donno y how this bike is so heavy all plastic still i can't put it on main stand on my own.

this is my first n i was so excited about but i'm sad now, this doesn't feel good.
    Wrong dear
It is not plastic... Only the projections are plastic. not the tank. The side covers are not plastic. They are made of polypropelene.. and it is remarkably strong.. and will not crack. even though it appears supple. i donno about tank movements.. i could not notice any.. In the run in period u should not drive at a steady rpm and need to keep on varying the rpm until 1000 kms completed.
Take heart dont worry.. If you have any doubts,, consult the service centre,

    • Cruzer,
      1. The petrol tank is fixed static only and i noticed petrol tank cover is slightly shakable, and the same issue in Pulsar also. I think it is not a serious one. Please contact Service guys if the tank is easily movable.
If petrol tank and tank cover are not fixed in single horizontal axis, this prob exist. This prob will not be in Splendor since both are fixed in same axis.

2.I agree the bike has more fiber parts, but most of the bikes in this segment have fiber to reduce the weight and cost and to increase the mileage. We can see more metal parts in splendor, bullet and we can see more fiber in HH passion also.

3.I dont think 45 kmph speed is a matter instead you can focus more on tachometer and follow the rpm instructions as per manual.

4.If rpm meter is not working properly check with service guys.

For a 153 cc bike, the weight is reasonable only and it will increase the stability and increase riding comfort and more you ride the bike you will find it easy. (Suzuki GS150 is weighing 149kg ).

      • Hai SZians, I hope everyone is enjoying with the ride..... I am here to share some sad story of mine... Yesterday morning when i was getting ready to office my SZ-X was not at all responded to start... Even the neutral light didnt glow up after entering the key.....I was really shocked... When i took the bike to the service centre(by pushing nearly one kilometre) by evening, the SC manager started the bike by putting it into third gear and then tested... Finally they told me that the problem is "wire sorting".....They also asked me to take the bike by next day evening(i.e. Today)..
        1) Now my doubt is what is the cause of this wire sort???
        2) What are the things to be checked when taking the bike this eve???
        3) Is the sorting normal on all the bikes(or only on mine??)
And when he revved it hard, the gear rod was dancing in horizontal position?? Does it show that the second service was not done properly??(I did the second service by 4/4/11)

          1. Yes the tank is loose, so every other bike in this category have loose tank. This doesnt affect high speed cruising on bike, no vibration no uneasyness.

          2. Plastic is used in every other bike in this category, SZ R is having plastic parts at the same places as Honda Unicorn, this should not be a concern on first place. SZ-R front engine cowls are made up of fiber and not plastic. Also the quality used in plastic and fiber SZ R and Unicorn is very similar. (check the panels near the rear sit, press it gently for Unicorn and SZ-R you will see no difference)

          3. The bike ran mere 300 kms, stick to manual, do exactly what it says, engine roughness, over heating are common problem in new bike due to its new factory fitted engine parts, this will vanish after 1st service and sufficient run in. Regarding gears, my bikes gear were hard too, before first service, after service too they were hard, last week completed 1000 kms, and slowly smoothness in engine and gears have improved slowly.

          4. Your bikes RPM indicator ceased after 300 kms, my bikes speedo stopped working on the day of delivery, it was dead you can imagine how much frustrated i would have been, turn some pages behind of this topic you will see how many problems my bike had when I took the delivery, this problem pop up as it is factory fitted and also while shipping it tend become loose, this should be an easy fix for the SVC.

This bike comes with 153 CC Yamaha Engine which is used in FZ and Fazer, along with mac wheeels, and many other metal parts, the bike should be heavy, and buddy not all the parts are of plastic or fiber! Bikes weight is moderate, trust me it is not as heavy as Unicorn or GS150R.

Take it to SVC immediately, consult with them about all the problem, DO NOT shout or engage in any unnecessary argument with them, you have to get your work done from them.

Lastly never regret your decision, you took this decision with some thought, stick to it. Dont worry and be happy, we have got a good bike in our hands. Enjoy the ride. Keep posting.

          Cheers!

Few questions and suggestions to you:

            1. Did you tried fitting any electrical part in the bike, like Pass light or any other fancy lighting to bike? From what I see is your bikes battery drained, due to some wiring issue. SVC will rectify and correct it.

