Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Yes but mechanic at ASC told me to fill only 1L. And with 1L oil dip stick shows exact upper mark as shown in the pic in manual. Earlier I used to fill 1.2 L but workshop manager at Mahim ASC told me that it takes 910 ml so don't put more then 1 L Max. It will take 1.2 L only if engine is opened.Originally posted by sancreation View PostIt requires 1.2 liters if you fill 1liter the dip stick will show towards the lower mark top up to 1.2 liters in impulse.make sure you don't over fill..

Your mech is correct. 1.2L only if clutch cover is opened. Else 1L for refill.Originally posted by bavlo View PostYes but mechanic at ASC told me to fill only 1L. Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
I don't give my bike usually to roadside mechanics. I service my bike at mahim fort point ASC which is considered best in Mumbai according to few friends and in my opinion too. So every time they change oil while servicing it. Only when I am riding too much and completing 1500 to 1800 kms before the service due date I go to a local mechanic whom I know and I never told him to change centrifugal filter. Though I am going to take out this pathetic veedol oil tomorrow or day after because engine is heating up in bumper to bumper traffic with in five minutes like hell and I hear gear shifts to be sounding really harsh.Originally posted by sancreation View PostDon't you clean your centrifugal filter every time u change the oil..

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Today I went for 8th paid service to ASC. What amazed me guy making job card told me to put newly arrived engine oil in hero service centres which is synthetic oil and grade is 20w40. When I questioned him that recommended grade is 10w30 and it's written clearly in your warranty terms and conditions that using any other grade will void warranty then why your are offering me to put 20w40? He had no answer and it seems soon you may see these guys recommending 20w40 grade for your hero bikes. And no wonder they will start putting it in all bikes be it an old engine from Honda or newer ones that hero is developing... I guess so.... But if it's the case then why they used to create such fuss about 10w30?

Honestly 10w30 oil was a stupid recommendation. To top it, drain interval is 6k kms.Originally posted by bavlo View PostToday I went for 8th paid service to ASC. Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
As far as I know first number from the oil grade is of no significance in our climate conditions. This number becomes important if we live in cold climates where temperature goes down to well below minus degrees. And that's not the case even in winters in most parts in our country. So the second number say W30 or W40 is important to take note of in our real riding conditions and W30 or W40 make no much difference. In fact in summers W40 will protect engine better. So I think I don't mind a 10W30 or 20W40 grade. Yes if its above W40 then I will say No... Watch this video for a better understanding.Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostHonestly 10w30 oil was a stupid recommendation. To top it, drain interval is 6k kms.

And remember it's always better to stick to the recommended grade. Thats kind of important. Watch this

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
I'm aware of what you meant. But Hero had generalized and recommended to use 10w30 with change interval of 6000kms which doesn't even last 1000kms on my zmr. W40 is required even if you ride in tight B2B traffic.Originally posted by bavlo View PostSo the second number say W30 or W40 is important to take note of in our real riding conditions and W30 or W40 make no much difference. Their recommendation might hold good only for highways or cities with low traffic density.

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
The thing is, I rode my friend's 200ns and it was difficult for me to properly place my feet on the ground, my toe was touching the ground but the heel part wasn't, so in tight traffic that might pose a problem.
