    Me to feel the same.
Still now cannot go anywhere without getting noticed. People either love it or hate it, but they will talk about it surely. Some times it gets too irritating. And about displacement, i am satisfied with its 150cc mill becoz for me its got decent punch for light offroading with the combination of good mileage, which is a great thing for the long rides i do.

Yes. As it shares/has the engine of Unicorn. I think Joel has got a big bore kit for that engine.

Go for it Niks. It will compliment your FZ1, perfectly.

              • As long as one is not into hardcore offroading, going for a bigger engine can be fun on Impulse. But consider these things with a bigger bore:
                - Carb has to be swapped?
                - Alternator?
                - The tank will still hold only 11.5ltrs, so the range will be reduced
What mileage can be expected from a engine swap, if one goes touring on this 230cc Impulse

And if someone is trying to play with gear ratios, please give a thought to these points:

Any choice of gear ratios that allows a whole number division ( or non prime numbers) between the # of teeth back and front will probably adversely affect the life of the chain. This is because through the power cycle the front sprocket will always be lugging on the same teeth in the rear sprocket.

Here's an example: Using the 16/48 configuration you mention, tooth #1 on the front sprocket will always be driving teeth #"s 1, 17 and 33 in the rear. Given the smaller # of teeth on the front sprocket the wear and tear on the rear will be magnified if at least one of the two sprockets does not have a "prime number" of teeth. Examples are 13 or 17 up front and 41, 43 and 47 in the back.

                      - If any welding is required on frame, please pay utmost attention to get it done perfectly, because while offroading it is the frame that takes much of the abuse and has to remain flexible.
                      - Gear Ratios
                      Carb swap - Easy
Alternator - Doesnt make a difference, the ZMR has a bigger Alternator me thinks, and any way the Impulse has very basic electricals. Heck with the ZMR alternator I think we can throw in a ciggy lighter adaptor and stereo in it :P
Weidling - Straight fit probably implied that no weilding is\was required, but would check on that
Gear ratios - This can be toyed with the primary ratios... the ZMR is too tall geared but this isnt as big a issue

                      Niks: Are you listening?

Edit: Isnt the CBR250R crank also the same?
Honda already has used the CBR mill on the new CRF... *Cough*

If the karizma engine is really that perfect a fit as described in the video, then I think people will certainly queue up for this mod. Can a new 223 cc engine be sourced from Hero, I mean if not in showroom, through outside shops.

                        • @satyen : loud and clear .... although I wud still be more interested in a big bore kit rather than full engine swap. With full swap cost is more and then u need to reregister bike with RTO with the new engine

                          • Big bore kit is no problem.. the kits of Unicorn should be a straight fit...

                            • done around 1600 Km till now.. my service due light is still wrongly on.. and left knuckle guard had to be taken off coz it fell off because of a wrong-sized bolt installed on it.. the right one is fine

->sometimes i do feel a bit of a jerkiness/wobble.. maybe that's just my mind overreacting but i feel there is a bit too much chain slack
->engine has become a wee bit loud and i feel the vibes on my thighs while it is idle.. maybe second service will take care of that
->the gearbox ratios still taking time getting used to.. gearshifts are not unicorn-smooth but fine anyways
->and like someone posted earlier, that slipping in 5th gear does happen but only when u shift it lightly, it has to be done firmly, two 'tuckk -- tuckk' sounds should be there before the chain latches properly

consistently getting around 50-51kmpl till now.. mostly civilized, smooth cruising @ 60, excluding a few traffic light sprints and some 85-90kmph stretches over DND flyway and NH1

overall i guess i am happy bought a cover for 390 but it doesnt fit properly as expected. bought 2 bungee ropes too, but they didnt arrive raised complaint on eBay :P
