1. You may be correct. But it is not my own discovery. A stranger while going together on our own bikes said me that Fazer, FZ16, FZS, SZR and SZX shares the same engine. Besides that, he went to the extent that Yamaha R15 uses the same engine with different bore stroke and compression ratios. According to him, modifying an engine is easy but designing one is not.
But after reading your post, I doubt that what I said earlier may perhaps be incorrect. Better consult an automobile engineer or someone like that. I too shall try to enquire about it. Ans: I am sorry mate, but I am a complete noob and learned my biking lessons on this same bike, so I cant comment on any of it.
2. You are misinterpreting my words. I did not say or imagine in my mind that your claim is a fake. At least, aren’t both of us riding on bikes? This is what I said: SZR reaches 110 kmh speed, not 100 kmh, at 10500 rpm in forth gear. Further, I said that for any bike it is difficult to reach the rpm where the maximum power it produces and going beyond that is almost impossible. This is from my experience and don’t know where I did abuse you or your bike. Ans: No, you no where abused me or my bike, I did not take it personally too, SZ-R top power is at 7.5K RPM and going beyond that is not that hard although it is not advisable.
3. If you are sure that the reading of speedo/tachometer is correct, it need not be checked. Anyway, riding at 10500 rpm – your bike redlines at 9500 – is not good for your bike as some engine parts like valves or something like that – I am not sure but read somewhere - may melt due to the extreme heat produced. Ans: You are 100% correct my friend, I just rip my bike for small burst, what you said is 100% correct that it is not good for engine in any way.
My Replies in bold. And I say it again, no hard feelings brother.
I don't agree with MoonLight's Theory... If a manufacturer launches an well engineered 150 CC Motorcycle in the price bracket of 125 CC Motorcycle, how come it would become a just alternative to 125 CC???
Please note that SZ and FZ series have the same engine with different MicroProcessor Programmed CDI units as both bikes are in two different BHP levels.
In any sense, you cannot compare a 150 CC with a 125 CC.

You got me wrong bro, it is alternative to 125cc in price factor . By spending 3-4 K more than 125cc bike, one can get SZR.... It is true value for money !!
haan yaar, i need to be sureshot before investing my hard money :-)
tht why sso much question raisedby me.
Very right !!
ny daily running is approx 65 kmpl total.
Thats good amount of running, as far as I can recollect you reported of back ache while driving passion plus. How is experience with SZR ??
i just saw new tunderbird yesterday... will planning to buy within few months llet some feedback to come. on ownership :-)
Well...on thunderbird, I can only say that Royal Enfields are really royal. But they want time spent on them...regular cleaning, washing..as they have lots of chrome parts which get rusted easily. This is where normal bikes score well, they have anti rust coating everywhere and can withstand irregular cleaning and washing. Not to mention, not every mechanic can repair enfields. On bad days, when my enfield just refuses to start...I have to take it to single mechanic in my area. spares availability is another issue. Enfield is mix bag. Thats what I can say.
PS: I am enfield owner from last 11 years.

Since 28.09.12 .. i purchased this bike... no pain at all..
just a little uncomfortable on left shoulder.. may be my driving posture was not right..
why 153cc engine making only 12.1 ps of power?
even P135 giving 13.5 ps
Its how those bikes are positioned. SZ is for the person who wants the torque and initial acceleration of a modern 150cc engine but doesn't need to take it to high speeds (something which extra horsepower helps in). As it is, he won't be exceeding 80 odd in the city, then whats the use of spending 10k extra which does 10kmph more at the top end?
Only true enthusiasts utilize the entire rev-range of the bike when riding everyday. Most common people don't even know that it is actually safe for the engine to be redlined everyday as long as the engine oil has not gone bad. FE notwithstanding, a daily home-office-home commuter will be more satisfied by the power delivery of an SZ as compared to that of the more powerful Pulsar 135LS (or even Discover 125ST) purely because its business end is the low-end, not the top of the rev-range, where a family man will rarely, if ever, venture.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
very true, so isit possible to increasethe bhp of sz.r,as the engine are same?
Yes its totally possible, but tampering with CDI is bad, you don't have good ppl or tools to do it, nor do I think that the CDi units are re programmable for one's found on your bike, you can however change the sprocket at front, initial pickup will get hit, but you must get more top speed.
In other note, I am facing a little difficulty shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, bikes 330days old, run about 9k Km.
Service engineer said we need to overhaul clutch and that can be done during my last service. Anyone else, same issue?

Enjoy... if deals finalized..then save 500rs for party ( as i am saving you 2000 - 3000 rs ) he he he
hey moon light kaha hai bhai..............
Today is first navraaterr... i am waiting for a news ...
So, finally I changed bike engine oil at 461km, snapshot attached along with bill receipt for all...
Nahi bhai, till 461 km.. no problems at all
Hey! you forgot to get the oil filter replaced at your first service??
Its very imp., as it will have tiny metal pieces lodged in it from the new engine, anyways I suggest you get in touch with the SVC and ask why they did not change the oil filter as recommended by the service booklet??
Note: I have always changed oil filter at alternate service so that my engine oil can flow easily through the filter. An sz oil filter should cost you about 30 to 40rs.
There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.