            2. Check the headlight, tail light by applying breaks, try buttong start without applying accelerator of bike, see if it starts, also start the bike, and see if the neutral light is flickering with the normal ignition and glows with the race, if the proportion of the glow is high then it shows that the battery is not fully charged, get it charged from them.

            3. About gear rod I cant comment firmly but it seems loose, ask SVC to check it they will surely rectify it.

Please keep us updated on it.

            Cheers!

yes its is shakable .. its because its fixed on a bush . i got tensed when i knew it .. then i called the service people so they said nothing to worry about that ..

                1. You are absolutely correct brother..... The ppl in SVC told me that they found the battery drained and some wiring issues.... But i didnt even tried fitting anything to ma bike...
                2. I checked for the things... Everything was good as u said....
                3. When i asked about gear rod to the SCV ppl, they said all the gear rods in Sz and SZ-X are fitted like this only... They also have shown a rod of other SZ which was on the showroom, I did realize that the rod of that bike was also dancing in horizontal position...(Loose fitted)... So i donnno what to do.....

Anyways, i have an idea of fitting the gear rod of SS125 into SZ-X... What do u think about this idea??? I am also about to upgrade the horn.... Is anyone have upgraded the horn for SZ-X??? Which horn to buy?? Plz give me some idea for these mods.....

@lsp2310 Thanks for the reply brother.....

                  Your welcome bro!

Even I am thinking to upgrade the horn, but I am not going to touch my bike for any upgrades, I am happy the way it is.

About fitting SS125 gear on SZ-X, you need to check with SVC also make sure that it should not void warranty, I honestly did not see the SS125's gear rod. So cant comment much on it.

About horn may be some senior members from xbhp will suggest you on it.

                  Cheers!

                  • new queries

hey, thanks a lot for clearing my doubts and cheering me up, it feels really nice to be a part of community where people listen n respond, feel like a brotherhood, i shouldn't have posted in that mood, might give prospective SXR customers the wrong idea, i was really worried, now ok,
guess what since then i've fallen 2 times with the bike, both of them while cornering in dead low speeds, i guess that disc shouldn't be messed with!

i got a scratch on the exhaust n a minor on the tank, while i was riding today this ugly breaker touched the bike. i didn't look couldn't bear another damage to the bike, the more careful i try to be to more mess up i get.
but i made my peace with these things since i'm a new rider these things are learning experience i guess.(need to work on my cornering skill though)

hey guys the strain at 45kmph i talked about is in the 5th gear also the rpm at that speed is 4k n i make it a point not to exceed 4500 rotations but when ur on the highways how can u vary speeds, i mean i live in delhi n riding on NH-8 at 45kmph scares me sometimes.

anyways what i wanted to ask was, like when u shift from 2nd to 3rd the bikes gets smooth even in low rpms but 2nd is rough n if the acceleration is even slightly relaxed the gear breaks pulls the bike back. similarly at 5th gear i expect it to be smooth like 3rd but its not! any ideas.

hey also any idea how those scratches can be fixed on tank n scoops, (also the exhault scratch since its not paint!?!)

guys one more thing i want to upload the pics but the bike is kindof dirty, i just wash it with damp cloth, but when i wipe the surface dry the orange cloths sheds its fibres i guess which sticks everywhere n when it finally dries off the water marks are all over the tanks making it more ugly, plz advice

                    • how to wash n tire pressure

hey guys, regarding the cleaning can u suggest some wax/polish anything to make it shine, can i use colin for now, since the manual says mild detergent.

regarding tires, i notice today that although the tire are at the recommended pressures F29 R33, while riding the bike both the tires r a bit suppressed, giving the idea that the tires are low on air. i check a couple of times doubting puncture/leak but it isn't the case. does riding under inflated or over inflated tires poses risk of skidding etc.

                        fellow SXIANS,

guess what i found today while reading the manual!!

they say that they've testes the bike extensively with tires of different makes, and found these TVS ones most suitable. i doubt that!! since i've fallen a couple of times at speeds of 5.

