comfort is good really good. extended city riding in bad traffic causes some heat for the pillion but tolerable. i have been off roading with my wife behind and she is quite comfortable.Originally posted by niks_devil666 View Posthow is the pillion comfort ? much better than any other indian bike ?Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water

did u try putting a saddle bag on the bike? does the heat shield also get too hot that it will burn the bag? are there any options available for a top case ?sigpicThe Moto Cafe - India's first bike theme cafe @ Chandni Chowk

If offroading, luggage bags that dangle may not be a good idea. Tying up an airbag on the rearseat with bugee cord is best bet.Originally posted by niks_devil666 View Postare there any options available for a top case ?
There is this top case from studds, which is not a direct fit on Impulse luggage space. But the shop keeper said bracket could be fabricated.

Much much better, to an extent that Varsha approved it on the first TD. The last that happened was with the AvengerOriginally posted by niks_devil666 View Posthow is the pillion comfort ? much better than any other indian bike ?Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

ok answer to q's no.1 , dis bike is not at all meant for the sari clad ladies, coz there is no proper place to keep their legs on the saree guard and u wont find a proper handle to hold if u r sitting in a crossed position on this bike.Originally posted by princesirohi View Postok now some weird questions coming your way..
- how comfortable is th erear seat for saari clad women.
- how is the bike's performance on highway, comparing to my pulsar.
- how comfortable is the bike on higher revs.
- how good is the headlight.
Pillon riders may find it a bit uncomfortable coz the rider dosent feel much bumps and brakes compared to the pillon riders, so the rider will have to keep in mind the comfort of the person behind him.
answer to q's no.2 , well i dont know abt pulsar but its got a good performance than honda unicorn, i say dis coz i have tried.
answer to q's no. 3, on higher revs u wont find much vibes, but the handling becomes a bit rigid, which means it's risky to take sharp cuts on high speed specially after u cross 70kmph, remember the bike is meant for offroading and not for moto gp, that means u cant bend the bike too much for turns on high speed.
answer to q's no. 4,
the answer is extremely bad, the reason i say it is, coz i myself have attached two extra led lights on my crash guards so that i may get some light on the roads instead of on top of the trees, well u can on the lights until and unless u want to pluck some mangoes from ur tree in the night time.....

1) as others said, not even meant for saree clad women. anyways my friends (Both guys n girls) when ride pillion, initially whine a lot about the height, even struggle to hop on sometimes (coz of the turn indicator) but once they are on, it's super comfortable.. even after 50-60KmOriginally posted by princesirohi View Postok now some weird questions coming your way..

2) highway performance is decent but absolutely no wind protection. zilch. the saving grace is the suspension. infact it's a good bike for uncharted territory. see touring or highway driving is not just mum-pune xpressway or greater-noida yamuna x-way (where i have touched 200 on Civic). this bike is good for state highways, interior roads etc as well
3) it doesnt vibe much, however anything beyond 75-80 is a struggle with the engine pretty much out of juice. cruising at ~70 feels great. it's tall with high centre of gravity so cornering sharply and bending are out of question. it's not meant for that.
4) the headlight is BAD. esp in city driving. top of the trees and electric poles are visible, but i can't see what is ahead
what do i do about it.. even my Bajaj Priya has a better lamp focus and angle of illumination.

Easy guys, you got to adjust one small screw! Check the marked screw in this pic:Originally posted by southpaw View Post

Now, I don't remember which way I turned it to lower the beam but do this:
Do this in evening just after sunset and against a wall at some good distance for best results.
Take help of a friend or family member. Start the bike in neutral, switch on the headlight (high beam). Ask your helper to hold the bike straight. Observe where the high beam falls on the wall.
Now take a philips (star type) screw driver and turn this adjustment screw two full turns clockwise. Check if the beam position on the wall is lowered. If not then turn the screw anticlock wise( my guess is that clockwise lowers the beam but I don't remember, so just try it first).
Now, depending on the distance to wall, you will have to guess how much to lower the beam. So, keep adjusting the screw untill you get the beam lowered to desired position. Now go for test ride and check the focus and your comfort with it. If needed, repeat the adjustment.
And don't forget to thank your helper for holding the bike
, you will need them frequently.
(If you are doing this at night, you will be blinded by the head light and it is tougher to work on the screw. So do it in evening while still some ambient light is left).

Unless, it is in very good condition, 15k for just the engine block is steep, I feel. I think, for around same price we can get brand new zma engine block. Because, that is more than 15% of a new zma cost.Originally posted by niks_devil666 View Postresponse on the youtube video
its a karizma engine, brought it for 15k gear box is the same it need some welding for exhaust heder pipe otherwise its a straight fit
Edit: Doesn't ignition timing get effected when using cdi of IMPULSE on ZMA engine, so also the carb may have to be replaced/tweaked? Also, the self starter to be replaced I think.Last edited by Endurance; 03-27-2012, 05:56 PM.

Me, Professor Biker and vkavadia met this guy last Saturday and test rode the impulse he is talking about. yes, the engine is a lot smoother and gives better feedback in 4th and 5th gear. But i believe it has lost the initial torque that stock impulse engine has but has more power at higher end.Originally posted by niks_devil666 View Postresponse on the youtube video

Strangely i find the headlght quite good and decent, not so powerful though...there is a screw just under the headlight which will help you focus the headlight, its a pretty simple setting, i too had problem with the focus but i could sort it out myself with that screw very easily, as far as i remember unscrewing the screw gets the light focus down, and tightening it up get it higher.Originally posted by southpaw View Post

On small question, i had gone to a spare parts shop there was another impulse owner who was out there and was asking for an ankle shift gear lever , is it possible to fit a regular gear lever there (Toe+Ankle)?? .. just curious.... is there any was we can put it in ??Vehicles Owned/Previously Owned
