Performance and sound were simply awesome. Before you realise, the RPM will have climbed to 9K. Freaked the $#it out of few chics in auto rickshaw with the sound. The cosworth filter i installed was a used one, though only for 500 odd kms. It was just bought for testing purposes. Fuel efficiency showed a decline only on the day i was accelerating crazily, red lining on each gear. I got 46 kmpl and the next day i rode at 52 kmph speed and at 4k and 5k RPM. It returned the usual 49kmpl fe.
Worst part is you cannot use it in rains as it may cause water to enter in the carb and may stall the engine.
I used to do 104 kmph at 8k rpm exactly. With cosworth installed, i did 110 kmph at the same 8k rpm, not once, but multiple times.
If you are in mumbai and want to try the filter, let me know. Maybe we can meet up and you can try it on your impulse.

Thats a load of BS!!! Gearing remains constant unless to play with the gear ratios or sprockets. If your bike did 104kph @8K RPM then it will always do 104kph @8K RPM no matter you change the intake, exhaust, cam, cylinder, ignition etc. Please verify your claims before you post it in a public forum.

Lol, come, try it and then post your opinion.
Oh by the way, if thats true, why do people mod their bikes and do get better speeds at same rpm even without changing the sprockets.
Please mind your language, i know a lot such words too, but refrain myself from using them as i like to maintain my standards on a public forum. Do you?

What you are referring to is the gearing ratio, not the speeds.

ok excuse the language... But the info you have posted is totally wrong. I suggest you do some reading probably some physics maybe... or a simple google search on RPM and speed will also help. People read stuff like your claims and believe that is true and tell others the same thing.

            Now dont get all defensive...

Viks, a lot of ppl here may be ignorant. But there are few of us who know basic physics and how an engine or gearing works.

Without changing the gearing(inner or outer sprocket or gear box) u can never achieve a higher speed at the same rpm by changing the air filter or carb or exhaust.

Could not find Motul 5100 in 10w 30 grade. Not even shall advance 10w40. Every oil shop owener suggested me to buy 15 w 50 or whatever was available with them. Finally bought honda oil. I did not know that its this difficult to find right grade in populer brands. Any how changed oil but for first 30 kms ride I see no difference. Gear shift is still clunky. Espacelly from ist to 2nd. It usually go to nuteral with a loud sound. Thought oil change will rectifi this problem but it did not. Hero oil was also abailable but I believe hero and honda oil are same only packaging is different.
It dosent feel right and irritates when gear shifting makes noices.

Of late this thread has become more of debate forum, talking about filters yes what was posted was partially right in sound and acceleration being improved but other part was wrong about rpm(as rightly pointed out) and yes air filters cant be used in rainy season(which now seems to be longer every passing year) and also drop in fuel efficiency is very steep...

P.S if anyone is wrong about anything please bring it to notice but jara pyaar se mistakes do happen we are humans

                      hey people

haha it is funny how this is now a debate thread..

about the filters.. are you serious that it can't be used in rains?? i used a K&N on my pulsar for years on all seasons...im no expert but im simply stating my experience with it..

if filters are really as bad as some of the people here are claiming it to be.. what sort of performance upgrades do you recommend? i really feel lag of midrange on this bike

has anybodody had experience with anything like this?

On impulse, you need to fit the filter just at the neck of the carb, due to which the filter will be exposed and if it rains, it will take the water inside the carb. You feel the jerks like when you feel if you run out of fuel. Seriously dangerous to the engine. Rain rain go away :banghead:

I believe the 104-118 is possible provded 2 things, Speedo error which is around 10-18% in hero bikes and me being a hero bike owner in the past knows and can confirm on that, secondly if the rider weight is less and does a proper redine with no windblasts than its achievable, if the rider has the GPS on than he would get the accurate speedo. I have used the cosworth filter on My R15 for quiet good amount of kms and i found that there was a mere difference of 0.5 km to 1.3 km difference in all gears, though but i agree to the point that from 104 stock to 118 is something error based.

You can use it in rain provided the filter is protected from rains. Maximum 6 out of 10 times if after market filter is used than mid range has actually improved by mere 5% to7% but it comes at a maintenance cost too like cleaning every 1000 kms and other hassles.
