When accelerating in 2nd gear the engine spurts / jerks a bit ...and the throttle response is poor. I notice this much when accelerating hard from traffic lights. The gear change is smooth...however, I experience the issue when letting go off the clutch - so I suspect a clutch issue...... I am not sure what the issue is - perhaps something to do with clutch plates / springs? I am planning a long ride in the hills and believe 2nd gear will be the most used (abused)... so I want to check this and sort out the issue before traveling.

I had this issue in small magnitude when new... but seems to have increased a bit now. I had a cbr250, so thought it to be a lack of power.... but now that I have gotten used to this - I m having my fingers crossed.

any pointers? anyone experienced similar issues?
This is exactly how every impulse behaves, its an issue with their gear box bro. We just have to live with it or adjust our riding style to it.

Without a grab rail, I don't know how you will park it or take out in a tight parking lot. But the looks are awesome however.

Ill probably be going in for a new Impulse soon. The sole thing is need to know is its behaviour on highways and cuising on it??
What is a good speed where one can cruise on Impulse with keeping the engine unstressed? And how good is it on long tours. Is the on board 150cc mill enough?

Very much enough, especially for cruising. Last week end I took it for a 100 km spin in the highway. I felt some vibes post 65 and the same comedown 85 and when you touch 90, its calm enough that I forgot that there is a mill running under my jewels. you can touch 100kmph but I would say 95 is the sweet spot where you would love to stay and enjoy the ride.

I also took it for bit of off roading on the beach sand, but I could not run it without guiding it through my legs, even it first gear . So the verdict, for serious off roading 150cc mill to not a match, for cruising this is perfect.

Can anyone please confirm the idle RPM on their impulse? Mine reads around 1800 and i wonder if its normal.
pitbull, i see the same behavior with my recently bought (used) Impulse too. Basically i guess we should get into the 2nd gear much later than in other bikes.

Idling Rpm: 1400 with a difference of +/- 100

You can adjust the idle rpm to 1400 by adjusting a screw on the right side of the bike - pls see the manual. Adjust the rpm when the bike is warm after 2-3kms of riding. The mech would have done it when cold, so it shoots to 1800rpm when warm.

looks killer especially if yours is blue like mine .. btw do you plan to run the brake cable through that cover now instead of it protruding above the handlebar?.. do post some pics after installing ...

cheers!

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH FULLY SYNTHETIC OIL IN THE IMPULSE?

I remember the showroom person told a reason for that kind of design of the brake cable. He said in off road conditions when the bike twists and turns there is ever chance that the cable get bent / squeezed and thus disturbing the oil flow and in turn compromising the braking. I think you should just keep it as it is with the new handle bar also.

@sreejith kp : The handle bar looks awesome, and I am very interested in doing it as well, but can't go with that color though, as mine is of green.

No..If I do that theres a chance that it will effect the flow of brake fluid..

And one of my cousin is working in honda service centre..he helps me with all the mods and al..one of my friend brother is working in harley davidson service..both said that there is no need of full synthetic oil..semi is enough..
