I have a 2012 hero impulse. My issue is the bike accelerates normally when starting from a standstill or when at low rpm, but as the rpm increases or may be after 5k rpm, the acceleration increases very slowly even if I completely twist the throttle. Can someone tell me what could be the issue??

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
I have felt the similar issue on my bike too when this happens even splendour overtakes me..most of the time it happens when it rains...
To solve the issue just hold the clutch and accelerate till the red line for a few seconds..then it will be fine.hope this helps.

either running lean or too rich else your clutch is dyeing...Originally posted by ajcletus500 View Postmy bike accelerates normally when starting from 0 but at high rmp, the acceleration is very slow even when I twist throttle full. what could be the issue??
can be many other things but these are main causes.
list down more symptoms and we shall be able to isolate the cause."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Hey guys .... Good to see you all after a long time :-)
I was very keen to get k&n filter or free floor exhaust for my impulse to get some noise so enquired about the same with lot of people around.
I got to know that installing any after market filter exposes and easily attracts mud and water from front tyre. Free flow exhaust isnt a good idea keeping pillion rider comfort in mind.
So I opened up filter box and saw there is a kind of cover to stock filter, removing which will give me the sound I want :-D
Wanted to know if removing that cover causes any problem to engine or affect performance? I don't see any mesh in the cover and I think removing that will NOT cause any problem.
Please advice.

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
this is absolutely fine, Even I have removed it after first servicing. You now just need to clean the air filter once in 3000kmsOriginally posted by surya111 View PostHey guys .... Good to see you all after a long time :-)

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
I guess u r talking about the rubber cap on top of the filter also known as the snorkel ...if yes u r inviting trouble in rainy season as water seaps in clogging up the air filter element if left open always...
What u can do is buy a new snorkel cut it in half so it doesn't let water go in and voila u have deep throaty sound and also protection from water..I'm doing the same thing

No, water doesn't seeps in. Only thing is that the filter get dirty a lot.Originally posted by sancreation View PostI guess u r talking about the rubber cap on top of the filter also known as the snorkel ...if yes u r inviting trouble in rainy season as water seaps in clogging up the air filter element if left open always...

Open simply by removing the snorkel joint and then another set of screws that tighten the air filter. Clear the dust that accumulates nearby. Blow air if possible thought the blower side of a vacuum cleaner. Fit it back and ride.Flying at the speed of Life!

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
K&N does get wet during water wash. You need to wrap it with plastic cover to be safe.Originally posted by sancreation View PostWen u pressure wash the bike don't u think water gets in when sprayed from the side...coz wen I left for full service.. after bike was washed and seat removed There was water on top of the air filter...
Not an issue with rain.

Well, this is a very common issue in most of the impulse including mine. you need to change the carburettor slide .
For more information go to page number 187 in this thread, husqvarna has explained it. I followed the same. I replaced it with unicorns since impulse's is impossible to find in Chennai or anywhere for that matter. I wont say the performance is the same but it works pretty well.
