other reasons for black deposits include leaking piston rings.....this is very bad and should not happen to relatively new engine. rings will leak if they are worn out due to low engine oil level....which in your case is possibe due to oil leakage through gasket. were you checking engine oil levels regularly during leakage period?
Yes, even Im guessing its bad combustion but unable to fix this, even if I tune the AFR to make it more leaner there is no change in black deposit ( I confirmed by cleaning it thoroughly and riding for ~20kms and checking again) also making the AFR leaner didnt have any measurable impact on the mileage

Can you also give some more details on dripping fuel nozzle ? any explanation with pictures would definitely help. Also, I ahvent gotten the carb cleaned recently ( say from past 8K kms) Can this have any impact ?

I always check oil once every 15 days and I never had problem with low engine oil and as far as I can tell never ran the engine without sufficient oil ( below the min level in measuring tip), any other symptoms of leaking piston rings that I can check to confirm?
Do speed breakers break speed or break backs !!!

fuel nozzle....i mean to say fuel jet. if its partially choked with some substance...then fuel spray pattern can change and due to this air and fuel will not mix properly before burning....resulting in bad combustion.

      • Air filter relacement of Dream Neo/Yuga

        Guys,
Hope all Honda dream users actively riding...
Here is how we replace the Air filter, which is a simple yet necessary stuff to keep your engine breathing.
Manual recommends to replace every 16,000 kms. Also this is not a cleanable air filter, so dont spray anything over it.
My Neo has completed around 18k kms with no major issues to report ..

        Process:

        1. Remove the cover on the left side, then you will view this Air box inside. Nice one with a warning message

Take it away and you will see a mesh air filter, for large particles filtering.. I think it is a failsafe mechanism (nice move by Honda )

        4. Buy the Honda air filter for dream series or Passion xpro filter of Hero.. (both costs 170 and exactly the same)

        wow... nice package

        6. Put the new filter back in same way. There will be a clip at the bottom, so it fits into the notch in air filter.

Reassemble in reverse. Done.. You saved your engine from starving of air..

              • Problem with bike running performance

                Hello,
I have a Honda Dream Yuga in which I poured a SHELL ADVANCED FULL SYNTHETIC OIL.
Atter that,on early morning I have to rev up and ride rough for at least 1km to get better performance.
In simple, I usually stop at pan-parler to have smoke. It is like 1km from my house. So, if I ride roughly to pan-parler I get better ignition when I ride again after smoke...
So please enlighten me why it is so weird in the morning...?

During morning, use choke and idle for 2 mins. That wil make your yuga smoother .
Also tighten the exhaust bolts regularly, it has tendency to cause vibration if loose.

check spark plug and card tuning Engine oil has nothing to do with rough ride for 1 KM.
if oil is no longer good then it willbe rough all the way through.

for me it seems like you are running lean and bike starts running fine after its warmed up.
get the spark plug gap cleaned and card tuning checked.

                          Hi,
Unable to find a relevant thread for the Passion Xpro - and hence posting here. Thread appears slightly inactive though. I find very little details for the Xpro here on xbhp and the Passion thread is mainly dealing on the 100cc siblings.

I have a Hero Passion Xpro that has clocked close to 27,000 kms in 1.5 years. Now my usage of this bike has reduced and so my dad uses it for local runs to the grocery/ marketplace.

So far I had maintained it well, did timely servicing and oil change every 2,500 - 3,000 kms with stock Honda 10w30 mineral oil only. I have also replaced the air filter twice and overall the bike has been reliable and trouble free in my extensive usage. It had good pickup for city conditions and gave a steady mileage of 60 - 64 kpl overall.

However in a period of 500 kms that my father has used. The engine sound is loud, he tends to ride the bike in half clutch and wrong gear, sometimes lugging the engine at a higher gear - and so now there is a very laggy pickup. I observed the clutch play is terribly less now, barely a centimeter. And mileage has dropped considerably. What could be the issue?

He does not seem to change his riding style. What could I do to get the bike back to normalcy? Will this damage the engine or is the 110cc motor abuse friendly?

                          Thanks

Friendly or not , riding half-clutch with little play in lever shall wear out the plates quickly and affect chain drive too . You have to correct both of this somehow . Adjust clutch lever free-play correctly . 2000 kms is the max limit for 10w30 Hero/Honda mineral oil , I usually drop it at little over 1500 . If oil is good and in level , you can get away with much abuse with the engine . You can try using 20w40 oil for once and see , because short tripping is severe service for any bike , a heavier oil might help . Check tyre pressure , chain slack and lube it . Check air-filter . Check that dad isn't riding the foot-brake pedal , it's quite common . What else you can do if you're not riding yourself .

Stock carb setting is 1.8 360deg turns anticlockwise from fully closed position.
Mileage heavily depends on what speed we ride and which gear you mostly use.
Same bike I get 50kmpl, 65 kmpl and even 70 in the past 3 years. The faster your acceleration, mileage will become lesser.
There is no constant number mileage for any bike.
THe minimum I managed to get in this bike is 49 kmpl (heavy rash riding).

                                Few advises:
                                1. Clean your oil filter (more oil less friction)
                                2. Change to synthetic oil if possible (less friction more mileage)
                                3. Change air filter (clogged filter affects Air fuel ratio)
                                4. Spark plug gap (9mm is optimum for this bike, lesser gap will consume more fuel)
                                5. Tyre inflation (rear 33psi works for best mileage)
                                6. Carburetor and fuel filter cleanup (all guides are given in my signature)
                                7. Finally valve clearance.. (looser side is better for mileage and engine longevity .10 mm intake , .15mm exhaust)