                        moving on.

they say that the stock tires should be replaced by the same make(specification) n model.

i thought y not get the same specification from MRF etc if possible.

i read the article about tires but got bored too much geek stuff,
                        front 2.75-17 41P 4PR
                        rear 100/90-17 55P

is it possible to get this specification from other brands.
donno what is means only that the 17 stands for 17 inches rim.(need to read that article again)
also whether the tires can be replaced with tubeless ones.

just wanna be sure so that when the time comes, i'm not fooled by someone.(it happens a lot with me these days.)

my gf fooled me into getting the black SXR while i wanted the blue one, but the showrooms all over delhi were deprived of the blue. and the showroom guy wasn't sure how many days it would take, so without spoiling the moment i got my second babe. all black

Hai bro, its really sad that u have fallen twice on ths SZ-R.... But in the game of bikers, its all nothing like some experience.... I hope there is no problem with the tires since in my sz-x also the same tire is used and i didnt even experience that kind of cornering pbms.... I think u have to check with the tire pressure... If its low than the specified, its possible that the bike may skid even during the low speed cruising(I did experience the same with the old fellow crux that i had)... So check the tire pressure in some different station....

Tha tires with the same spec is available in MRF..Just now i have also read the information about tires in the universal thread.... For the front MRF Nylo Zapper FS(FRONT) and MRF Nylo Zapper C for Rear wheel***.... (Please correct me if i am wrong)..... Its available in both (tube and tubeless) versions... But i donno whether changing the tire to different company will affect the mileage or not...pls make sure that it will not affect performance of the machine....

Personal - Getting a color recommended by a g.f is great than picking a color of ur choice... It will make ur g.f most happiest... So sacrifice is gud in love man... Enjoy....

                          • Mileage Update

                            Hello All,

Mileage update from my side. I dont ride my bike much, its in the parking lot which is open for most of the time, where there is high possibility of evaporating petrol by heat.

                            Calculated mileage = 50 Kmpl.

I got consistently 50 or 50+ (less than 55 kmpl) after first service.

Riding style now after 1000 kms: mostly 50 kmph at 4000 RPM, very little patches of high speed riding at 80 kmph at 6000 + RPM. Bike clocked 1216 kms.

At 80 kmph, its stable no vibs. Bike is getting smoother and smoother day by day and ride by ride. Gears shift is getting smoother. I hope it will be in the best shape after 2nd service. And SZ R's acceleration from 30 kmph to 70-80 kmph at 5th gear is awesome!

I recently did Teflon coating on the bike and also got the mac wheels white radium stripe, that looks cool!

                            - Lalit

guess what since then i've fallen 2 times with the bike, both of them while cornering in dead low speeds, i guess that disc shouldn't be messed with!

i got a scratch on the exhaust n a minor on the tank, while i was riding today this ugly breaker touched the bike. i didn't look couldn't bear another damage to the bike, the more careful i try to be to more mess up i get.
but i made my peace with these things since i'm a new rider these things are learning experience i guess.(need to work on my cornering skill though)

hey guys the strain at 45kmph i talked about is in the 5th gear also the rpm at that speed is 4k n i make it a point not to exceed 4500 rotations but when ur on the highways how can u vary speeds, i mean i live in delhi n riding on NH-8 at 45kmph scares me sometimes.

anyways what i wanted to ask was, like when u shift from 2nd to 3rd the bikes gets smooth even in low rpms but 2nd is rough n if the acceleration is even slightly relaxed the gear breaks pulls the bike back. similarly at 5th gear i expect it to be smooth like 3rd but its not! any ideas.

hey also any idea how those scratches can be fixed on tank n scoops, (also the exhault scratch since its not paint!?!)

guys one more thing i want to upload the pics but the bike is kindof dirty, i just wash it with damp cloth, but when i wipe the surface dry the orange cloths sheds its fibres i guess which sticks everywhere n when it finally dries off the water marks are all over the tanks making it more ugly, plz advice
Now to fix the scratches first check out how deep the scratches are, you can try teflon coating and different kind of waxes to minimize it.

regarding tires, i notice today that although the tire are at the recommended pressures F29 R33, while riding the bike both the tires r a bit suppressed, giving the idea that the tires are low on air. i check a couple of times doubting puncture/leak but it isn't the case. does riding under inflated or over inflated tires poses risk of skidding etc.

About riding as a newbie, I would suggest you to understand and know your limitations than your strengths. Be comfortable with the ride, make sure you and your steed both understand each other very well. Take care of her, she will take very good care of you.

Always wear helmet, whether you travel for 5 mins of 50 mins distance. Safety comes first!

                              Happy and safe riding.
