Feedback on low mileage ...
Hello Friends, I dont know how to start this feedback... but I think I need to share this... before I will finally make up my mind for selling my bike which is just 10 months and completed only 6985 kms.
- As I am really pissed off with the low mileage which was always around 40 kmpl.... since beginning, I raised this problems many time to authorized service center during my 2nd and 3 rd . As usually nothing come fruitfull, and my bike mileage goes down to 32kmpl
- I almost ready to sell of this bike, because of this low mileage.. and also my office distance is now extended to 70 km (35+35 up& down).
- Then I thought of giving a final shot then decided to visit to known local shop, mechanic (Virinder Nagar, New Delh) to whom I know since last 7 years.
- So as fourth service , he open the carburetor, clean up with petrol, as per him the carburetor was never opened by service center ppls.
- Even the spark plug tip was also black and air filter also very dirty . He replaced both.
So on expense part ( WHICH I FEEL IS QUITE EXPENSES = Total service cost me Rs. 895
)
- Service labor - 150rs.
- Oil replaced (Castrol Power) - 325rs
- Air filter - 300rs (this one is quite expensive)
- spark plug - 120rs.
After all this, he told me to drive the bike and provide the feedback on mileage after 10 days or after one week.
This is the first time, normal service cost me such expense.
Lets hope, this process will resolve all problems, though its now void my warranty part, but i dont mind, as far as bike satisfy me..

Re: Feedback on low mileage ...
Do whatever you can but trust me you can never get more than 45-46kmpl from this bike....My SZ-R is 3500kms old now, Best mileage i have got till date is 43(with sane riding), worst is 35 (with continuous speed between 85-100). overall it gives 40-42 with ease and this is the only area where this bike fails otherwise its a very good bike at a very reasonable price with excellent low-end for city and light body and that is why it feels better than unicorn, pulsar, hunk and gs150r inside city by a good margin....Originally posted by jammbuster View PostHello Friends, I dont know how to start this feedback... but I think I need to share this... before I will finally make up my mind for selling my bike which is just 10 months and completed only 6985 kms.

Re: Feedback on low mileage ...
The low mileage problem with this bike is really a heartbreaking.... even the new bullet is giving us mileage around 45kmpl....(though it is expensive)Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostDo whatever you can but trust me you can never get more than 45-46kmpl from this bike....My SZ-R is 3500kms old now, Best mileage i have got till date is 43(with sane riding), worst is 35 (with continuous speed between 85-100). overall it gives 40-42 with ease and this is the only area where this bike fails otherwise its a very good bike at a very reasonable price with excellent low-end for city and light body and that is why it feels better than unicorn, pulsar, hunk and gs150r inside city by a good margin....
Today, when this bike is around 68000rs and unicorn is around 71000rs... ppls will tends toward more unicorn, because of its greater mileage capability..
Yahama ppls needs to do something with this existing model... or ... anyone having better suggestion to change its mileage problem ... please suggest............

. A 150cc bike in real world gives mileage of around 40-45 only. Yamaha FZ ~ 40-42 KMPL, P150 ~ 45 KMPL , Unicorn ~ 50 KMPL ( all are my friends reviews ) . I think unicorn is most fuel efficient bike in 150cc bike, but it does not have much road presence in Delhi but have heard stories from people in south India that unicorn has/had waiting periods there . In Delhi, People are busy buying P150 ,FZ, Apache....
To over simplify it( it do add bit of vagueness in statement though
) , mileages for various segments bikes I have observed is :
100cc segment - 60 + KMPL
125cc segment - 50 + KMPL
150cc segment - 40 + KMPL
Did you say bullet ????? Bro, my STD 350cc 2003 model bullet gave me consistently 40-42 KMPL . But bullet is like girlfriend, it needs your time on weekends. Only difference is, with girlfriend you would be spending time in malls and with bullet you would be spending time in SVC.Last edited by MoonLight; 06-05-2013, 01:15 PM.

Stock Air Filter is around Rs. 220/- last year I got it changed. I dont know if the price is increased.Originally posted by jammbuster View PostHello Friends, I dont know how to start this feedback... but I think I need to share this... before I will finally make up my mind for selling my bike which is just 10 months and completed only 6985 kms.

Did you try to fiddle with the AFR setting? Try to keep it on 2 and 1/4 turns and not the 2 and half, see if it makes any difference. How much is your bikes idle, when cold and when hot?
Did you try to use the Yamalube SS oil?
I am consistently getting 45 kmpl in the city with less traffic on the road. Never went below 40 kmpl. Bike is 2 years and 3 months old with around 16K completed. I dont use the bike much as I have transport facility from Home to office and from office to home.

May be price difference may be because of different state...Originally posted by lalitp View PostStock Air Filter is around Rs. 220/- last year I got it changed. I dont know if the price is increased.

Re: Feedback on low mileage ...
yaar naveen i am very much disappointment with this bike..... this is my 7th bike.....Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostSo, how much mileage you are getting after changing engine oil, air filter etc....???
After this huge service expenses (Rs. 800) , the mileage is still hovered around 40kmpl... (i fillup the tank on reserve of 7050km 5 ltrs and today it got reversed on 7239 km (today) which means 189km only which means 37.5 mileage... )
I hate this things... if this thing will continue i will throw this bike ( but sadly i am getting only Rs. 39,000 in second hand market, due to low second hand price of Yamaha)
I am very sad .. very very much disappointed.

Re: Feedback on low mileage ...
yeahhh...mileage is the only factor where it lacks otherwise it is a excellent bike in its segment. my bike is giving me 42-43 consistently.... try to use hp petrol if possible as i have noticed that mileage drops below 40 whenever i use indian oil or BP.....Originally posted by jammbuster View Postyaar naveen i am very much disappointment with this bike..... this is my 7th bike.....
