the bike had quite a few issues but i guess its part of the deal. now getting everything sorted.
got it supersized to 180cc, a free flow exhaust. pretty decent improvement in power, more fun to ride now..

How much did you pay for it? I might go in for a used impulse too. <cant afford your other bike, though. >

Useless on riding terms because on a light bike like impulse the rear locks up in a slit second throwing the bike's balance off. Either one needs to still master over the rear disc on dirt tracks or stick with the rear drums as they are gradual and potent enough for many sorts ! While on the grounds of aesthetics one might crank that beauty up a notch with that !

I may go for this modification using a small radius disc or small cross section pad to avoid lockup (just a future project). I am currently rebuilding a karizma engine to fit on my bike.
One thinking on rational grounds might end up realising a fact that mastering your skills on a motorcycle takes a lot of practice and hardships. So the extent to which you push honing your skills increases day by day on your motorcycle. Question in the picture is if you are potent enough to throw your dirt bike around dirt corners and ramps and make the best put of what your bike has...and if the stock things like drum brakes are not enough for the way you ride. I ask when was the last time one entered a dirt corner at 70+kph...when was the last time one descended a hill steep enough to tip over on that bike we own.

I think the drum brakes potent enough, capable enough to lock your wheel anytime you want (same as disc), accelerate and lock it again...and again. Attaching a disc brake requires skills more than a pro. Its a mod better to be done when you've mastered the skills on drums over years on dirt tracks and off roads (unlikely here). Dirt events that happen on Impulse have no rear disc brake, they run on drum brakes and watch the way they ride that thing.

Maybe one needs to hone his skills first than his rear brakes. Maybe that rear disc attachment just another attempt to make the bike aesthetics better. They look better, you have something different. Thats it. Its no sensible decision.

So ill stick to drums. Until i master over them.

The bike isn't mine. It belongs to an acquaintance. Yaah the tyres are new though ! They happen to wear out at 15-17000kms.

Hello there you guys have nice community over here on impulse and adventure. On similar note i was on Rishikesh last month for 3 days and and almost rented a bike for solo discovery of the road ahead but thanks to overcast an forecast i have to cancel. Any way i will return in near future. I would definitely give a heads up beforehand. Regards

            Hehe..
The cost for 180 would be 15k, this will include the head ,kit, crank , free flow exhaust and other bits included.
If you want the mod without the freeflow then it'll be 11k.
I got it done from a guy called Rehan in Malaviya Nagar(Delhi).
you can contact him for details - 09312709131

You may reach out to Joel Joseph. He is based out of Bangalore but he delivers the kit to Mumbai and also has a mechanic who could fit the same to your impulse.

switched to mrf after giving up on finding gripp XLs
tyres + tubes are oct 2015 manufactured.

also got a leather seat cover made as my seat is now around 4 years old and the stitching is allowing water to seep in

still need a lot of work to be done. had a chain+sprocket kit flown in from mumbai (Fortpoint)
feel like i should change clutch plate. should i do this @ 30000Km? more like a preventive measure.

next would be rim stickers, the pulsar 135 hugger, and a windshield (even if it is more form than function)

feel a considerable loss in power nowadays but i feel after a full service and change of oil, air filter, chain it should spring back to new *fingers crossed*

IMP: theres a very shrill metal ringing/vibration noise at 5500RPM... not before, not after... very irritating.. due to this noise i am shifting before 5.5k and cruising @ 5k @65 nowadays so getting more efficiency :P but thats not the point... how do i pinpoint the vibration source..

                          Zapper FM 90/90 19"
                          Zapper C 100/90 17"

I could not find 110/90 for rear. They had a 120 which would not fit and was tubeless.
After searching a lot for a 110-section Zapper/similar pattern tyre, I settled for this. Doesn't look too out of place IMO.

Knobby pattern CEATs were very bumpy even on perfectly tarred roads, and had uneven wear further adding to handling woes.

So switched to road-focused Zappers this time, looking to do some long distances nearby Bengaluru.

Impulse owners looking for tyres can wait for royal Enfield himalyan launch. Seems it has same impulse ceat tyres 19" front and 17" rear.
