    hey guys

i had an accident on my impulse.. **** all accident.. two drunk guys hit me and blah blah..
damage to the bike is a bent crash guard that saved my leg and a broken right rearview miror..
i gave the bike for its second free service yesterday and was outraged that they dont have any spares for the impulse. i plan to lodge a complaint with hero corporate about this soon but will need to replace the crash guard and mirror.. any idea where i can get them in chennai? also i want to put good knuckle guards.. the kind that come with the duke 390.. any suggestions???
Spare parts for the impulse is a big issue. i had to wait for more than 3 weeks to get all my spares. couldnt ride the bike for quite some time. I could find a mirror for more than a month. finally attached a different mirror.

If Hero wants to use Impluse as their flagship bike for the Sunburn; should not we expect Hero to atleast treat its Impluse owners better..!!! Hero are you listening????

here is my dreadful experience with the ASC for my second service...
i had fell on the bike and bent the crash guard and broke one rearview mirror.. so i asked them to fix it all. When i went and picked up my bike, it was all the same, when asked abotu the crash guard, the guy said 'since the exhaust pipe is in the way, we cant bend the crash guard' and i was like 'ok , so give me a new one'. They didnt have it in stock. Rearview mirror?? not in stock .. i mean What the FUDGE? why would i continue giving my bike to hero service center.. i went to my trustworthy mech, he fixed the crash guard with a steel pipe in 5 minutes and even painted the scratch.. voila.. good as new..

pathetic service from hero, if this bike wasnt so good i would have driven the bike straight back into the showroom where i bought killing all the salesmen and service guys.. (maybe not)

bro im from chennai too.. went to hardeep motors in GP road yesterday and he said he is getting the knuckle guards next week.. the ones similar to the guards on the duke390.. the normal plastic ones are available with him even right now...

that very true on one side Hero ppl go gaga over Impulse and ASC straight forwardly discourage you to buy Impulse . Most of the parts on Impulse are kind of unique ( u can find same spare parts on another Hero's bike i.e swing arm ,front suspension, rear mono suspension , rear brake arrangement along with foot peg ... ) and second very few Impulse on road we ppl ( owner of Impulse ) are going to have tough time ahead to find stock spare parts.

                  question time:

                  1) The petrol tank - is it made of steel /metal or is it plastic?

                  2) Tank bags - has anyone tried magnectic tank bags on the impulse? if so, which one is the best for impulse?

I m thinking of a very long ride (incl rough roads)...and am wondering whether impulse or ZMA-R would be a good candidate. I ride a CBR250 now.

The petrol tank is metal... steel or not i dont know... definitely not plastic..
tank bags sound interesting... if some one could share a pic?
this bike is made for long rough roads... the ZMA-R would feel better on awesome roads though

                          Mods,

Kindly forgive me if this is irrelevant here, just in a urge asking this query:

Since we all do lot of road trip and at time we do not get place to charge our cellphone on an emergency. People who tend to have backup batter is different and for smartphone users I am and concerned and also curious to know on whether do we have any external charging point which could be connected to the motorcycle battery which allow us to charge the cellphone. I do understand adding external equipment with electricals is not recommended; but a simple USB port is not going to consume much from the battery. Any pointers on this appreciated !

                          Cheers,
                          Ganesh

Happy, Safe and Sensible ride !

                            HeadLamp Power:

I do not see great power from the stock bulb. Are there any recommendations on the up-gradation for better power. If so please update me the specification.

                            Rear Indicators:

It is bit frustrating when I hit the rear indicators whenever I get from bike down (because of 5.5" height). Is there any place where we can integrate/keep the indicators with in the rear break-lights compartment.

I am planning to go for a road trip in coming week and I drive during night hours to avoid traffic, it would be very helpful if someone knows any well versed mechanic who does my requirement within Bangalore.

                            Cheers,

Do you feel you have enough light if you hold the flash button?
If so, then you can use it to power the head light. This will run off the battery so you will have a steady light.

I think sidhubudhu was talking about after how many kilometers should one change to fully synthetic??
After the intial run-in period anytime should be okay.
Using it may be overkill and an expensive affair.
                                Semisynthetics should be fine.
