The shop is located just off KR road on 4th main road opposite to Garadi Apartments .There is usually a pole with seat covers hanging from it at the corner of the intersection.I dont know the name of the shop.

Today, I enquired at a major Hero Moto dealer and main stockist in Chennai. The dealer didn't have Impulses in stock. He mentioned that Hero has pulled back all marketing/brochures too. He hinted that Hero is doing a major remod (aka sticker job?) and has stopped production. ZMR, ZMA-R are still coming in plentiful supply and all colors despite the new model announcements. After all, this time Hero could be doing something here - esp reduced seat height, higher tank cap, engine capacity bump.....

I don't understand why spend megabucks for ads - Sunburn and do this?

I ride a CBR250R and intended to get an Impulse that I can send by train/cargo to far-off places and ride there locally during vacation. I was confused between ZMA and Impulse... guess I ll have to wait now. An upgraded Impulse is simply too good to miss.

ps: I came across a small time dealer with Impulse in stock - he is willing to offer 10,000-off for each bike.

well, it is what it is.. if a new (and powerful) impulse does come out, i probably will be a bit disappointed , but then again, that is life. my impulse is now 4 months old and i am finding the so called 'lack of power' in this bike diminish day by day. I do chennai to mahabalipuram every sunday and am easily able to cruise at 80-90kmph, above 90 its not lack of power but rather the wind on the east coast road that prevents me from adventuring at higher speeds. Here is what i do to keep my bike in good shape.

            1. i wipe the bike clean everyday and wash it myself (sans the engine) twice a week.
            2. spray some wd40 on parts where i can see rust accumulating (some bearings and screws).. here in chennai it is humid..
            3. i spray some chain lube on the chain every 500kms or two weeks.
            4. check for tyre pressure every week.

I haven't fiddled much with the bike except put a HID kit for better visibility at night. I may put a K&N filter and iridium spark plugs soon if i am convinced that the air filter can be protected from rains.

From a business sense, i think Hero should drop the impulse line all together, adding more power to the engine is certainly not going to boost the sales of this bike imo. Do you really think this bike was a 'failure' because of its lack of power? I think its the odd gear ratios / tuning that gives a sense of lack of power. Let's not forget that this is the Unicorn engine. I once rode the special edition Unicorn and damn! that thing ran! I would personally prefer that Hero ends this bike alltogether, lowers the rates of spares and let us have the joy of having limited edition machines

How do you carry your luggage during long distance touring/rides?

                  - Tank bags?
                  - Saddle Bags? exhaust heat doesn't affect the bags? imagine someone carrying petrol in here ouch
                  - Tail box?
                  - side boxes?

I am seriously thinking of buying an Impulse for my touring around India. The idea is to take the bike by train to far off places and ride in the new locations. This way I don't complain about lack of leave / distance to exotic destinations. Further, I just sold off my CBR250 for a pittance...because it was hindering my touring.

I have used cramster 45 ltr saddle bag for all my rides so far. It fits and works perfectly. It gets a little heated because of exhaust but the inside objects can be easily secured by putting a shield in between the object and the bag from inside (I use the base provided in the bag as shield on exhaust side, it is a removable laminate piece provided as part of the bag by company)

For petrol, we had made custom 15 ltr can holder that was fitted on the load plate of impulse at the back side. It worked perfectly for us.

Here is the picture of how it looked:

Some random pics from my trip to mahabaleshwar last weekend. Used NH17 while going and NH4 for returning.
It was a trip dominated by two yamaha bikes.

                          Guys,

Any idea how to attach PDF in the post here? I have the hero impulse parts catalog in pdf format and thought of sharing it with everybody as it contains all the information about all impulse parts + their part numbers (very important if you want to order any part).

But I am not able to find a way to attach the pdf in this post.

anyone tried fitting a front mudguard or mud flap to prevent those tyres throwing mud on pants? will the mudguard from CBZ xtreme or Hunk fit?
