Last thing i would plonk in my bike would be a K&N. These cotton gauge type filters are nice in air flow & free but poor in terms of air filtration thus letting in tiny debris damaging valves and liners. Neither good is the stock paper type and so foam has been the best of the two worlds for me. Stock paper type is restrictive choking the breath of the stock mill.

As per rpms 10k is just enough. How much on the ODO btw?
Do mention the ODO reading it speaks a lot. [emoji16]

I have run around 300km with k&n, but 9350 on the odo, I'm happy to plonk back the stock filter, feels smooth and relaxed like before, when i had k&n installed i used to get starting problems, hiccup while full throttle, engine overheating, low mileage, black smoke in exhaust, and rpm would shutter at 7-8k felling like fuel about to run out. And worst of all i was unable to climb Nandhi hills where mopeds used to over take me.😂

I have now made up my mind to order in the big bore kit from raceconcepts (not finalized between 165cc and 185cc yet) . Will connect with Rehan bhai for the install once I have it with me.

Have been following this thread since I thought of buying an Impulse in last October. Rich in information related to the bike. Also the experiences shared by the riders are very helpful in understanding the machine more.
Have been using my Impulse since Nov 2015 with lots of ups and downs.
One of them being the Carb Slide Jamming issue. Has anyone found any permanent solution for that..???
Also my tyres have started showing minor cracks all over yet the bike was bought in Nov 2015. Contacted Ceat Customer care and they ruled out the replacement option as they say the tyres were manufactured in Apr 2011 and hence out of their warranty period of 3 years.
Contacted the dealer and he is just giving fake commitments that he will help me in getting the tyres replaced at no cost. This is going on since more than a month. Complained on Hero Customer Care but in vain.
Any suggestion from you guys will be of great help.

          Thanks,
          Nishit

Less on the ODO to witness problems like these get it checked I'd say and the latter problem is with every stock impulse...a splendor is very likely to overtake you anytime uphill. Climbing altitudes is hard on the stock Impulse's mill given the super shitty dynamics and calibration of the carb !

I faced all those issues while running on k&n filter, but on stock filter bike feels fine except on elevation, altitude sickness i guess 😂 but you can turn the fuel screw to clock wise to reduce fuel flow since there is less air while getting to the top. But not sure till which extent it would work.

                Hi there.

Do anybody has the part catalogue of the Impulse. Would be a great help to me & the community if one can source it from the hero dealers around.

Also a help required if anyone can ask or source the plastic gear attached inside the black colored front wheel speedo assembly at the centre hub.

I lost it in the midst of all the hustle & bustle while carrying the front wheels as spares in the raid.

Question to the guys who have fitted zma engine on impulse or guys who are in touch with them

Dose it require to change the whole wiring harness or hacking into impulse wiring is sufficient, as zma has a 3 phase alternator.

Hi bro. Mine broke and couldn't get a new one from the Hero Service Centre. A mechanic friend fitted the Xtreme's pinion and it works but the accuracy of the speed and kms might differ bcos of the difference in tyre sizes

Complete wiring of ZMA wont work as the wiring of head and speedo assembly and all is completely different ! What i did was as fiddled around with Impulse's stock wiring. I manually cut it, sorted if according to the CDI and Charger. Moreover the CDI slots are diff as that of Impulse so instead cutting it off again I ran a lot on Impulse's CDI too. Later then on that of ZMA.

Ahh good for you bro . No actually the xTreme comes with an 18" wheel so there will be a slight accuracy issue. It will be a little advance.

Finally Took the plunge and got a brand new impulse. This was an extremely impulsive :P decision as i had to decide to buy the bike in half an hour. I am totally in love with her. Coming from a duke 390, this is so much fun to ride and i dont have to worry about potholes anymore. Waiting for the temporary registration to come in and then i shall exploit her to the fullest
