The reason they say to warm up the engine is to make sure the oil is fluid enough to flow back to sump before checking oil. The couple of mins here is to make sure that oil is warm enough to be fluid enough to flow to the bottom. What manual states is absolutely right. If you park the bike to cool down, eventually the oil will settle to the sump and makes life easier. Both ways are pretty accurate.
Always check and top up engine oil level when the engine is cold or when the engine has completely cooled down. This way, all the oil that's up has time to settle down to the sump. The recommended oil level is the one in the second pic, oil level between those two marks. Do not overfill.
Today I changed the engine oil and oil filter myself for the first time for cbr 250 and I guess I did a rookie mistake by overfilling it.
I filled the oil from 2 Motul 10w40 7100 litre bottles.
While filling the oil I got obsessed to fill upto the top marking of oil level window and forgot to check the quantity of oil left in the bottle . Problem is that only 250ml is left in the 2nd bottle which means 1750 ml has been filled in the engine. Manual says to pour 1500 ml while oil and oil filter replacement.
Attached are the pictures while the bike is vertical on a paddock stand, engine is warm. Please advise whether extra oil would damage the engine and I should drain the extra oil.
I did a level check on cold engine, it was above the top level as in the 2nd attachment.
For peace of mind, drained ~125ml to make it level just about the top level of inspection window also on cold engine
Lesson learnt: Engine oil level w.r.t inspection window makes sense on a cold engine.

Has anyone used the Pirelli Angel CTs here? How has the experience been? I have Michelin PSR installed right now, but would like to go for something cheaper if the performance is similar. A bulk of my riding is in the city with occasional highway/interstate rides.
Apart from the availability and price issues, these are the most VFM Pirelli's you can buy right now if your requirement is not looking for cornering or aggressive braking when the front-end is heavily loaded. On the straight lines its pretty much on-par with Diablo Rosso 2's H rated ones!
I've tried them on the new 2020 BS6 Mojo's and I can say they do the job well.

Yes. Made in Indonesia ones, wonderful set of tires, very confident inspiring wet grip, and dry grips are exceptionally good.

Honda Radiator Liquid is the best liquid, you can use Engine Ice or Motul MotoCool Expert. I personally use the Honda Radiator Liquid liquid and if you can't get any of the liquids, get Yamaha R15 coolant, best.
From my personal experience, LiquiMoly doesn't make a drastic difference and it isn't worth the high price it demands. What matters is periodic lubrication interval and proper slack of the required wear and tear components makes a dramatic difference in smoothness and ride quality.
Up to you, but technically Motul 7100 10W40 FS is slightly superior to any of the 10W40 FS engine oils except Shell 10W40 FS
Boy!! I was bewildered, baffled & possibly bamboozled by "A" instead of "I" - I meant nissIn!! Galfer is sintered; you should be able to Google, let us know other pls.
It's some amount of oil always, always gets evaporated from any 4S & 2S engine be it 2, 4, 6 or n wheeler as long as its powered by fossil fuel & uses oil for lubricant. Ideally need to keep checking every 1000 Km to be on safer side until we understand our steeds well. For instance, my C250R needs top-up at 2500 Km & every 1200 odd Km there after until 8K. Shell Rimula - I'm not the best person to comment.
Hello guys. Where's a good place I can take the bike for servicing in Kochi? I'm home thanks to COVID and I've heard that the showroom mechs are not very good.
I've a 2018 abs model, currently 13,000 km on the odo. All the engine oil & oil filter changes are done in time, last oil change was done at 11,330 km, last oil filter was replaced at 8,250km, air filter was replaced at 8,000 km and I'm a sedate rider.
I'm facing a weird problem. My engine oil level has reduced drastically and suddenly in the last 200 km from top mark to around lower mark on the engine oil level check window. I topped it up with around 250 ml.
I'm using Rimula R4 with OEM oil filter.
Apparently there is no visible oil leakage on the outside.
Any pointers what could be the reason for the sudden oil level drop?
If it's any consolation, the same thing happened with me too. And, not long after I did an oil and oil filter change. The mechanic filled in 1.4L and after maybe 200-250 kms of riding, the oil level was down to the lower level mark. So, I topped up with an extra 100 ml to bring it back to the upper level mark. I found the explanation in the service manual which says engine oil capacity at draining should be 1.4L, on oil filter change should be 1.5L and at disassembly should be 1.6L.
Currently I'm using Motul 7100 10W40 oil in my CBR 250. Odo will hit 50k kms in few days.
Now I am thinking to shift to Liqui Molly. So I want to know ~ should I move to Liqui Molly or Motul 7100 is still decent enough ?

aargee, thanks for sharing your views. But the strange part is that ~250ml of oil vanished into thin air within last 200kms only whereas last Rimula oil was drained after ~3000 km without any drop in oil level.
