Thanks Bavlo and nirvan for the inputs. Will take the bike to Asc and get the problem sorted.
My bike was taken from Virar (go-down) to thane for registration and then delivered to me. The odometer was disconnected during this period .During delivery the odometer was reading zero. So I am guessing the bike has surely logged approx 125 km or more. I changed the oil so as to clear any metal debries which might have accumulated during initial running in. I put motul20w50 as 10w30 was not available in 1ltr can.

Experts please advise. is it because of bad oil? though oil level is ok. i measured it this evening after the ride but i saw one drop of oil hanging from the drain bolt under the engine. i wiped it with a cloth. tomorrow morning ill check if another drop is there... but i could feel the heat on my shin n toes so much that i felt like not riding it.

I have been using Honda 10w30 oil since a few hundred kms and there is not problem what so ever. earlier i have used hero oil which used to die at 1800 kms... Its was not a good quality oil, I also tried Mobil 10w30 but the oil hardly managed to reach 2000-2200 kms and gave way and engine felt rough. Now i have used Honda 10w30 and just inbetween yesterday and today i did Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai 300kms (150kms Nonstop each way) at speeds ranging inbetween 80 and 97kms constant and the oil felt good the engine was not heating etc.

Regarding the Khat khat sound. it actually comes from the calliper piston unit which travels up to the handle bar. tell your mechie to open the unit and check for the stationary brake pad if it is loose. or so. The khat khat sound got solved in my bike. I have earlier tried all cone set, handle tightening etc. but the culprit is actually the front brake assembly.

hi thanks for your reply. Today i talked to my local mechanic over phone and told him that i saw a drop of engine oil hanging on the drain bolt to which he said that engine is heating because of leakage which actually happened after he changed oil for me. He told me to come to him to get leak checked. i will take my bike to him on Tuesday and will tell him to rectify tak tak sound according to your suggestion. thanks alot mate.

hi. good that you changed oil but please stick to the 10w30 grade. your engine is new and bike is also in warranty period. Otherwise also put 10w30 for a better experience.

Dear Hero Impulse users, I have few queries and would appreciate immediate responses and guidance on the same. I am planning to buy an Impulse in next few days and your pointers / guidance would help me in making a good decision here.

              1. I am from Navi Mumbai and we have this A.S.C. – Spectra Auto, Nerul. The Manager told me that Hero has stopped the production / manufacturing of Impulse since 2013. They have Impulse models of 2012 manufacturing year only. Can any of you tell me if this is true? Why did Hero stopped the manufacturing of Impulse in 2012 - 2013?

              2. Can somebody provide me a checklist of things which needs to be verified when I can take the Delivery of the bike? Company’s default accessories, Engine Oil, Brakes, etc? I have a concern because if I buy the bike, it is of 2012 Manufacturing Year and hence your help on this would be much appreciated.

              3. While he showed me the actual bike, the Odometer count was 93 Kms. And when I asked him why these many kms have been used, he said it is just the commute between warehouse etc and the bike has not been used for a test ride purpose ever. Would this be true?

              4. He said that 5 years Hero service warranty may not be applicable as the bike’s manufacturing date is of 2012 year. Only 2 years warranty would be applicable. 5 Years warranty came into effect in 2013 so all the models of and after 2013 can have 5 years warranty and any models before 2013 will have 2 years warranty. When I insisted for 5 years warranty, he told me he will check with the Area Sales Manager and get back to me tomorrow i.e. on 25th Feb, Tuesday. Should I be adamant to claim the 5 years warranty in this case? Would the case go in my favour?

              5. Manager added that as the bike’s manufacturing date is of 2012, even the Zero Debt Insurance may not be applicable. What should I do as I definitely would like to opt for a Zero Debt Insurance?

Looking forward to quick and detailed responses from fellow forum members.

              Thank you!

Hi, If your conclusion is because of the 2012 Manufacturing date than I have checked with Fortpoint in Mahim, Mumbai too and they also have 6-7 models of Impulse of 2012 year only. Basically all the Authorized Dealers of Mumbai are saying the same thing that Impulse models available are of 2012 Year only. Please help me!

                      hi

It is true that production stopped in 2012. They had demand when they launched the bikes but not enough stock. By the time they boosted their stock, people have invested in different bikes. So all got held up.

Warranty is for 3 years or 40000kms whichever is earlier, as per the bike manual. So it will be valid. As ur dealer to check the manual.

For delivery checkup, u need to collect the toolkit (pg 33 in manual & usuallyu wont get the complete list, happened to me so i filled up whatever necessary myself), first aid kit, documents - insurance and RC(if available), invoice, check the rear view mirrors, any rust inside tank (as far as possible), engine oil level, collect both keys, check all light especially headlight and rpm meter crosscheck (for one member tachometer/rpm meter not working if headlights switched on) & headlight alignment as low beam/driving beam should focus the road and not top of trees.

Don't stress on insurance either as all modes of insurance are gimmick and every insurance has its conditions hidden somewhere strategically. Even if they accept to replace any parts in insurance, spares wont be available in most of ASC. So chill out.

And u must demand for a hefty discount for buying 2 years old vehicle.

                      All the best, happy riding

Thank you Sir for a detailed response. By the way, Rs. 70K is the final quote I have got. Fair Enough? or Should I negotiate few bucks more? Please let me know.

                          70 onroad? Inclusive of insurance?
Even last year many were getting till 72 onroad, so u can insists on more discount, tell them that there is no resale value for this bike and spare parts are also very rare to get it (if he says there is no problem with spares and easily available, then ask him for its chain & sprokets and spare rear rim, if he still shows u stock of same, u can purchase that also and keep it safe at home, u will need it sometime in future and may not be readily available in market) and tell him friends have bought it last year for same price and try to negotiate for 65k. Try it, there's no problem in it. Tell them that this bike is very less wanted and they may not be able to sell it for another year.

Hi, there has been news on a more powerful impulse in the cards from hero also there are expectations from Honda to come out with an off-roader too. I do not know your intentions buying the impulse, but its not a true off roader. It does handle well in patches during an offroad ride but if you looking for some serious off-roading stunts, impulse may not be the right one. Other hand, if you are looking for a sports bike for commute and occasional fun, impulse is the right one.

Yes, impulse production is stopped, already some of the spare parts are not available with ASCs. Coming to your other questions, 93km on the ODO is still unacceptable, I doubt it was used for test rides. Do insist on extended warranty, I bought my impulse on Jul-2012 with extended warranty (but at that time OTR came close to 82 k with extended warranty), if you can get this bike for a 65k OTR with extended warranty, its an awesome deal. I hope they can give you instead of leaving the machines to rust.

Do not worry about spares, the impulse's engine, carb, air-filter share the same platform of other 150cc offerings, so you can always find some alternative, (ofcourse except those parts which are specific like the mono shock, front fork / shocks, chain/ sprocket , for which we need to depend on after market only after the warranty period )

                                Good luck with your purchase.
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).
