  • Hi guys. I have clocked 1200 kms and always maintaining Tyre pressure in F28 R33 as per manual. Till now I didn't face any skidding probs even though i pend my bike nearly 45 degree. Since it is new tyre I am trusting it but anyway I am planning to change it after one yr since it is TVS tyre.

Last week I did first service and did teflon coating also. Today I touched 100kmph without any engine strain and i didn't feel any vibration also.

        • @cruzer: don't be sad bro, the best alternative to the stock tyres are those from the R15. Recently fitted those tyres to my cousin's sz-r; previously about the handling and grip his reaction used to be like ; now his reaction

@all: don't be disherten'd any new bike will be like this. Its like a newly married girl trying to adapt to her in laws way of living, culture etc...

@those who feel the bike is underpowered: guys this bike is a wolf in sheep's clothing, since its got the same engine (though detuned) from fz, so the possibilities to mod it are endless.

oh!!! almost forgot nice pics Naughty VaIsH

Whoa! You have cousins SZ-R fitted with R15 tyres thats new! I am not going to ask about handling its gotta be top notch on those stock R15's tyres. My questions are, how much do they cost? Is there any mileage difference (Increase / Decrease or same as before) after the tyre change?

And I 110% agree to your statement that this steed is wolf in sheep's clothing! If anyone want to see it then I would suggest them to test ride this steed

tyre cost depends form service center to dealer. we changed the tyres from the service center itself. sorry donno know the price as my cousin owns the showroom ; about the mileage he's getting a constant 55+ as these tyres have less drag than conventional tyres. even with my hard ripping (redlining the engine) all the time, lowest i got is 45

                      • My Grey SZX

Hi to all..... I am from Chennai.

I bought my szx in last october and crossed 5000 kms.

Mileage before first service is 40
Now its 50-55 normal city traffic.
                        Daily run - 32 kms.
Once got the mileage 58 (used to ride early morning without traffic)

                        Problems noticed :
                        1. Engine sound is not smooth bit harsh, compared to its early days

                        2. Sound comes when i release the clutch after a gear change - Now its rectified after 3 service but clutch release changed by service guys to its end for gear change

                        3. Bike jerks to front when i leave the throttle while riding.

                        4. When bike is on the move with throttle in released state some scratching sound comes when i give the throttle again and the sound goes away on continuous throttling. ( its not engine knock)

                        5. Front wheel free play is not free (bit tight) compared to rear which I complained to service guys and they accepted it but not rectified till now.

                        Any advice from you all>>>>>>>>>

Local mechanic told me to use shell engine oil to reduce the engine harsh sound. is that k to do.....

I am one of the happy SZXian as you all and please advice to keep my szx happy

sorry for the late reply guys, but cannot upload the bike's photo with R-15's tyre as of now cuz my cousin stays in chocin. next time i'll visit him will surely get those pics (you know how some gurs are lazy, they won't do anything on their own )

and yes the tyres are a direct fit.

also use normal petrol always (didn't find any difference using the premium one's)

one important thing. i don't know whether you guys follow the manual to change engine oil or not, but i follow my own rules. here they are:

                                1st change @ 187 kms
                                2nd change @ 375 kms
                                3rd change @ 750 kms
                                4th change @ 1500 kms

                                then onwards at every 2000 kms i.e. 5th change @ 3500 kms

**break in using mineral oil only**

use mineral oil till 5,000 kms (minimum)

from personal experience my previous bike RTR, which clocked 75k kms in 2.5 years was in optimum shape till the day i sold it (financial crisis) and in those years never ever did i face any problem with the bike's performance (it was much much better than the others that i encountered)
