  • Hiii all,

I have got a wierd problem from last few days... Not very wierd as i used to have this in my old Samurai... The problem is when I have to shift the gear down from 5th to 3rd or 4th... When I drop the gear from 5th to 4th it doesn fall into the groove completely and becomes kinda sluggish... And after this I cannot drop the gear to 3rd because it just feels like this is the last gear... Then I have to leave my clutch go a inch forward and then change the gear from 4th to 3rd... It is quite irritating in the traffic... Any suggestions how to stop this....

How many KMs have you completed on the bike? Can happen due to wear and tear.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

I am getting consistent mileage of 42-43 kmpl under mix riding conditions (50% highway and 50% city) which according me is good as my daily route (punjabi bagh to Connaught place) is full of traffic signals and slow moving traffic, also I would like to inform you that I am a traffic cutter kinda of rider and that is why sometimes i use to rip it a bit in 3rd and 4th gear....

Lols.. Same like me ... even i am getting the mileage around 41 - 42 kmpl.. daily office running from vikaspuri - rajouri gardern - lajpat nagar

Thats it? Don't worry bro, your mechanicals are brand-new and have lot of frictional wear-and-tear. They are in the process of setting properly (this is what we call run-in). Be gentle with your bike and allow the mechanicals to set in properly. These issues will get sorted out before 1000kms.

Do you feel a kinda vibration in engine and a sudden sound change between 5800-5900rpm...??? at that particular rpm range i feel like some part of my engine is rubbing other part and creating vibration kinda thing....

Nahi yaar, there is no sound like rubbing, but YES there is a some different type / change of sound during or near by rpm as noticed by you. But not rubbing kinda feeling.

The engine does tend to vibrate after 6500 RPMs..is that what you are referring to?

yaar, i feel this feeling of rubbing parts only between 5800-5900rpm....after that it feel smooth but a bit loud (which is normal). however I dont feel any vibration on handlebar or foot pegs, its more like roughness which is there at that particular point only. this thing is similar to my friends apache rtr 180 which gives same feeling at around 5000rpm.

                          Hi Naveen,

I would suggest to check the vibs after 1st service see if it goes away. And yes the grunt after 6K RPM changes, and I like that. I regularly redline my bike take it all the way 10K, of course only after a ride of 5-6 kms .

Give it a time, let it settle and enjoy the ride.

                          Update from my side:
                          --------------------------
I had rubbing noise on the handle bar, it was giving very low sound when I used to move my bikes handle left-right slowly. Also yesterday saw right fork showed traces of oil. Today went to the service center. Cone set adjusted, right fork seal changed, and fork oil also changed. My front brake master assembly pin was rusted and the brake leave was not smooth, so replaced entire master cylinder kit along with brake oil. This was all done after the ownership of 2 years and 2 months.

After I took the delivery of the bike front brake was completely spongy, not that lever was coming all the way back, but bite was completely lost, rode it for 5-6 kms with extensive use of front, they improved a little bit, disc was pretty hot after that. :P Took it back to service center, they did bleeding of front disc, and they gave explaination that it would take some time to settle which I honestly dont believe. Brakes are still not the way they were before this work, but I will give it some time.

My Ride is back to its normal and BTW checked the approximate mileage which turned out to be 45 kmpl in city.

                          Cheers!

                            • Last weekend it surprised me with its poor highway mileage figures i.e. 35-36 kmpl only between 75-85kmph all the time on a straight road from delhi to panipat and back to delhi. Will it improve after 2nd service or not...?? however my current reading is 1500....waiting for your replies...
