woah!! is it ? i thought the d200's were niggle free and even better since my17. i've not heard about this n neither have i seen bikes at the svc i go to being worked upon on for such issues (well, i haven't been to the svc as often as i used to.. now it's just one or two visits a year)
could you guys throw some light on this ?

And yeh, if it's under warranty.. you don't pay a penny, though the svc will tell you that you have to pay for labor, it is a scam. they ought to do it for free.. maybe you just have to pay for the fluids like oil/coolant if required.

Indeed. What piques my interest is why the entire head assembly has to be replaced. Secondly, did you inquire with the SVC chaps, what was their diagnoses were with the 2k17 bikes and replacement carried out. Was it a replacement due to faulty valves, or faulty head assembly. Keep your observations posted, when you replace your head.

Chip, could you throw in a bit more light on this issue. Since you've mentioned "a lot" piques my interest, apart from a few issues posted intermittently in the thread, any info regarding noise related valve replacement is scarce. If indeed it was a faulty valve, a valve replacement job would have sufficed as opposed to a total head replacement. Nonetheless, if you have detailed prognosis of the issue, do let us know.

    Cheers!

It's all under warranty. You shouldn't be paying a rupee. Labour charges aren't levied under warranty.

If it doesn't, get your gear shift lever assembly and the spring checked. This is the gear rod that goes inside the engine that your foot shifter is bolted to. This would require removing the clutch side of the engine. A faulty shaft/spring mechanism can in fact cause sticky shifts, get it replaced. Keep your observations posted.

Or maybe close it with aluminium foil n rubber band as a temp fix..

Thank you for the suggestions. To my luck, I managed to get the coolant tank cap in a few days from the svc. What a relief! During this season water can easily get into the coolant tank.

and am not sure if any of you have noticed (i had posted pics earlier), the clutch cover/position of the clutch release lever is different from 2017 onwards

i found that this has reduced the effort one needs to put in at the clutch and feels 'smoother'. am going to check if this can be fitted on my bike.
if anyone has done or enquired about this, please let me know.

The little protrusion that you see on the newer ones can be due to a reworked stator design. We can get more idea, once the inside of the stator cover is exposed. Case in point, the Duke 390's have always had this protrusion, so here is the internal of it, so you can get an idea.

The SVC guy told me this can be beacuse of less oil sprinkled on the stator due to old cover design. With this new one it will ensure the oil is sprayed on the coil and will help burning out.

Though there is no assurity on what he is saying is right. I still decided to go for a new cover as 800₹ is still worth trying it out. I also got my entire wiring checked and even RR. They insisted on not to change the RR as it was fine as per their diagnosis and voltage check.
