Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Hey guys, I am looking for replacement of tank scoops for my impulse. I am in need of a right side one. The service centre at my place says the company is not supplying, I have been waiting for months. Can anyone help or suggest what I can do?

Yess ! Both 28mm carbs. With Cbz xtreme's carb having a mainjet of 128 instead of 132 as that of Impulse !Originally posted by sancreation View PostDoes impulse carburettor and cbz carburettor same or different.mine has started giving problems.
What are the problems btw?Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/

Weird. How many kms on the odo btw?Originally posted by sancreation View PostMy bike doesn't rev after 4000k. Even in full throttle.i gets up slowly even splendour ppl over take me.dono if vacuum piston is to blame..
There are no spares in asc ordered them 21days back yet to receive.
Wt do u suggest
and carb is the only thing to blame. Get to a mechanic he'll help you out. Could be carb slide, in-carb malfunctions or other normal problems.
What did you ordered from the asc?Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
I ordered a carburettor vacuum piston..local mechanics told that vacuum piston is getting stuck while giving throttle...and it's 8500 on the odo.
I tried cleaning up the carbs but after a week problem persists..
It's like going out of fuel..the bike gasps after 4000k..
Most of the time it's during when the bike is cold or when it rains

Yaah. Same goes for most of the Impulse around. Same happened to me too so I thought to solve this dilemma for me.Originally posted by sancreation View PostI ordered a carburettor vacuum piston..local mechanics told that vacuum piston is getting stuck while giving throttle...and it's 8500 on the odo.

What i did was. I opened up the carb after i realised how the rpm didn't had that linear rev to it now (didn't knew till then that the carb slide was the culprit). I had opened the carb earlier with the slide a lot of times but didn't paid a lot of attention to the carb slide scuffing that had occurred and occurs on a lot of Impulse around.
Finally that leading to a stuck slide and poor power delivery i had to open up. Saw the scuffing and scoring that had occurred and left marks on the slide piston and the carburetor vessel too.
So what i did was i took a fine 400grade emery paper and rubbed it inside the vessel in a circular finger movement thus making the walls smooth and the same procedure was followed on the slide piston too. Thus making the two glazing surfaces smooth enough not to get each other scuffed. I installed back the carb and it ran great .
...until the next morning, the carb slide stuck again. This time i saw the same scuff marks but less. So grinded a lil more. Installed back, ran fine , stuck again. I exposed the carb's intake side removing the air intake hose pipe and cranked the vehicle and throttled the carb to see that the slide still rests at its seat at wide open throttle too.
Opened up the carb this time and saw the burr the 90degree angle that the carburetor slide vessel bore makes with the carb bore. That sharp burr in contact with the slide piston, i though might be the culprit leading to the scoring on the slide piston. So i took a triangle smooth file and gave that burr a chamfer. More of a fillet (smooth).
I did the same on both the burrs, one on the carb intake side and on the carb outlet i.e. the cylinder's intake side at the side with butterfly valve. (the one side that goes into the cylinder).
Also i file rubbed the small two triangular marks or depreciations given at the bottom of slide piston. Maybe given for the proper seating but obstructing to my observations. Which at close throttle operations or coasting i felt might be getting stuck. The many times i tried after rubbing and fitting the slide back and testing the bike out on a trial, i felt this.
Now with chamfers on both the burrs and rubbing the slide carb bore and slide itself too, i installed back the slide with a little clean oil at the slide surface. and its the 2nd day now, it has been running fine. Hoping it lasts long.Last edited by Ankitvile; 09-28-2015, 01:19 PM.Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/
