Re: KTM 200 Duke
It seems like the number of issues with my 2012 Duke 200 are never ending post 30k kms.
Last year in October, I had a broken output shaft which some how failed and no one at the service center could explain. The engine was opened up and the part was replaced. I said good bye to factory fit as I never had any engine work earlier. I finally got the bike with a ₹6000 bill and a leaky gasket and oil seal, which was replaced almost twice, post that service.
Fast forward to June this year, the head started leaking oil and the valve shims needed replacement. Went to the svc and got the engine opened up again and received a bill of ₹4000. I thought it was done, but no..
Now in August, I found the gearbox to be really hard, so stopped and checked the oil level, and there it was.. Milky-brown colored liquid inside the engine. I checked the coolant tank and it was empty. Coolant has definitely mixed with the oil. Sigh! Another visit to the service but this time I mailed Bajaj about it and immediately received a call from the local svc regarding the email. So they came home and took the bike, I'm still awaiting delivery. I shall post an update about the bike once I receive it.
Bajaj-KTM makes an amazing product but the after-sales service ruin the ownership experience.
Anyone over here has a problem free Duke 200? (Preferable a 2012-13 model)

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I had the same issue and asked for a replacement under warranty. The service guys told me it is not a manufacturing defect and won't warrant a replacement. They use every rule in the book to screw you over.Originally posted by Omkar Santosh Naik View PostGreat. Thanks man [emoji119]

If I do replace it, it will be replaced under warranty right? My bike is only 10 months old.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostUnfortunately, monsoons are wreaking havoc on motorcycle consoles, eh. I'd suggest you give it time to dry up by parking it where the temperature is above room temperature, or you can let it dry overnight and and use a hair dryer with medium heat over the console, this way the condensation slowly recedes. If you feel the condensation is excessive and have clear water droplets instead of condensation, it's recommended you to replace your console.
Though you can open the console and give it thorough air whiff, opening the closing the console frequently would lead to improper seal and leads to premature failure and worsens the effect of condensation. Keep your observations posted.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I had same problem. Opened it completely, blowed the water out by giving it few jerks and fit it over again.Originally posted by Omkar Santosh Naik View PostGuys, My Instrument cluster has fogged up due to the recent rains. Re: KTM 200 Duke
I did think the same while buying it but my friend who also has a 2k17 duke 200 had the valve replaced .I was said that the head has to be replaced in my bike though .The engine does produce a bit of extra noise which is what the svc told me for the reason to replace the part. They also told me that the part was faulty in many 2k17 manufactured vehicles .I did personally see a couple of old head in the service centre which were recently replaced .Originally posted by s1d View Postwoah!! is it ? i thought the d200's were niggle free and even better since my17. i've not heard about this n neither have i seen bikes at the svc i go to being worked upon on for such issues (well, i haven't been to the svc as often as i used to.. now it's just one or two visits a year)
could you guys throw some light on this ?
And yeh, if it's under warranty.. you don't pay a penny, though the svc will tell you that you have to pay for labor, it is a scam. they ought to do it for free.. maybe you just have to pay for the fluids like oil/coolant if required.
