As long as you are regular with cleaning & lubricating your chain, it doesn't really matter which brand. Diesel & kerosene is what most people use to clean o-ring chains if soap water is unable to get the dirt out.Originally posted by d-man View PostA question to the veterans and the experienced ....

Generally it is NOT recommended to use a penetrant like WD-40 but I use a very light spray of WD-40 to keep the rust from forming on the links & rollers.

To produce more power one needs to burn more fuelOriginally posted by mayukh92 View Postwhat type of performance mods which can be carried on the impulse without hurting the FE of the bike and neutral handling of the bike too much?

All these motors come with lean fuelling from the factory to comply with various pollution laws, one can play a bit with the carb and the exhaust to free up the engine but at the expense of fuel consumption.
Unlike the trend, installing a free flow muffler without changing the bend pipe does almost nothing to the performance other than make the bike sound louder and make you think you are going fast.
One can get better gains by just changing the header but this has to be accompanied with suitable intake mods. I would leave the motor as it is if you are only using the motorcycle for commuting.
Removing the CAT in the exhaust & the airbox snorkel would help some.
The forks are the weakest point of the Impulse but unfortunately the indian aftermarket industry is almost non existent. A Chinese variant of the Impulse does come with decent sized USD forks

Delkevic makes a titanium header for the CRF which will fit the Impulse with some mods.

now i'm confused there are two race concept sites one is of famous Joel's another is of flashy expensive gears and bike parts which one is giving performance mods for Honda engines?Originally posted by Gyroerror View PostAll these motors come with lean fuelling from the factory to comply with various pollution laws, one can play a bit with the carb and the exhaust to free up the engine but at the expense of fuel consumption.

sligthly off-topic
Eventhough i may not be 100% correct i would advice to check your facts because AFAIK its actually the muffler which robs most power compared to the catcon.Originally posted by Gyroerror View PostRemoving the CAT in the exhaust & the airbox snorkel would help some.
Please refer to below link.
Build Your Own Exhaust - Kemper's Web Page
Also thread start can use the information from above website if he feels and verifies it is correct.
Also i would like to mention that better stick to stock specifications unless you really need more power.Whenever i see bikes or cars i see adrenalin pumps instead of people carriers.Thats the way to define an automobile.

engine vibes from 4000-4500 rpm , its more prominent during downshifts and I feel a loss of power but once the RPM needle reach 4500 it climbs fast .Due to this I am shifting into 2.3.4 and fifth well above 5500 rpm so that the RPM only comes down to 4500 and no loss of power. Is anyone experiencing this and knows what has to be done to get rid of the vibrations.Engine is smooth and vibe free throughout the range even at 9000pm except for 4-4500RPM.

Recently I filled fuel from someplace on the highway and now the bike struggles to cross 5/6k rpm band. the bikes top speed is also reduced to 75kmph. Last time when this happened to me was from Leh-Keylong stretch. The moment I had filled fuel again in Keylong (probably unadulterated) the bike was perfect.
Anyone else faced such an issue?
Update : cleaned the carb and the bike is running fine nowLast edited by niks_devil666; 08-21-2012, 12:04 PM.sigpicThe Moto Cafe - India's first bike theme cafe @ Chandni Chowk
