i feel idling is more stable.. no great boosts
2.removed an engine mud guard kind of thing that HERO guys gave me with the bike
now here is the deal, IF YOU GOT YOUR BIKE WITH A COMPLIMENTARY ENGINE MUD GUARD FROM HERO, TAKE IT OFF RIGHT NOW AND BURN IT OUTSIDE THE SHOWROOM AT NIGHT...
i was riding this bike at 75% of its capability until now.. retarded showroom guys

i have recently been facing a snoaring kind of sound from the engine when i try to accelerate a bit hard when engine is a little cool.. any ideas on this?

    About the ride

    i went via Vellore->Krishnagiri->Hosur->electronic expressway

the road is pretty awesome and you can really push hard.. there were stretches where i was maintaining 90 to 95 and max i pushed it to 105.. no unusual engine heating .. brakes are not as reassuring as i would like it at these speeds.. but everywhere you stop, get ready to tell everyone what mileage you are getting coz thats what everyone is gonna ask..lol

    I returned via Kolar->chittoor->Bypass->Sri Perambatur..

Much better scenery and good dhabas..and some bad roads (feels good to ride these and chill while watching other bikers bounce up and down)..lmao

BTW has anyone noticed the weird shape of the chasis in the front near the engine opposite the horn.. it looks like its bent in.. i freaked out but saw it on other bikes like this one on google

(see near the joint between silencer pipe and engine).. what the hell is that?

I just went down to the parking to take a look at that spot its there.. never noticed before. What the hell... they have shaven the chasis a bit to give way for the bent exhaust.

I m buying an Impulse on Monday! After a 3-week bike-less existence, I am finally getting back on the saddle. I noticed that the Impulse didn't have hand guards.. planning to add this and a givi top box. I have a magnetic tank bag already.

        This is going to be my bike #7! The cubic capacities have had a wild fluctuation over the years 100 - 150 - 650 - 225 - 650 - 250 - 150 now...

hey man i think you can get the model number from the shop itself.. im not certain there are too many iridium models in india to begin with.. the plug and cable took 10 minutes to install.. no issues.. cost is about 550 for the plug and about 350 for the cable.. i bought it from Hardeep motors in chennai.. he fitted two plugs on my previous pulsar too (coz that was twin spark).. i never had any issues with them over 6 years

by the way i see that the spitfire cable connects to another cable.. which then goes somewhere else.. does this make the cable redundant?

11am: Going to the dealership now to collect my Hero Impulse.

I brought my Impulse home today. The ride quality is really terrific! I am amazed by the manner that I didn't have to slow down for potholes (like the rest of the traffic). The bike is actually like a bicycle (a complement) esp since my last ride was a portly CBR250.

The idle rpm was set at 1000rpm from the showroom...based on the manual I changed this to 1400rpm. The clutch I think still requires some adjustment as the bike doesn't put down the power well, esp at low rpm >> bad mechanic @ Hero!

All in all, I am quite happy with my purchase (esp with the discount). I still need to add a top box and hand guards...

The mods seem functional and interesting. Please do post close up pics of the front mudguard - how it is fitted on the forks and the headlight from the front.
By the way, do you feel the need for a better windshield when cruising at 80+ speeds on highways?

                      hi guys...

how can i keep mice away from chewing wires of my impulse. I went himachal for a week and parked my bike covered in open inside my building compound. today morning i washed it and found that wires around battery were chewed by mice. i had to call a mechanic n drag my bike to his garage. it costed me 700 bucks to fix it. still my bike is in guaranty period. two free services remaining but i had no option then to call local mechanic because ASC is far away. Also ASC guys would have charged me more then 1500 bucks. but now i dont know how to keep mice away from my bike. any desi jugad guys??? please share....

Regarding Hid you might want to google. There are dozens of explanations. Those China made white bulbs are illegal. They work on normal hs1 socket. As an alternative you can opt for 55/60w bulbs. But those need some tinkering with coils. You can check with local bike electricians. They might help you.
I once tried 55/60w on my pulsar 135ls without any modification and it completely drained my battery. Eversince I have held on to stock. So take your chances.

Be careful with hardeep though. They have cheated me some 800bucks. The bill was hand written and without the model no. I could not fight back. Cunning people.

                            • Big Bore Kit from Joel

                              Hi Guys,
I have owned an Impulse for more than a year. The bike is fun and nimble but felt like a toy.
After seeing some posts on XBHP's forum I contacted Race concepts and got a big bore kit from Joel.
After discussing with him I opted for a 165cc upgrade instead of a 190cc kit.
The 165cc upgrade is just a replacement job and does not require any other adjustments or modifications.
According to Joel it has "Bullet Proof Reliability". I have got the kit fitted about 6 months back.
The Pick up has has increased a great deal and due to the increase in torque I can stay in higher gears for much longer time. The exhaust note has become slightly throaty and the bike does not feel like a toy anymore.
I have faced no problems after the replacement and I enjoy riding the Impulse even more.
I use the bike as a run about and have not noticed any increase in fuel consumption.
But to deal with Race concepts you need real patience as they have one of the worst sales and support team if you are based out of Banglore.
It took me 2 months ( after making full advance payment ) of constant follow ups via email and phone to get my hand on the kit. And again the pin provided to lock the piston would not fit, so my mechanic had to source locally and after some turning and grinding fitted the locally made pin and got the kit working.
i paid Rs. 5500 for the kit.

Wow, this is really interesting. A 165cc upgrade without any niggles, you got it right bro, congrats. I am loving my impulse but feeling the same, the punch much needed for the offroader is missing. Question to Chennai Impulse owners : Any one have tried fitting the kit locally? Or you have to ride all the way to Bangalore for that?
