dropping your new bike onto the ground is bad. especially bike like this which can be severe on your wallet due to its supple and stylish accessories. i am afraid of getting the indicator broken by nerds who park their vehicles closeby in the parking lot and dont care about others while taking it back from the lot. the trip has reached 400 and the fuel reading has not yet touched the red mark.. i think my careful and patient riding has been fruitful by providing a good mileage. let me cofirm the exact figures by tomoro. (hoping 45kmpl) If it is satisfactory, i would expect 50kmpl after first service for sure.. thats when i would tell people that yamaha is a 'for-indians-too' bike.

It will be 50 Kmpl or even more than that, if you are riding in the greenzone of 30-50 Kmph in 5th gear.Originally posted by sathish77 View Postdropping your new bike onto the ground is bad. especially bike like this which can be severe on your wallet due to its supple and stylish accessories. i am afraid of getting the indicator broken by nerds who park their vehicles closeby in the parking lot and dont care about others while taking it back from the lot. the trip has reached 400 and the fuel reading has not yet touched the red mark.. i think my careful and patient riding has been fruitful by providing a good mileage. let me cofirm the exact figures by tomoro. Thats what I wanted to know from forum members. Can we ride on 5th gear at 45 kmph (it makes me feel like i am doing a terrible mistake by riding on high gear for a low speed). The service centre guy asked me to use 5th only while cruising at high speeds. There is a peculiar sound if i put on the 5th gear.

. does it anywat affect the engine if i like to ride only on 4th gear at 45kmph 4XRPM?

As far as my riding style is concern i up shift at around 3.5 K RPM, there are are occasions when I rode at 30 Kmph on 5th gear, I did not get any knocking sound.Originally posted by sathish77 View PostThats what I wanted to know from forum members. 5th gear, 40 Kmph speed at 3.3K RPM, the ride is butter smooth trust me, if you havent tried it then try it once. At 4 K RPM, the bike easily touches 50 kmph.
I see no harm in riding at high gears at as low speed as 30 kmph, make sure your engine doesnt knocks if it does then downshift.
Seniors any thoughts on it?
Cheers!

coarse sound from engine
hi guys. i believe the other fuel station where i filled petrol previously cheated me . if u recall i pointed out 26kmpl as mileage (it was) becoz i strongly
believe that the quantity of petrol they sold was much lesser than what i have asked and paid them for.
The second refuelling was done at a bunk that is known for its quality and honesty here. so when i hit the reserve, i reached that place and filled in 7.46 lit
of gas and the run on trip metre was 158km- 480 kms. (43kmpl).. it sounds cool to me. i am going to check mileage agin starting today. i wil refuel from
the same bunk and keep this mileage factor updated on forum for prospective owners. (i had a run around when i tried to know abt mileage before
booking my bike)
coming to the problems occurred lately, the bike has become a lot rougher that it was in the last week. the smoothness has vanished suddenly and the
performance is reduced to a great level. i m confused as to wat might have happened. is there a possible oil leak? if yes, how can i confirm it without
going to SVC (15kms away). it is felt mostly in the mornng that bike loses it power though i idle it for 3 mins before actually riding.
BTW someone called me from delhi asking if i had any issues with the bike. (he said he is calling from yamaha). asked me to report any issues to SVC to get it resolved.

follow up
hey guys! the second attempt to calculate mileage = 46.5 kmpl.
yestrday i happened to ride the bike on a wet road and i was shocked to witness the poor quality of TVS tyres.. oh boy.. its not at all trustworthy. it gives me no confidence to take sharp turns and apply a quick brake. it was very much like the dunlop on my previous HH pAss+. it's time that someone came up with an alternative here on xbhp. as the monsoon is fast approaching, i am in need to replace tvs with MRF.

Guess SZX has 17"alloys,IMO MRF is not so god in wet.Karizma Parts Manual - https://picasaweb.google.com/1010125...rizmaCatalogue

That looks nice but I would still be in favor of Saree Guard.Originally posted by dhilip1 View PostHow is it guys !! w/o Saree Guard...
Isnt our SZ series bike have one of the thick rear tyre? I remember in our thread one guy mentioned that he fit R15 tyres to his SZ-R. Anyone tried it?
I mean i can imagine it would become a 'mean machine' with those R15 tyres.
Cheers!
