Also what papers do you have at present to prove to any cops about it being registered until then?
The reason I'm asking this is because when I enquired about taking delivery under temp registeration, the ktm guys told that I would be given necessary papers but it'll be valid only for the way from my house to the showroom!!!

I may just go and take the bike tomorrow as soon as I land but wanted to know if the remaining work of getting the papers and fixing the number plate will be borne by me or if the showroom guys will help me out.
Hey as I had told you I had booked a choice no. well before hand so I got the same no's stickered on my no. plate from them and I had already kept another IND no. plate set ready with me with my choice no. Officially you cannot ride the bike on TC no. in any case. The cops can charge you for it. The paper they talking about is Form 19. I suppose which is used to take the bike till RTO actually but people use it to take their bikes home as well. Even if you take the delivery on temp. registration the showroom guys will do everything for you be rest assured about that thing :-)

Pardon me, but here in Kerala , if you get the temporary registration , you can use the vehicle for about one month time before registering it, now it has been reduced to 1 week or so i heard. I can be sure about this because we had got a car which ran over 1000kms within the first 2 weeks after temp registration and it wasn't an issue. We were informed that the registration needs to be done only within a month.

Please clarify if this can be done in your place.

Cheers

CONGRATS to the two owners of the Ninja 300! Was just casually researching the launch in India and was completely astounded when I
found out there already is an Ownership Thread here!

This is a brilliant machine, and going by the hype and reviews abroad, this should be a spectacular machine in India! According to me this is
the perfect sportbike for the kind of roads we have in our country, and I'm sure that if I buy one I will never need to upgrade to anything bigger.

Congrats to the owners again, and please do keep posting info/snippets/experiences about your bikes.. There are a lot of 'hungry' people out
here! Cheers!!
A good rider has balance, judgment, and good timing. So does a good lover!

Won't work in Mumbai my friend.. local "Pandus" will stop you and then will be responsible in reducing your greens for your greenie... so better get it registered asap.

Congrats for the bike bro!

Regarding the confusion over registration limit, its 4 weeks from delivery. That means you have 28 days. But, it doesn't mean you can ride it as much as you want. The ODO reading must be within 150 kms until the registration is complete.
So, why bother with the wait? Get it registered ASAP, complete the run in and enjoy riding.

Cheers.

Small correction. its one whole month, I mean the validity of temp registration
They extended the period due to latest fancy number booking registration rules.
formerly we can book a number without any vehicle purchase records & make registration within 6 months.
now we have to submit all vehicle details when booking a number.

I am still unregistered even after 4.5K kms ;p
I am waiting for my old number , which is 707
now KVR Bajaj, Malappuram had fooled me & they didn't booked my number (some other booked)and I had lost fine (2100.00) & risky driving of 4500 KMs
I wish if I am the only rider in roads !!!!!
So I can red line my bike all the time

Be it the gear shifts, the clutch, the engine, etc. Brakes are may be tad less sharp than the 250R. Good low and mid end power although didn't rev past 4K RPM restriction but could make out from the slight bursts. One feeling after riding it for almost 50-60 kms today is MONEY WELL SPENT.

Well this is what I got:
• Register the new vehicle within 7 days from the date of taking delivery from the dealer excluding the period of journey for vehicles on temporary registration.

• No dealer of vehicle can deliver the unregistered motor vehicle to the purchaser. He can only deliver the vehicles which are temporarily /permanently registered with R.T.O.

• No owner of a motor vehicle can allow or permit the use of unregistered vehicle.

• No person can drive a motor vehicle, which is not registered with R.T.O.

• Get the vehicle registered directly from the dealer on his trade certificate.
• Produce vehicle for inspection to RTO . Vehicle is inspected by an inspector of it confirms to the provision of Act & rule then vehicle tax is recovered & new registration number is assigned

Source: Motor Vehicles Department ( R.T.O.) , Maharashtra

Also, the showroom guys dissuaded me from taking delivery until the bike was registered. So it seems the wait is still on...

hey arun sorry for the confusion. I actually meant TC (Trade Certificate) No. and not temp. registration. As far as I no they wont be doing temporary registration and giving you. They would give on TC No. only so better you wait for some more days for your bike to be registered and then take the delivery.

It must be really difficult. I mean you cannot exceed probably 50 kmph at thet rev limitation, or is it more?
