Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
@shrinathrao
Bro pdf link which i have shared here is having model number for all NGK Spark plugs If its G power then "G" is added and if its Iridium then "IX" is added to model number
for R15 recommended iridium spark plug from NGK is CR8EIX .All japanese Bike manufacturers prefer NGK over Bosch .Last edited by harshmane; 10-14-2013, 08:57 PM.

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
If you are unable to find knuckle guards at ASC look for third party ones at local bike shopee they look good but are costly the bike shoppe in my town quoted me 200Rs for orange coloured knuckle guards they looked good and were also easy to fit but I preferred the official ones as they are sturdy and have saved my clutch ones when bike fell at beach and knuckle guard took all the impactOriginally posted by joeantony View PostSo much happening this thread

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Guys just came across the BMW F650GS now available in India for 11lakh+ here some pics
this silencer does look mean but doubt about its heat sheilding
this is what Hero needs to provide as standard on Impulse
quality build all over
these small indicators look odd but atleast not at risk of being broken while hopping on back seat
will love if Hero takes design cues from this model to upgrade Impulse next year(BIG IF though that Impulse will get an upgrade but a wish nevermind)

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Thought this would be the right place to have a few queries of mine with regard to the Impulse answered.
Managed to lay my hands last week on a year old Impulse with only 3.8k kms on the clock. The previous owner had not necessarily taken good care of the bike, but she is running good and an oil change and a Uni 2 pod filter made a world of a difference to the way she runs.
Questions
1) How many face problems with the nose cone bearing? This one has its bearings rocking the handle left and right a little too much for comfort at higher speeds. Is it normal for the bearings to wear out quick due to the long imbalanced / un stabilized front fork?
2) The Impulse comes with a 142 Watt alternator, which translates to a little over 11 amps. The stock battery is 4 amps and the stock headlight runs a 30/35W bulb. My question here, is the power flow to the battery and bulb restricted to under 4 amps? 11 amp alternator should effectively be able to drive a 7.5 or 9 amp battery and a 55/60W bulb as well. (Any one experimented with this?)
3) Chain slack - I presume the company sets the chain slack at the level they do for a reason, but this is causing a very irritating jerk when opening and closing throttle at slow speeds within the city. Any idea what is the ideal slack (in millimeters) to avoid this and yet have enough slack for whatever reason it is set that way?
4) Service Due sign. I am very clearly not taking the motorcycle back to any Hero service center due to their lack of interest in a customers concerns with his motorcycle. How do I turn that sign off, there probably is a combo press of the Mode and Select buttons on the speedo console. Any one have any idea about the same?
My plan to work the engine to increase output either via a big bore kit (200cc apparently is a possibility on this case) or an engine swap to a ZMA engine (with a big bore kit). Anyone here done the swap or worked on the engine for better output?
Look forward to replieson a never ending journey... a journey of learning!!

Service due sign: turn off ignition key, press and hold 'reset' button for 5 seconds, turn on d ignition keeping the reset button pressed.Originally posted by naptrap View PostThought this would be the right place to have a few queries of mine with regard to the Impulse answered.

Regarding cone, 3.8 and cone issue, i dont think so, you may try the following which helped me:
Loosen up the T ka nut a little (the big nut visible from top) after that, there is a round ring type thing with gaps exactly below the T bar, tighten that first (you will need a different kind of tool for that, my mech used a long screw driver and hammer to tighten it, you can use the tool used to adjust settings of rear suspensions of a honda stunner)
Once done, tighten the T nut (the one which we loosened a little at the beginning)
Post your outcomes.

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Im planning to upgrade to 19T front and 47T or 45T rear sprockets with chain kit.
Any takes on this?
I dont care about acceleration, i want a good top end for touring.

Switch off the machine, then keep pressing the reset button with one hand and switch on the machine with the key now, service due goes offOriginally posted by naptrap View Post4) Service Due sign. you talking about this ********** mod right http://**********.in/custom-led-indi...-hero-impulse/
seems a practical solution but LED should have been on sideways instead of top also the pics were only of day time what about night with tail lamp also fully lit that will be key as it might be washed in taillight from distance
