, but since beginning the mileage never go above then 40km infact it hover around 41km.

Apart from this distance and the mileage are concerned, I also feel it is very difficult to carry day to day consumable items from market to home ( heavy in weight) on bike."

Now discussion part as my bike is just 8 month old and completed only 6000km , I want to do valuation in second hand market as see how much I will get the price... (what you ppls thinks on this... Rs55,000 is what my mind set is on)

Though I got car too, but that's not my personal choice, even i dont like to use car for small distance near by my home.

AS I AM MEDIUM BUILT WITH GOOD HEIGHT ABOVE 6.1", what scooter you ppls will suggest me.. i like AVIATOR (white in color) and if my bike sell on the price which i was asking then i dont need to spend any huge amount on this scooter. Also I heared now the mileage of this honda scooter is increased. They claimed for 60, if i will get 50 then never mind. As it will serve all my purpose.......

I will be using this scooter (if I will purchased it ) , as my wife also want to learn the same.

Also one more plan in my mind is that after purchase of this scooter I will go for something big bike like 250+ but that was in 2014.

So presently i got personally one car , one scooter (old one herohonda pleasure - hope you ppls dont think on this as the height of this little ponny is very low) and my bike (SZ-R).... these things personally owned by me excluded my father's vehicle.

Sometime it is very difficult to mange the maintenance for these above three vehicle for me....

So, Friends please suggest .. what I WILL DO?

                        Hi all,

I booked a black Yamaha SZ-R last week. I got the delivery preponed from Sunday to Friday. I was so excited that I wanted to have it before the weekend. Anyway, mine would not be a daily commuter use, but usually on weekends.
Shall post pictures once I get my hands on it.. Waiting impatiently..

As far as mileage part is concerned I used to get consistently 41-47 kmpl on SZ-R till I showed the bike to the trusted mechanic in Mumbai when I rode to Mumbai. The mechanic is a Yamaha Mechanic. He adjusted the AFR screw to 2 and quarter turns. Factory fitted and Yamaha recommended setting is 2 and half turn. Now mileage is consistently between 45-50 kmpl. Also revved the bike to the redline for few seconds and it did not give any sort of problem like starving for fuel. Previously in Pune my bike was tuned by one the Yamaha service center and that time i got around 50 kmpl +, the bike was running very lean mixture. And above 8K RPM I was getting jerks as if the bike is about hit reserve even after having sufficient fuel and then he changed it back to factory default, as I did not like the jerking at high RPM, I just love to rev this machine. :P

I would suggest you to make the setting of the AFR to 2 and quarter turns and see if it improves the mileage. Yes the pick will be reduced, it will be small difference but yes you will feel that difference. If it doesnt work then you can anytime move to the factory settings. I would suggest you to give it a try. But Make sure you get it done from Yamaha Mechanic or a trusted mechanic.

BTW my bike is running on Yamalube 15W50 SS oil.

As far as your query about what bike / scooter, I wont be able to suggest you anything concrete, but I would suggest to start a thread in the 'What Bike' sections, you will get some answer out of it.

I am also getting 42-43 consistently and I am satisfied with it because i know my daily route to office is full of traffic and signals. On highways also i get almost similar figures at 80-85 kmph. According me you have made a wrong decision if your main requirement was mileage. You should have gone for stunner or ss125 or any other 125cc bike or honda unicorn. Now if you are considering to buy honda aviator for you, it is a good scooter but trust me it will not give you more than 45-46 in delhi traffic but you'll be able to carry house hold stuff with ease. One more thing, it will run out of steam after 70-75kmph where as sz-r touches 90 kmph with ease. Decision is yours.

Stunner is a good bike but it will not give you that excellent low end torque like SZ-R which translates into good acceleration even in top gear. Now you must be habitual of this advantage as you have covered 6000 kms on SZ-R and that is why you'll miss this thing in stunner sometimes but it will give you consistent mileage 54-55 in city, however it will vibrate after 65-70kmph and its fairing will start rattling after 1.5-2 years (depends on care) as its made of plastic. If you want a good 125cc bike then my vote goes to yamaha ss125 which is better than stunner in top speed, refinement, performance, stability and quality. You can also test ride hero glamour if you want mileage only with riding comfort as it can give you 60+ all the time. I am not suggesting you bajaj discover st because I dont like its looks and it is coming with very poor rubber, lack of refinement and stability at higher revs, very up right seating position, lacks tachometer. Quality wise i rate ss125 above SZ-R, stunner and all other 125cc and some 150cc bikes.
