riding style

It looks less, but depends on your riding style.... I used to get 42-44 when riding between 50-55 kmph and use the throttle for low end quick pick up and settle at 55. This was before first service. After first service max speed was around 65 and occasionally touching 90 which returns around 37. All these on 80% tarmac and 20% bad road / no road combo. Please check your carb setting also your idling settings.

Hi guys, I have done approx. 4000kms on my Impulse. I wanted to know what mileage do u get and whats the top speed. I get a mileage of 44 currently and the max speed it goes to is just 107kmph.

The showroom guy told me it would reach 114kmph.
I need advise to improve certain things if its possible.

It will be almost impossible to find one such dimension, smaller ones will not suit as the foot rest would go very high. Better go for a weld job done, they can do it pretty easily.

104 or 114 is not really going to make you reach anywhere fast

30-33kmpl in Bangalore traffic and aggressive riding.

You can add one aftermarket ladies footrest to your stock saree guard..it will serve your purpose..Few friends of mine are using the same on their Fazer/FZs..

@gyroerror, has the engine retained its smooth character or not?

Thats the max I have ever achieved.I usually get 35-38 with aggressive riding.

I am tempted to go for the big bore kit (180cc) from raceconcepts.


Anyone tried it on impulse/unicorn? hows the performance and reliability?

I am thinking of buying an Impulse to get Leh'ed. I have a KTM Duke right now and am not comfortable with the changes that need to be done to the Duke to get it Leh ready. Better option is to buy this provided, this is Leh Ready with just minor modifications. Given that I am planning to dispose my 7 year old Unicorn and get this as my second bike. I am yet to test ride this, will do so over the weekend.

Can the bike handle 3 - 4 hours of continuous riding ?
Is there any engine heat ( The basis you'd know if you have ridden a Duke )
I am 5'6 in height, will that be an issue. I read that this is a taller bike than most.
Are the hand guards available with Hero Motors ?
I've had a Hero Honda Splendor in the past, didn't have major issues with the servicing folks. How's the service these days after the split from Honda, is there any difference. I am used to the pampered treatment that KTM / Bajaj service guys provide.

Looking forward to meet up with some Chennai Impulse owners if possible. We have a Republic day ride planned for 400kms up and down with a bit of off-roading as well. Let me know if any of you from Chennai are interested in this.

yup! Impulse is THE bike for get LEh'ed.... is thereengine heat? it is, but at higher speeds that too very negligible. height WILL be a problem as in the bike requires you to be at least 5ft. 7 inch but that that big a problem though. is there are Knuckle Guards available for the impulse which costs Rs80. hero Honda servicing experience will be not as good as bajaj just don't ask why. all the views expressed are very much PERSONAL.

I am yet to test ride this A friend test drove and the first thing he noticed was the lack of acceleration, given that we have been accustomed to Duke's 25BHP and short gear ratios, this might take us time to get used to. Do you have any idea about saddlebags, tail bags and other accessories available for the Impulse ? I am yet to start looking at options on that front. A pointer would be greatly appreciated.

as far as saddle bags r concerned i cna't be of any help as i dont do serious touring myself but yes the impulses pillion grab rails will be very much up to anything you want to fit with it. i think you should consult with " niks_devils666" as he already have done tour de Leh with impulse already. he can be of great help.
