He folks
Got my Uni after first service yesterday . looks as if nothing is been done on it . I was not satisfied with the washing part . The gear's feel little bit more smother , The RPM setting is normal as it was before 1.5 . had to spend around Rs 320 for oil change .
As i had a security system fixed on the bike - I loosed the warranty on the battery & other electrical related Items . I did not have much time to find out exactly what all is not covered under warranty now . Will have to check with them some day . The trip meter was not working & they did not have the part available to replace it . Have to go back next week to get it replaced .No vibrations after the service , which is good thing i guess .Thats it for now . will check the Millage and update you all ( was getting around 61 before the first service as it never crossed the 50 kph limit & now i am riding it in 60 kph most of the time ) . Bike has done 780 Km till date and a happy owner . Hoping that to continue
@ rakeshchn .. Sorry bro i totally forgot about the console . Will post a pic by today afternoon for you .sigpic

UpdateOriginally posted by locusjag View PostHi,
My 3 month-old Uni's 2nd free-service is just over. The idling RPM looks to be somewhere like at 1.5 on the meter, rather than the usual 1.1 [don't remember the units on the meter!]. The service guys seem to have tinkered a bit with the RPMs.
Will this affect the bike's performance?
I notice a lot of vibrations when i hit 60Kph these days, which wasn't there pre-service. Could this be due to the changed engine settings? I can practically feel the vibrations shaking my arms, it's that bad.
Please help!
PS: At 2100 Km run, they said the engine oil looks fine. One change of engine oil was done at 750Km.
I got the bike serviced by the local mechanic. He did a swell job of cleaning the carburettor and the air-inlet beneath the seat. He showed me how the water wash at the service center had clogged the inlet with lots of dirt and possibly water inside too. [Not sure of the water, but this is what he told me]. The throttle response is better than before too right now. The bike used to ride like an old lady wheezing with asthma when i had the vibes problem. That's done away with now.
So, now the bike is back to normal. The vibes are gone. I am checking the mileage currently. I got 35 kmpl earlier when i had the vibes. Right now am running the bike, checking for mileage.
Thanks Pradeep, Sherry and cyclone for your views. I will remember those points you'd added.

Sorry can you please answer my question?

Thanks in advance.Originally posted by pradeep30 View PostGood note with cost . Nice to know that even at 30,000 odd Km your service cost was bellow 2000 . My uni is done 670 Km now and on 7th have booked her 1st service . Hoping to get the best service .
Problem : Trip meter is not working . Other than that there is nothing much to discuss . I had fixed a security system for my bike with a remote start and off option . Will have to explain the same to the service center people to take care . Lets see .

When you give your bike for service in a Honda Show room , they usually make it a point that the seat is not opened while servicing and after the service its opened the inner part is just wiped with a wet cloth . They would instruct you strictly not to get the bike washed outside by any case as most of them don't know about the air filter under the seat . So take care of this . But if you feel that the issue happened while servicing in the show room , then for sure you should update the supervisor . May the people washing are not updated properly or are careless .Take this initiative as it could save other Honda Unicorns getting serviced there .
I hope your bike is running cool now . All the bestsigpic

Hi Pradeep,
The bike is running better than ever before right now, and the mileage is better too. The throttle-response it good as well.
As for telling the service center guys at Honda about the water-wash, i will. But I have an eerie feeling about those guys. I met a guy whose Unicorn got screwed by the Honda Service center. His formerly good engine knocks above 40 Kmph for no reason; he left it for service there though! Seeing him and others' disappointment with the service, i really am pessimistic...

So you got the first service done. well don't be disappointed. thats the same story everywhere. and thats how they perform the first so called servicing. the'll wash you bike just for the sake of washing it. and then there is not much to do on a new bike so it's just inspection they they need to go through.
And the engine oil costed you 320???? thats way too costly..

Top Speed after 1st service.
I would like to know the top speed you can achieve on your unicorn after your first service. I have just completed 1400 Km and my first service was done at the right time
. I tried to rip my bike yesterday the bike has a very gud pickup but the top speed I had achieved was around 105 to 107 km/hr. at full throttle as I was riding on Palm Beach road (MUMBAI)
. But I had a friend who was riding his unicorn along with me and he zoomed past me he is able to attain the top speed of 120 km/hr.
I wonder y? He said he also used to get the top speed of 105 during initial days of his unicorn but it will increase gradually I feel that this is utter crap as I have completed my run in period. Further, I checked his engine idiling time it is at 1.2k rpm while mine is around 1.5k any suggestions

Hi , sorry dude i never tried to take it to that level of 100 Kph yet . Well as far as my understanding goes after each service they tune the engine and the ratio of air fuel mixture is been changed .Only after say 2000 odd Km you will get the full power performance tuning from the service people . Till that time they would keep it bit low for the piston rings to get set well ( this is what i have heard .Not that sure though - have experienced the same with my fiero . She is running in 103 kph now without any problem , But before she used to give 90~95 )Originally posted by mujeebrehman4u View PostI would like to know the top speed you can achieve on your unicorn after your first service.
Hope this helps

Honda engine oil price.
when I gave my bike for the first service all i paid was R.s 195 for the engine oil and I checked the price on the oil container it was Rs195. So I don't know why other service centers hike the price
