@Naveen1985 To be very frank Naveen, someone who is used to (rather, pampered by) the SZR's refined engine and excellent low end torque, will find great difficulty in 'downgrading' to some other bike. The Gladiator/SS125 in this case is a very wrong choice, as it has a very poor low end torque. Moreover, jammbuster is looking for good mileage, which is not the SS125's forte.

Stunner is not a good choice either, IMO the Hero Ignitor is a better option with better gearing and slightly smoother engine.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

thats what i was telling him...but he wants mileage and thats why i told him to consider ss125 and as far as ignitor is concerned its top end is poor and it struggles to touch 90 sometimes due to short gearing and trust me galdy was a different thing as it was tuned for performance only but ss125 gives better mileage and still its top end performance is decent (not like glady) is also good in comparison to ignitor but yes i agree ignitor low end is better than ss125.

That's news to me... do you own the Glady or the SS?

my friend owns ss125 and its giving him consistent 53-55 kmpl in delhi but his cousins glady use to give only 45-48. In fact whenever i take his ss125 out on highway I always feel my sz-r feels little stressed after 85 but ss125 feels butter smooth and eager to touch 100 but below 70 story is opposite....

Ok...my Gladi also gave similar FE..mostly 44-45. szr is best at 80. Above 85,not only engine gets stressed, it also gets hot like crazy.

Bhai log.. thanks to both of you (bbsarilfan and Naveen 1985).... Can you suggest me if (if and only if) I will go for scooter ( i know i am now talking on different issue)

What about Aviator or Suzuki .. as i am good in height around 197cm and weight around 95kgs (better riding quality and better spare part availability)

What you people suggest me now... I am looking for telescopic shockers bec of better riding quality.

Please suggest as my bike is attracting resale value of Rs. 55000 and i am getting aviator around Rs. 53,000

ADVICE please........

jammbuster, aviator is nice & tall (hence good for someone as tall like you) and gets telescopic forks and optional discs too. The only concern would be that the 110cc engine may feel a bit underpowered.

• Better Carb or Upjetting your ideas and thoughts

Over the course of almost two months i thought giving some more POWER!! to my little Yamaha SZ-R.
It was little tempting after seeing shv18's FZ getting souped up. But I wanted to keep my mod's to simple and decided not to go with total heart replacement just yet.
A small idea is just bloomed in my mind why not upjet carb to a better size or why not just change the overall carb to get some better performance out of it?

What's your thoughts on this, is it really worth or just waste of time and money?

Approved and Merged

Just changing a carb will not help in anyway.

For your build and height hero maestro would be a better choice than aviator as it looks muscular, big, its coming with same 110cc engine, very big after sales and service network...

I think Joel from Race concept already has big bore kit for our bike which share same heart as FZ and Fazer. You also can play around with different Sprocket. SZ-R share same sprocket teeth setup as R15 v1.

Well, you wouldn't believe me, no upjetting or changing carb. would help you gain any more power than what the engine produces, you will simply be wasting money.
Rather get the spark plugs changed to new ones, a new stock air filter and get the carb tuned to 5-6 clocks instead of the default 4 or 4.5 clock(depends from one bike to another, I mean roughly increase fuel up by 1 to 1.5 clocks). You shall find your bike is little lazy at very low end pickup, you may feel the need to drop down to 1st gear in stop and go traffic, but much better once you go above 3 or 4k rpm and engine doesn't feel stressed out, you will feel the splurge of power in the bike above this RPM. Try it.
There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

Issues: Tyre grip was poor in rain, front brakes made screeching sound sometimes.

Basic Service, Oil change

Problems felt: Engine tuning done which inadvertently dropped my mileage to around 40kmpl, I cursed the n00b who serviced my bike.

5th Service: Aug'12 Odometer : 7040 KM
Basic Service, switch back to 20w40 Oil, chainlube
Expense: Rs.415
Efficiency: 30kmpl (top speed<60kmph, sometimes 80kmph)
Problems felt: Long ride in rain for fun had put water into the air filter and seeped into carb seeing a sudden drop in efficiency and ride quality.

Minor issue : Can't start bike, push start was easy. But horn, headlight, indicators, and brakelight don't work. So I could not take out the bike.
Imagine if it happened somewhere on road at night!!
Repair: Took to SVC next day, it was just a blown fuse fixed free of charge. I could myself fix if it happens next time.

6th Service: Oct'12 Odometer : 8610 KM
Basic Service, Oil and oil filter change, brake oil change
Expense: Rs.643
Efficiency: 35kmpl (top speed<60kmph, sometimes 80kmph)
Issues: No change in mileage, it never occured to me to again spend for air filter at this time.
Brakes were spongy due to riding more in water so had to replace brake oil.

Minor issue: Nov'12 Clutch spring broke at 8900km so gears would slip so I had to go back to SVC and get it fixed.
Cost: Spring and sealant was only around 40rs. Clutch overhaul labor was expensive. But I rather get it fixed now than ride with the risk.
Total Expense: Rs. 206/-

7th Service: Dec'12 Odometer : 9860 KM
Paid Service, steering overhaul Oil change and small consumables
Expense: Rs.848
Efficiency: 36kmpl (top speed<80kmph, sometimes 100kmph)
Issues: Brakelight bulb replaced, handlebar was making sound so had to get it greased i.e steering overhaul(extra labor charge).

8th Service: Feb'13 Odometer : 11470 KM
Paid Service, Oil Change, wash & chainlube.
Expense: Rs.771
Efficiency: 36kmpl (top speed<70kmph, sometimes 100kmph)
Problems felt: None.

9th Service: Apr'13 Odometer : 12890 KM
Periodic Maintenance Schedule Service: Oil Change, Oil filter, Air filter, Carb Overhaul, Clutch overhaul,
Brake overhaul, Swingarm overhaul, handle greasing redone, wash and chainlube.
Expense: Rs.1920
Efficiency: Yet to find out (top speed<60kmph, sometimes 80kmph)
Problems felt: Periodic maintenance service is done. Looking forward to a better mileage.
